Everything was 2016.

And then next year delayed to 2017.

And at E3 2016 everything will be 2017.

etc etc

Not to say that stuff doesn't look great. It's just so many things I want from both Sony and MS are "next year" and they always seem to be "next year".

Yeah.

This year there's only:
Screamride
Ori and the Blind Forest
State of Decay remaster
Rare Replay
Gears Ultimate
Halo 5
Tomb Raider
Forza 6
Fable Anniversary

Plus backwards compatibility and a new OS.

I prefer the PS4 games for 2016, but there sure are some nice games for the One too... hoping to borrow one some time.

I'm expecting Sea of Thieves and Crackdown to be delayed but yeah, they've got a strong lineup there. Very tempted to pick up an Xbox One.

Love the line up by MS. They are really giving people a lot of reasons to buy an XB1. So impressed with what Phil has done. 4 new triple A IP in one year is pretty incredible.

Scalebound - I need to see more. I was expecting to be more impressed. I get a Too Human vibe from this game... I had high hopes for that game and was ultimately disappointed.

Crackdown - Enjoyed the first one, will keep my eyes on this one.

Quantum Break - This one looks amazing. Solid gameplay with Hollywood worthy story.

Gears of War 4 - Will likely pick this up. Enjoyed Coop over LIVE.

Recore - This one I am the most excited about... but also very little is known about the title. I love story driven games and this one gives me the feeling that it will have a strong narrative.

Sea of Thieves - Interested because of Rare's reputation, but will likely wait and see on reviews and if friends pick it up.

Yea it's gonna be an expensive year if you own both consoles. im glad to see Xbox invest in 1st party games. I just worry about Recore & it's short dev cycle. Crackdown 2 was made in 2 years so anytime I hear a dev time under 3 my eyebrow raised faster than the Rock's.

What was 2015 that turned into 2016? Quantum Break only.

What was 2014 that turned into 2015? Quantum Break only!

There have hardly been any XB1 delayed games, I really don't get why people think this is a thing for Xbox.

I don't know if "stacked' is the word i'd use, but its a decent sized list. Along with third parties, it should be good time for Xbox owners

A lot of exclusives, yes. It's not like all of them are going to be hits though. Most of them will probably be good games, but not console selling (other than Gears of War 4), which is what I'm sure the Xbox team would like.

If QB ends up being awesome then maybe that will be system seller too

Shinobi said it's been in a development for a long time.

Didn't Spencer wear a Crackdown shirt back at the first Xbox One E3 in addition to having a Crackdown orb as one of the icons on the dashboard. I want to believe that suggests it was more than just an idea as far back as the first half of 2013.

David Jones co-founded Cloudgine in January 2012 according to his LinkedIn.

I think this will amount to more than 2 years of development time by mid 2016. It's probably closer to 3.

When were Crackdown and Recore confirmed for 2016? I don't remember seeing that happen. Even if they were I seriously doubt either of them will make it. They both seem way too early in development.

man that montage at the end of Gamescom conference gave me goosebumps

bring it on Xbox.

That line up is insane, maybe even better than this year one, which is already impressive, with Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Forza 6, Gears of War UE and Rare Replay...i wouldn't quote Phil but seems like Xbox One could be the best place to play in 2015/2016

Ah cheers. I really dont see how a game that has been sight unseen outside of a CG trailer is gonna wrap development by the end of 2016 though. Going by the crackdown reveal at Gamescom it looks really early as well. It is lso telling that it is only the Multiplayer that is announced as 2016. What an odd thing to do. Personally, I would be very surprised if either actually drops in 2016 regardless of their announced targets. They both seem more like 2017 titles to me.

I think it's pretty impressive we just a little over half way through 2015 but we already know 2016 is going to bring us 7 potentially amazing exclusives.

Recore
Gears of War 4
Halo Wars 2
Sea of Thieves
Quantum Break
Crackdown
Scalebound

*Killer Instinct Season 3

As well as indies like Inside, Below and Cuphead.

I just hope we get updates soon on Twisted Pixel and Press Play.

Forza Horizons 3 is a safe bet and I'm sure they haven't announced the entire 2016 line up yet.

isn't Quantum break the only game releasing in the first half of the year though next year? Everything else said Holiday of 2016 or just 2016 in general....usually meaning the fall or holiday season.

EDIT: nvm just saw record and crackdown 3.....bout time they started spreading it out

edit: recore spring of 2016? LOL, yes....something tells me that is getting delayed to later in the year or 2017. Have we even seen any gameplay footage on it yet?

Yeah..Well I am interested in how they are gonna deal with 2017...Seems like they really need a third big franchise to fill the gap between the Gears & Halo years...
I think that a 3rd person action/exploration game could do well...personally I am hoping for SSO2 for 2017

Also, I was watching their E3 presser again recently, and they referred to Recore and a new exclusive "Franchise"...So it makes me wonder if they plan to make it into a series...

A lot of people thought Sunset Overdrive wasn't ready for a 2014 release because they had only shown a CG trailer.

Crackdown and probably Sea of Thieves will be games as a service with more updates and content throughout their lifetime.

ReCore didn't have game play at E3 - I'm guessing it'll get pushed to 2017.

Sea of Thieves also looked like it was a bit further out than next year.

The rest of the list is solid - 2016 is shaping up to be great.

Well they have Halo Wars 2 coming in what I would assume to be 2017. A lot of people seem to be excited about that.

Has there been any talk of Crackdown as a games as service game? I've not gotten that impression from what I've seen at all. Sea of Thieves definitely gives off that vibe though.

While you have a fair point about Sunset Overdrive Insomniac is a known quantity and we know what to expect from them (for the most part) quality wise. The same cannot be said of the Recore dev studio. I would imagine the marketing department would want to show actual gaemplay to assuage any doubts or fears prior to release. Thus the fact we have yet to see any is more of a red flag in this instance.

Cuphead is all that I'm excited about. I hope it does well and then comes to other platforms (Vita).
it's only on PC and XB1

I'm guessing they will have the next halo, Undead labs game, another forza, maybe Sunset overdrive 2

Forza 7, H3 anniversary is possible even though there's BC I think they'll do it just to carry on tradition and pad out the year, Lionhead's new IP, Undead labs new game

Wild guesses could be Minecraft 2 or Minecraft spinoff game like Minecraft Kart, Sunset Overdrive 2, Ori and the Blind Forest 2.

Crackdown 3 won't get more than a beta next year.

I wonder if Lionhead's new IP will fit the bill. It was summer 2014 when their studio head said they were working on prototypes and we should hear about their new IP by now. I guess it's being kept in the shadows until after Fable Legends is out, and possibly as long as next E3. In any case, if they were targeting late 2017 then that would be about 3 years of work.

I'm sure there will be more Forza and Halo since they're both annual franchises now. Another Rare game is probably in the cards since they have all 4 development barns with "equally secret amounts of stuff." Twisted Pixel supposedly has an AAA IP in the works. It's also quite clear by now that MS is working with third-party devs to work on new or existing IP, so no telling what else could be in store.

I was using Crackdown 2's short dev cycle as to why I'm skeptical about Recore. I recall during e3 Inafune said its only been in development 18 months. Crackdown 3 you're right about. I think they learned their lesson with how they handled 2.

knowing microsoft, everything will probably be stacked and released during november and december.....

and some games will be sent out to die because of that.

Crackdown 2 had 13 months in its entirety and was just Microsoft being cheap, ReCore had 14 months up to E3 and is going full steam ahead at this point. If the game isnt done they'll delay it, Aaron Greenberg said it something to that effect.

Microsoft dun goofed with MCC but I think they're doing a good job of getting behind their titles, theres 3 teams on ReCore (Armature, Comcept and MS). I have little in the way of concerns over how they'll treat it, they wont fuck it up to be cheap or stupid.

What are they going to talk about at next years E3. Not sure what they are working on for 2017, whatever it is it should be currently in development, so maybe Phantom Dust. Hope it's not Halo 6 and Forza 7...
