Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Big Stuntman Ignition apologist here! I got kinda obsessed with it, in fact. I believe I already maxed every scene out, but hopefully there's still some stuff to mop up. It would be nice if the performance is improved a bit, too.

I'm loving that they are putting underappreciated or neglected stuff up. Gives games like Raskulls and Mutant Storm Empire, both of which I intended to buy at some point, another chance to shine. And as someone who buys most games on PC these days, games like those and Shadows Of The Damned that never made it off last gen to Steam are the ones that make backwards compatibility such a great reason to have the Xbox One out. Sure, we'll get some turds but I'd rather that than just focusing on the big AAA stuff.

Same here. I would take stuff like Raskulls and JUJU (even though I have no idea what that is :P) any day over huge AAA games. I would much prefer to preserve small digital experiences instead of disc based ones

Disc based exclusives should be the priority where possible. In later releases the XBLA titles were lacking a certain prestige compared to the early days once the file sizes were raised.

Yeah, I might fire up Stuntman Ignition... Had a lot of fun with that one back in the day, and I picked it up years ago for about $5.

Surprised NG2 hasn't been done yet since it's an MS studio published game.

You'd be surprised how many MS published games and MS owned IP haven't been brought over yet.

I'm still eagerly awaiting Crackdown 1/2, Charlie Murder, and Fable: Anniversary....

Juju's a fun game and well worth playing. I have it on Steam, from the same folks who made Hard Reset/Shadow Warrior1/2. It's not going to trouble Mario in platforming quality but I found it to be a very likeable game.

Seeing as how Thq published / developed? Stuntman ignition, what are the chances that WWE all stars gets the Xbox one treatment? Hopefully good right?

Phil Spencer said "January looks pretty good for BC."

So this month is now over and these are the games that were made available in January:

Rocket Knight
Shadows of the Damned
Alice: Madness Returns
Midway Arcade Origins
Mutant Storm Empire
Tekken 6
Beat'n Groovy
Mega Man 9
Mega Man 10
Battlefield 3
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Scrap Metal
The Splatters
Strania

An OK list but not in the "pretty good" level if you ask me. What do you think?? BF3 and BF:BC2 are big and had many votes, Shadows of the Damned, Alice, Dragon Age and Ghostbusters aswell, but the rest...nope.

Chances are low, stuntman code and brand are owned by one company, wwe would require the rights holder to the original game code, the current licence holder, and obviously the WWE, to come to an agreement (not counting any wrestlers who may have had individual contracts)

It's not all about the votes (fortunately). I haven't even played any of those games yet, but it does look like a pretty good list. There's quantity, diversity in genre, some big names and some lesser known ones... I wouldn't say great, but pretty good yeah.

Also Hulk Hogan. Never going to happen.

For me, the votes is an indication on what is considered popular or not.

They are, but quality isn't only about popularity. A good BC library should include many different things, if they were only going for popularity we would be getting shooters and not much else.

I'm sure Phil's scale of quality BC games is a generous one. As long as theirs a few big titles sprinkled in with the rest, in this case Battlefield, Dragon age, and Tekken, then he'll probably say it's good.

you're kidding, right?

Shadows of the Damned
Alice: Madness Returns
Tekken 6
Mega Man 9
Mega Man 10
Battlefield 3
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Ghostbusters: The Video Game

All mega games. I don't care about votes. Jan was a great month.

Pretty good, means not too bad or somewhat good.
Or even, ok.

"Ok"?? Two Battlefield games, Tekken, Dragon Age are all pretty big games on their own without the others even added in

What's he supposed to say?
"January looks horrible as far as BC goes"
Come on now. By the way, like others, I disagree that this was just an okay list. I think it was a great month for BC.

I'm starting to think Dragon's Dogma will get a re-release on Scorpio. We know Capcom is willing to support/approve BC. However, I understand why they wouldn't want to put a dent in their PC sales. Maybe that's just wishful thinking though.

Ability to "hack" the console with a backdoor method using an exploit in software, such as memory leaks. Agent Under Fire for OG Xbox had an exploit, as well as SSB Brawl and Indiana Jones Lego for Wii.

Oh I see.

Should be tougher on xbone since the game os is contained in a vm and no one other than ms has access to the main os. And with uwp and game mode I'm not sure there's even the intent of hackers to try it.

Marcan could rely on webkit and an outdated freebsd 9 to use known exploits or to improve on them.
With Xbox, you start completely blind and you have to break way more layers of an unknown system that is potentially very hard to crack.

Would love that, especially since Scalebound isn't gonna be a thing anymore.

New achievement list to 100% and 60FPS would guarantee a purchase from me.

I really hope that's capcom's strategy with ALL of their 7th gen titles cause their support of BC so far has been abysmal:

No Street Fighter (2HD, 3S:Online, Vanilla IV, Super IV)
No Resident Evil (Revelations 1, Raccoon City)
No Lost Planet (1, 2, or 3)
No Dragons Dogma
No Remember Me
No DMC (HD Collection)
No Darkstalkers Resurrection

And that's all stuff that afaik, have no currently announced or released remasters that prevent them from seeing a release (although Ultra IV on PS4 might explain the absence of the IV series), even though that shouldn't be that big of a deal anyway, since Bioshock didn't seem to have a problem.
