Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

It's great to see Doom 3 here. I personally liked the original release, but I'm glad the BFG edition is getting some love. I wonder how the classic Doom games factor in to all of this.

Guess I'll try installing it and seeing what happens. I remember there were some problems or something trying to run them from the disc if you already had the XBLA titles. I can't exactly remember what the issue was...

I could've sworn I had this game digitally. Guess I was wrong. Whatever, I'm totally getting this if it hits the XBMarketplace soon. This'll be the first game I install from a disc despite having other compatible titles.

How is the performance of Mirrors Edge on Xbox One? I never played the original and after reading peoples thoughts on the new Mirrors Edge I wanted to go back and try the original.

Never owned a 360 so these BC titles are great. Playing Alan Wake after beating QB and looks and runs great...

that said...

How are these BC titles running on XB1 vs the 360?

General rule of thumb is that if the game is GPU heavy, the game will run as good or better on the Xbox One as it did on the 360. If the game is CPU heavy, the game will struggle and drop frames. Halo Reach seems to be the worst offender at the moment.

With Doom 3 being made BC, there's hope that non-GoD titles will also be made BC, specifically Nier and Sonic's UGC.

So, how's the Nightmare difficulty for the Doom 3 campaigns? Is there a noticeable difference in difficulty compared to Veteran? Now that it's BC, I'm thinking of going for those Nightmare achievements, plus the "find all PDAs/video journals" achievements.

I see Doom 3 in the store but can't buy it

There's no digital version of Doom 3, never was. This is the first disc-only game to be added to BC. Playing it requires you to download it though, and it's got a game hub, store page, achievements section, etc just like all other BC games.

Strange how when I put in the BFG edition disc, Classic Doom immediately booted up while it installed, and now that after I have the BFG edition installed, Classic Doom boots up when I put in the disc.
I guess I can get why it happens, but then...

no I don't get why that happens.

Is Doom 3.the first 3D 60 fps BC title?
TTT2 does S3D mode in unstable and unlocked wishing it could be 60fps-style, but I struggle to think of any S3D-capable X360 games that run beyond 30fps, anyway. Well, there is Tekken 6, too, but like TTT2, it runs at half of the normal 60fps performance. S3D never got much game support on X360...nothing like PS3 got, anyway.

Can't see why it automatically starts a game on disc recognition, but I'm pretty sure that Doom BFG for X360 came with both classic XBLA Dooms on-disc as part of the package and both are BC titles. When the system correctly identifies what's in the drive, any BC XBLA titles on-disc will automatically download and install. In your 'My games & apps' game list, you should see if the classic XBLA Dooms are installed.

I know that, on X360, any XBLA games included on a game DVD, usually a compilation disc, allowed you to play them from the storage it was installed to without having to start from the frontend on disc, but obviously required the disc in the tray just as X1 requires disc games to be when you start and play them.

Yeah it does, and I sorta get what it's doing, I just think it's weird that it'd start Classic Doom rather than Doom 3. I've had the classic Doom games installed on my Xbone since they were available to preview members. You had to have the disc in to play the arcade games on a 360 from what I remember, too (unless, of course, you already had digital copies from XBLA marketplace), and I think there was some weird thing about that too. Like you can launch them from within Doom 3 BFG and maybe the game installed the Classic games separately, so they showed up as arcade titles that still required the disc...

I dunno, I'm rambling, and I never messed around with that crap.

From the brief time I played Doom 3 proper, it ran extremely well for me too, as others have said.
I only got to the first areas that had demons, though. I was just seeing how it ran.

Oh, this was the weird thing I was remembering.

Damn it, that RDR2 leak has me all hyped and ready to replay RDR for the six trillionth time. I really hope they're not sitting on it as a pre-order bonus or something for RDR2.

Not that I'd really blame them, offering older BC titles as incentive for pre-ordering the newest entry in ____ series is actually pretty smart. But still. Blech.

I know this is off-topic, but as far as I know, Red Dead Redemption is RDR2 (the first game being Red Dead Revolver). I imagine the next game would be called Red Dead Revolution, Red Dead Revenge, or Red Dead (random word that starts with the letter R). I'm sure it won't be called Red Dead Redemption 2.

Talk about an unneeded post right here.

Since there's no GonD version, they can't make it through a code. Maybe enable an installed on the disc with the X1 license to run it?

The emulated version on the One is a GoD version.

And it is possible to have a digital title just for the One and not the 360 if the redemption code is a XBO code and not a 360 code.

Licensing server still only passes entitlements one way, which is why the 360 "store" on the One is just a mapping of the web interface.

Gears going a bit Raiders there.

Amazing how clean that game still looks.

How is Dead Space on Xbox One, any black crush or anything bad?

I went to play Dark Souls today and it won't let me load my character save. It says it can't detect the Artorias of the Abyss, so the save can't be used until that is downloaded. Problem is... it is downloaded.

Anyone run into this and what can I do about it?

It's totally necessary. The more educated people, the better. 8)

I know it was off-topic, but at least I was trying to inform rather than ironically pointing out how unnecessary someone else's post was.

So, just curious; does anyone know if there's any chance of the 360 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider being made BC? You know, for the people who still only had a 360 when RotTR was still new (or people who just feel like double dipping the achievements).

Doubtful. Microsoft pushed the game hard for Xbox One so that they could sell more consoles. Although I really enjoyed the 360 version, it'll likely be forgotten down the road.

I've got a new title that I would like to see become BC: Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. I know it is a lot less likely to get out up than most other titles, given what happened to THQ and wherever the license for this game fell. I would like to play more of it though. I got into the 40K universe about a year ago and had stopped playing my 360 at that point. I already had the game for quite a while but couldn't go back to it after getting into 40K.

Thanks to BC, you can now play the entire Gears of War, Halo, Banjo-Kazooie and Doom series on Xbox One!

EDIT: Forgot about Doom 64.

There is a chance. MS has this game on the Xbox BC Feedback so people can vote for the 360 version (i already did)

Here's the link:

I already got the game on One, but i don't mind playing it again (just like Titanfall for example) on 360 with GwG or something. If anyone wanna vote for the game, just go there (right now it's about 550 votes)

Don't mean to insult you, just going through the steps to make sure you booted "My Games & Apps," found and highlighted "Dark Souls," clicked the hamburger/Start button, went down to "Manage Game," and then installed "Artorias of the Abyss." Also, if you have done all that, make sure the installed game and the installed DLC are on the same HDD.

I was pretty excited for 360 BC to come to XB1. But some of these games have really bad input lag that's ruining it for me.

First game I played: pacman championship edition. Next game sonic 2 (though I heard maybe that's a problem with the sonic 2 to 360 port rather than the BC). And there's been a few more games I can't think of right now.

I'm not usually someone who even notices these kinds of things usually (heck I'm a PS4 remote play user!) but it's really made me hesitant to spend any more money on these things.

Is this a prevalent problem?
