xboxyde GRAW footage

Before the bitching/nitpicking starts, let me just remind people that this is a one month old build of a game that will be released in 4 months.
Actually it's the very first really playable build, and it's missing a lot of graphical effects and features. Not even mentioning the numerous bugs and missing collision stuff. The E3 build was rather special in the sense that it had most of the graphical effects, but was totally scripted and could do nothing than what was shown (at least that's what I understood). They did not have time to prepare a special build for X05 so they just used that "stable" build.

This is when my "I love Blimblim" turns into " -_- Blimblim". Lets bitch first then you can defend later :p :lol

It looks horrible. I watched a gameplay vid at gametrailers and I was shocked; what happened to the beautiful near CG footage we saw a while back?

To speak frankly I never though this game had such a CG look. Remove the grain filter, and you get a rather standard looking game. Actually, just like what was running at X05...

Well maybe "near CG footage" is a bit of an overstatement but I remember the positive reactions from members when the vid was released. It a good thing it was delayed, hopefully it will look as good as the earlier vid(if not better) when it is finished.

I think the game will look the same as what was shown at E3. And I personally think it was not that incredible looking, but that's just my humble opinion.

It's not really the graphics that bother me but the animation was so much more smoother in the original video, and it just looked like it played better.

I remember people praising the animation from that E3 video but ragging on the graphics.

I also remember new scans/screenshots that looked just like the ones Blim captured from the video and reading exclamations of "NEXT GEN AM HERE".

normally I'd agree with you, but this time the bitching is justified IMO.

They showed that footage at E3, and made no comment about it not being real. They even said it was coming out for the launch window until very very recently. Then they show this?

Its clear they are now stuck trying to replicate the great E3 footage, but what was shown was little more than an average PC game.

It was going to be my first GR game too. I'm very disappointed.

the animation and all the effects when that bomb went off was what impressed the hell outta everyone, not so much the graphics.

Did you get to film any of Condemned by chance Blim? Would love to see some high rez footage of that.

Unfortunately the camcorder was not recording when I thought it was, so no condemned footage. It would not have been interesting though, the guy playing had no idea what to do...
Very interesting game btw.

Ah ok. Thanks anyway. Care to give some brief impressions of what you saw? Has it improved much from the older builds?

I can't comment on the improvements since I never saw the E3 build running, but the game was running quite smoothly at X05. It seems like a very interesting mix of CSI for the science part, SeVen for the atmosphere and Kingping for some rather gruesome fights.
Not really the type of game I'd play (not a fan of FPS), but it certainly is no ordinary game.

I understand what you're doing Blim, but it's Ubisoft's fault for showing off the game this way. Regardless of how the game shapes up when it's finished, they could just choose to show off a video trailer, or they could make a public statement about the build of the game to clear up confusion. But because they don't do that, I see no reason for anyone to defend them.

I'm not defending them at all, just want to make sure that people don't see this as a what the final game WILL look like. This is GAF you know, and I think I'm starting to understand a bit how some people think, so a bit a preemptive damage control was better than 3 pages of "Xbox 1.5 LOLOL" ;)
For the record, I couldn't care less about this game. Ghost Recon 1 bored me to death, and I did not even try playing GR2.

Actually i also could never see what made people say GRaw looked incredible. It looked fairly simple from a technical pov at least.
What made it look very good in motion was its animations, transitions between different movements and soldiers interacting with the scenery in a very non-videogamish looking way.
I'm not surprised it was scripted...and i'm not surprised actual in-game animations make everything look quite conventional again.

I found GR2 much better than GR1. The online co-op with six or more players is a blast.

GR1 had that same coop, but much better missions. The GR2 missions are mostly pretty blegh. Summit Strike improves that quite a bit though.
