Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

2 new characters, completely restructured combat system & reworked movelists in FS

but

if you value single player content, FS is not much more than an arcade port, whereas 5O has a good deal of SP content.

Don't forget that the animation system was reworked a lot! It's related to the combat engine, but it's its own bullet point, IMO, because of how much it changed the look of the game.

Is there a way to get your online status to show as private when playing a BC game?

It looks like you have to go into the Xbox 360 guide menu to change it every time, but perhaps that doesn't matter and your Xbox One setting overrides that.

Anyone know how this works?

Double tap the X button, go to the top, open your profile and do "appear offline"

Hope this is what you were asking for

You have to set the 360 dash to offline mode.

Start and select together to bring up the mini guide and hen you should be able to get to the setting on there somewhere

Does the XBO upscale games to a higher resolution while running them BC?

The XBO upscales everything you see to the resolution you picked in the system options. However, games do not RENDER in that resolution. The 360 did the same thing. The 360 games run at the same internal resolutions they do on the 360, and the XBO upscales that output to whatever your system-wide setting is.

Hang on!, so the ONLINE version has better single player content than the Final Showdown version!?........how ironic!

Virtua Fighter 5 Online is a full retail title, whereas Final Showdown is a much cheaper downloadable title. Of course they didn't include the campaign in the XBLA game. But they're both great in their own ways.

Personally i think Final Showdown is the better game and a strong contender for best VF period.

but don't tell VF4 fans I said that.

Am I doing something wrong or is there really no way to save progress in Arkanoid Live?

Edit: Looks like I'll have to finish all rounds of an episode in one sitting. Ain't nobody got time fo dat!

I know this is beating a dead horse, but Lost Odyssey. The only thing holding the game up is multi disc emulation, right? There's no legal issue or anything to do with rights? Microsoft holds the say in this games rerelease, correct?

What I'm getting at is Lost Odyssey on BC is a matter of when, not if, right?

They've already sorted multi-disk emulation (see Deus Ex Human Revolution: Director's Cut), and the fact that Blue Dragon is actively being worked on.

Given that MS said all first party published games (bar Kinect only games), will be made BC, I'd say that there's hope for Lost Odyssey yet.

Am I out of my mind, or wasn't TMNT '89 BC at one point? I could've sworn I had it on my Xbone at one time, but when I went to try to boot it up with my son last night, I didn't see it. I also don't see it here in the list. Am I crazy?

Not saying you're crazy, but no it hasn't been a BC title yet.

playing New Vegas while i wait for my arcade stick to arrive :)

My man, Going all out! Since I missed the timeframe to upgrade my ChronusMax, I think I will be doing the same thing... Still waiting for Raiden to go on sale as well and I definately want a stick for that. $50 is just a bit much for me to swallow right now.

I was playing a bit of COD2 but noticed the free "Bonus Map Pack" was not appearing. It's not even in the ready to install thing and in the ingame marketplace. Is anyone able to play on Vossenack or Wallendar? I kinda liked them.

Also, why isn't everyone playing in Toujane?

Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection being released for PS4 & Xbox One on November 17

Probably a good indication that Brotherhood and Revelations will not be BC

They should make them BC anyway if they think their remasters are worth it. The fact they don't want to risk it makes me think the remasters are not so good.

Sign in a profile on the One with your second controller, but most 360 games should trigger the "multi login" screen when you go into local multiplayer as well.

edit: this one

600px-MultiplayerSignin.jpg

The Multi Login screen is the problem, because not every game supports guest players and no other 360 profiles show up of course.

So I need an Xbox One Profile for the second 360 player`?

odd that New Vegas seems to render at 1080p while VF5 is still at 720p. I'm assuming NV was not 1080p on 360

Pretty sure I remember them both being native 720p, but FO: NV has 4xMSAA while VF5FS is 720p with a less impressive FXAA. When upscaled to 1080p, FO: NV looks softer, less jaggy while VF has more clear pixel edges. Higher contrast color schemes and clearer character silhouettes really emphasize the edges at times in VF5, as does the 60fps performance.

Forza Horizon is fixed with the latest update, making it my favorite BC game. I'm completely blown away by how well it performs and looks. Playground are a kicksss developer.

phil himself said that its a matter of when not if, also its the game he's most looking forward too

someone at work was giving way 360 games so I grabbed CoD2 just on the off chance there was still MP happening. And Burnout Revenge, CoD 3 and MW2, just in case.

I spent some time on Arkanoid Live yesterday, years after I stopped playing it. Nice little game, it remembered me how much I loved brick breakers as a kid. I even spent some money on new levels to support BC and give publishers more reasons to greelight support for older games. :)

Breakout/Pong-types always miss the mark for me when you're limited to digital and analog sticks. Was there ever a paddle controller released for X360? I recall some XBLA-targeted joystick from MS that included a little knob, but maybe that was just some weird third party accessory.

Trackballs and paddles need to make a comeback as mouse-like precision is limited by the physical drain of holding a position with IR/gyro pointers and accelerometer/gyro combo in controllers don't provide physical feedback of turning a dial. So many game actions and potentially fun and satisfying game mechanics could spring forth from having these antiquated controller types available as standard. Sometimes the old ways are best.

Over the moon about VF but ended up spending nearly 10 hours with New Vegas over the weekend while I wait for my stick to arrive. Having a blast with the XBO so far!

Good deal! I'm terrible at VF5FS and VF in general, but I always enjoyed the series none the less.
