Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I sold my 360 and most of its games a year ago, only keeping the Mass Effect Trilogy and Skyrim in the hope that they would all be made BC.

It was good to play through ME1 again, and hopefully MS sort out the multi disk problem and get ME2 and ME3 to work. I wonder how they're going to deal with the DLC though, there's so many small DLC for ME2 and ME3 and some of them are a bit obscure, so I wonder if all but the major story DLC's, (Levithan, Lair of the Shadow Broker etc), will be made available for free. As long as I get my weapon packs I'll be happy, I refuse to play through ME2 and ME3 again without my beloved Mattock and Harrier respectively. The Mattock in ME2 was brokenly powerful, it was £2 well spent.

Skyrim is one game I expected to be available by now, hopefully Bethesda and MS aren't holding it back as a Elder Scrolls VI pre order bonus, that would suck so bad.

"All it has become" is a little harsh.

I haven't counted them bin in March we got a decent number of new games - many of them retail games.

And yes, some games are held back for Preorder Bonuses - but then again, once they release everyone can play them and not just folks who preorder.

Thinking about it some more Fallout 4 just came out meaning that Elder Scrolls 6 is at least a couple of years away, and I don't think MS will hold Skyrim back that long, the novelty behind BC pre order bonus will be gone by then. I can see Skyrim BC being announced at Bethesdas pre-E3 show in a couple of months as a bonus to something else.

Actually, the distance between Oblivion and Skyrim was 5 years. It's been 5 years since Skyrim. I would not be surprised if ES6 was announced at E3.

I'd be surprised tbh since they're still making DLC for FO4, and they usually wait until they've finished supporting their latest game before announcing the next one, but we'll just have to see, things can always change. :)

Wtf it doesn't feel like it's been five years.

Well, technically it hasn't been 5 years. Four years and five months.

Plus, I feel like there is no real correlation between the timeframes that he listed(hope I'm wrong though as I fucking love The Elder Scrolls games).

There should be a sale on Rockstar games coming today. Don't know if it is live already. But time to grab RDR if you don't already own it.

Considering they have at least three more Fallout 4 DLC's coming after Far Harbor and Todd Howard mentioner they'd use the same announcement-release cycle they had for that game, I wouldn't expect ES6 at this E3, or even next year.

We'll either get Skyrim in BC, or they'll announce a remaster. But it's far too soon for a sequel.

How do you know there's a rockstar sale? sales don't usually go live until Tuesday..

Can't really elaborate on that but it should be live on the 360 dash at least. Don't have a 360 to check though.

edit: don't know if it's a "sale" but it's called "Incredible Rockstar Games Deals"

The large tab in the main area of the dashboard is "Incredible Rockstar Games Deals". If it's a sale, the sale prices don't seem to be live yet. RDR is still $30, GTA5 is still $60. Other games listed are Bully, GTA:SA, GTA4, L.A. Noire, and Midnight Club LA.

So the update is alreadypushed to the dash. Don't know why the prices are still OG. Is this common that they say "incredible deal" but just use the normal prices?

Usually if they use the word "deal", it's a sale of some sort. Prices typically change a lot sooner than anything shows up on the dashboard though.

Hmm strange, sales have always gone live on a Tuesday except for the spring/summer weekend deals and even then, they've stopped doing those and the sale was announced in advance.

Either it's a mistake or we could see a few rockstar games come to BC. It's the only thing that makes sense, it should be about time too since the other games that were leaked were added to BC about a week ago (HW2, L4D2). Something interesting to note is it's all last gen games only (no GTA5), tho I don't think they would make all of those BC on the same day, especially same publisher.

Would be so awesome to see BC for RDR today :o

Microsoft can you must do me a solid and release Civilization Revolution please? It's all I want to play right now and I don't want to have to go buy a 360 to play it.

Of course, you can't use the DVR in parts of Saints Row IV. Saw that coming from a mile away. If Saints Row III happens, that's probably gonna happen too.

Game runs pretty good so far btw. 9GB download

Bonus points because you can import characters from III in. Re-Elected not having that feature sucked. I might actually give this another playthrough when it comes up as free next week.

I'm loving this BC. I'm finding it hard to play my recent purchases since I've been playing the BC games. I've been playing Witcher 2 and barely touched Gears Ultimate, Quantam Break, and Halo MCC. I'm actually playing this console more than PS4, though I'm not sure I'll be singing the same tune by late 2016 after Persona 4 and Neir 2. I never understood why people say BC isn't important or a non issue.

It's mainly being said by owners of consoles without BC.
