Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

This is why I love Backward Compatibility.

None of those games were in my Top 10 most-requested games list. But I have fond memories of Bully from back in the day, and I've always been curious about Catherine.

Having bought both titles cheap in a sale long ago, I may fire both of them up this weekend - and that's certainly something I never expected to say yesterday.

So...running at an average of 300 games per year, in ideal conditions(publishers play ball), how long until every 360 game works on the xbox one?

If the average remains roughly the same about another three years. There is 1,182 Xbox 360 games at an average of 300 equals 3.94. This is according to wikipedia mind you.

That's retail only. Bill Stillwell said there was 1.9K in total a few month ago. There's also like 7k XBLIG apparently but I'm guessing they aren't gonna be made BC?

Also don't forget 300 is in its first year (well technically 1.5-2 years). The first 2-3 months were pretty bare in terms of games added. For the last like 6 or so months they've been putting them out like crazy so they obviously hit a major breakthrough w/ the emulator, I can see 500-600 games being added in 2017 barring publisher support of course.

It's easy to forget with all these additions, but keep in mind they used to release like 6 games a month, not a week.

Nice to see Catherine as that gives me hope that Persona Arena Ultimax might be on the table as well down the line. Not regretting buying it when it was on sale as much now.

Lets see if we can get...

Daytona
MG Rising
Rockstar Table Tennis
Vanquish
PRG4
Ninja Gaiden 2

before the years out

This was the last update for the year, BC team is going on holiday.

I hope they have a great one, its well deserved. Simply amazing work they have done this year, which cant be repeated enough.

Catherine and Bully on the same day? I don't own any of those but I know many will be happy by this.

The same week we got Bioshock 1 - I and Lost Odyssey digitally for free. BC team is on a roll!

Now we gotta free Raiden and snake , MGS HD collection please

Don't forget ZOE HD! Yes, MGS HD is my most highly desired game.

I use the Hotspot shield extension for chrome. Once you purchase the game, you can download it on the X1 without any region restriction.
That won't work for a 360 game. The XB1 store is region free, the 360 store is still locked.

please help me get around region lock for catherine. It isnt available digitally in India. I need it now. No physical copy in any store here althgouh it did release here physically on 360 at launch.

How do I switch region to USA and buy it for India?

You'd need to migrate your account to the US or create a new/temp US gamertag.

I know this is going to sounds backwards (pun intended), but between the stellar work the Backwards Compatible team has been doing, not just in releasing a slew of in-demand games in November/December, but also in improving the emulation on games so they are consistently running as well or better on the X1, and the recent NESBOX update, allowing X1-ers to play any SNES/NES/Genesis/Gameboy game on their console, with button configs and OneDrive supported save states, this console is just paying off again and again. Between that, Games With Gold and EA Access, I'm flooded with games to play. It's almost a bonus when something like Forza Horizon 3 comes out given how many freebies I have lying on my hard drive.

They said there would be an special way of preserving xblig games. Now that xbone supports monogame I'd love to see them re releasing most of them into as play anywhere titles, while keeping purchases for those who had already owned them.

But that seems a long shot given how they just dropped xblig before the previously deadline.

Very nice, I still needed to finish Bully. A lot of my backlog is now accumulating on my Xbone hard drive, at least it will be easier to find it. ^^

Tweet from Major Nelson: "Before Xbox One Backward Compatibility team takes some time off for holidays, we have 6 new releases today. Releases resume after New Year"

I assume Catherine, Bully, and Raskulls are three of the six...? And the others are ???

Edit: Doh! Beaten by @dorikyasu. :-)

Edit 2: It'll be weird having a Tuesday and Thursday pass by and not have any chance for a new release. Excellent work by the team over the past year!

you do realize that games are released as they pass, and maybe that was one easy.

I didnt say that. I just have the habit of looking up how many votes and comments requested games have on the Xbox Uservoice page and this one had zero.

I think its great that they have a variety of games on BC.

I am happy to see Catherine on the list. I rarely replay games but that is one I felt like I might return to one day. Bully is a nice get too. I stared replaying that last year and stuff got in the way. I'll transfer my save to the cloud this weekend and resume it.

Well, after reading so many comments over the last few months about how good Bully was, I bought it yesterday. You better be right GAF!

You could import a disc and play it no problem...not sure if it has English subs though :P

Not particularly interested in Clannad, but is this confirmed? I know the BC emu is region free and you can play (disc) games from other regions, but this Clannad is was region locked. I mean, this is not a game which was release worldwide but I choose to buy the Japanese or Asian version because of.... reasons (?), this game never made it outside Japan.
I hope it works, this would open a possibility to play lots of games Japan exclusive or games like No More Heroes Paradise in the future
