Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Its really starting to look like microsoft think they have done enough and are cutting back support for the program.

Not if you consider how many no show release Tue/Thurs dates we had in February compared to previous months. Also, coincides with the start of the new year.

Too early? let's see if this a trend for March as well.

Well, a quick look to the number of BC announced on Jan and Feb 2016 compared to the number of games announced the same months of 2017 will tell you how right or wrong you are. You might be surprised
, but I think you are wrong
You can check it yourself on Wikipedia, which has a list of BC games with the announced date.

In January and February they were releasing titles in waves, and honestly, I would argue the quality of games this year so far more than makes up for a smaller number of games.

I don't follow. Are you implying the quality of the games this year is higher or smaller? Quality is subjective, but the scale of the game matters, I think:
2016 (Jan-Feb): 17 games announced. 16 of them were Arcade games.
2017 (Jan-Feb): 28 games announced: 14 of them were Arcade games.

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, I'm just saying that it's way too early to gut-feel MS is pulling of the cord in regards of the BC because two tuesdays in a row there were no announcements when in terms of numbers (and scale of the games announced) is not true.

It's not February.

BO2 any minute now.

I come to this topic every couple of months to see if there's any update or hint of Vesperia becoming backward compatible. I am real close to buying a 360 just to play it.

With Capcom's support for both Play Anywhere and more importantly Xbox Game Pass, I feel we might be seeing a bunch more titles from them sooner rather than later.

Yeah if gamepass is going to launch soon I expect a bunch of publishers to sign off on their games becoming BC so they can be added to that service.

You're not wrong.

Meet the Robinsons and Cars 2.

Kachow.

Edit: Dead Rising 2: Case Zero and Dead Rising 2: Case West as well.

Hmm. No DR1 or DR2? Sounds like Capcom is still not 100% on board. If they got the DR2 DLC/Expansions to run on BC then there is no excuse for DR2 at the very least to be missing. Guess it will remained locked behind the half-ass remaster and not hit BC just yet.

If there were two games that would be at the bottom of my BC wishlist, it would be those games.

Edit: I'll take Case Zero and Case West though!

This makes me happy. I really liked Case Zero before I played DR2, and never got around to playing Case West.

I think I'll dive into that and maybe finally get around to playing Off the Record via the remaster.

hmm, Case Zero's not showing up for me...

Yea it's really weird. Is the dlc in the remaster?

They should force publishers to release the main games alongside the expansions just like they do with dlc alongside main games. No reason it shouldn't go both ways.

What was Case West and how is it different from Off the Record?

Also, wasn't Case Zero like a two hour standalone preview of Dead Rising 2 before it came out? That's barely a game.

There are remasters out of all the other titles. The whole series can now be played on Xbox One. There's not a deep need for them to do BC for the main entries since they've been remastered, it's just an optional step at this point

Well one of the benefits of BC is for people who already own the games on 360 to be able to play them on Xb1 without double-dipping. I'm pretty sure I'll never buy the remaster of DR2, but wouldn't mind going back to my unfinished session (well to be fair it would just be another line on my backlog, but one I would be happy to see :) )

It was a smaller, short, separate game, but it was a game. It was also only five dollars.

Case Zero and Case West were not included in the remaster from what I remember. I think forcing publishers to do anything is just going to turn them off of the idea of allowing their games to be pushed forward to BC.

They already do it with main games though. They're required to come with all dlc as bc too.

Even with gta 4 where it's standalone they both came the same day too. I doubt they both finished testing at exactly the same time, so I assume the main game was held back a bit for the dlc to be ready.

I just think it should go both ways. It shouldn't be a 1 way steet. But I guess if they did then they might not have got permission for the dlc. Dunno. It's silly is all.

Honest question:

During Dead Rising 2 Games with Gold offering, Case Zero was bundled.
Will I be able to play Case Zero, since it's a standalone or not?
(am not at home and can't check if it's on Ready to Install. On Xbox marketplace Case Zero appears with price, so not linked to my acc)

Anyone else have an issue with DR2 Case Zero not showing up in the Ready to Install list. I own the game and says already purchased on the website, but it doesn't show up and says see price on the XB1 marketplace. I was able to install Case West without any issue.

Yes it's standalone. Good to see these games come to BC, hopefully with frame rate improvements. Case Zero was barely playable on 360 especially during the final sequence and Case West wasn't much better.

It appeared in my ready to install list but it says 'already purchased' on xbox.com for me.

Thought to myself "Oh cool, Cars 2 would be fun for my 5 year old, he loves those characters!" after seeing the new releases.

*Checks Amazon for 360 copy*

Buy New - $79.99. *spit take*

Is this just because of the BC? Or was the game super rare? I know I can buy a used copy for 25 bucks but even that seems steep for a licensed game that's like 6-7 years old.

It's fulfilled by Amazon but it's from a third party seller, most third parties will price hike just like eBay, highest one on eBay is $109. Most likely this game is OOP and probably didn't sell well so used copies are likely limited.

It's $19.99 on marketplace
