Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

My guess is they'd have each of the games be separate files like the PSN version.

Edit: assuming it's already possible to purchase each game individually from X360 GoD.

Kind of? You can buy Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 as one package and Peace Walker by itself on Xbox Games on Demand.

Witcher 2 says hi!

I believe Witcher 2 is compatible because the developer made a special digital version of it for the 360 originally. The issue is with games that were multi-disc and were never set up to be sold digitally.

edit: turns out not even that. They released a special version of Witcher 2 for the 360 at retail called the Silver Enhanced Edition that had the entire game on one disc. Digital version was probably based off that.

Still, there are games like Assassin's Creed IV, Max Payne 3, and GTA V that are on Games on Demand already, so there are a handful of games setup to work like this if the developer put the time to do it right.

I'd imagine that the HD Collection would be harder to do since it's on 2 discs. But if they're trying out Blue Dragon, then anything is possible I guess.
It is 2 disc but peace walker is on one disc and mgs 2 and 3 are on the other disc

I believe all those games, the second disc just installs data that the first disc treats as DLC, so that's why they were sold digitally.

Yup. On the stream with Bill Stillwell (here), he said games that treat the second disc as an install disc, then only require the first to play, are not a problem. It's games that have a disc swap that are the issue.

What I really want to know is if we might start to see games available digitally that weren't before. I really, really want to own digital BC versions of all 3 Mass Effect games, and all 3 Dead Space games. 2 and 3 in both series are of the disc swap variety, and have no digital version.

Achievements showing 0G in 360 BC for anyone else?

There is the Xbox one version of the game that intentionally has 0G and then the actual 360 version of the game.

Sometimes it takes a while for the games to be linked in the databases that they use to track achivements

Good news guys, I've done some more delving and have found a small repository of detail which I have added to my master list.

Whilst there are a few games here I didn't know about, what is the most interesting is the games they have appeared alongside.
Lots of games that have been released very very recently.

If I were a betting man I would imagine that these are games that are coming very shortly as they have been planned in as GWG or for some kind of announcement

I would b pumped for the bold. Wish there was an update on Skate 3. I want it now. :(

Wait until after EA's E3-not-really-E3 event and then it'll be announced as a pre0order bonus for Skate 4, but available now.

At least that's what I dream about.

But if you people are fucking with me about Burnout or Outrun, I may end you all.

Burnout Paradise is coming isn't it? I think that was confirmed.

I don't get it. How do I buy digital 360 games and play them on my Xbox One? Is this even possible without credit card? Apparently this is the only payment option (xbox 360 store homepage).
I'm interested in Alan Wake and Dark Souls.

All this burnout talk is getting me giddy. It was the only racing game I was good at and I was even ranked 1 in the world for a small period of time.

I don't think they will release it for BC while Elder Scrolls Online is still pushing out new content.
They want us to *buy* their new products, not replay our already-purchased games.

They also want us to rebuy their older games as well, lol. And this case, I certainly would.

You can use your Xbox Account wallet to buy the games on the Xbox One store.

BC games are on the Xbox One store now.

Wait, really? Where, lol? I'm a new Xbox One owner and the new UI is a bit confusing

You can't use your account wallet for 360 games when using the store on Xbox One or the website; only CC or Paypal. The only way to use your account wallet to buy 360 games currently is to use an actual Xbox 360.

Yeah, the Xbox One is using the website interface and is therefore limited by the payment options on Xbox.com

Doom 3 BFG edition seems like a no-brainer for GwG in the lead-up to the new Doom game. I actually bought that disc but never played it, so maybe I would finally get around to it on XB1.

COD: WaW is a hacked mess on 360. I quit after I was in a god mode lobby.

MW2 is a better experience thankfully, as well as the Black Ops games.

I was thinking, in an interview some MS person said they have to play all games to completion every side quest etc to make sure it works, it makes me wonder if that's why CoD is taking so long to take up because they might have to play to max prestige and get all camo's etc which obviously takes a shit load of time.

I really doubt they are doing this...

They can probably speed up such stuff etc.
