Have you watched Mushi shi? If you look at main characters design it's not exactly "flashy"…The XB3 characters thus far all look like they do their shopping at Old Navy. Maybe it makes sense in the world they live in, but if so, that world is boring.
Ok sure, but that anime is not about cyber swords, mecha, aliens, etc.Have you watched Mushi shi? If you look at main characters design it's not exactly "flashy"…

But that didn't made world "boring" at all and in fact Musi she's world was fascinating, his design perfectly match the tone they were going for.
It also about war and child soldiers, similar how you dont see "flashy" cloths in shows like The Legend of Galactic Heroes even tho its about space battles.Ok sure, but that anime is not about cyber swords, mecha, aliens, etc.
I wouldn't watch this anime based on that picture alone, so... checks out for my tastes, I guess. It also about war and child soldiers, similar how you dont see "flashy" cloths in shows like The Legend of Galactic Heroes even tho its about space battles.

The character design needs to match the tone and type of story they are going for.
See I never understood this kind of hysterical reactions about Pyra (I assume that's what people mostly criticize with the chara designs in 2 because she's the heroine). I always thought Pyra's design was rather tame and never got why she provoked this kind of insane hostility. She doesn't even have that much of an exaggerated body, Xeno 3's new girls essentially have the same proportions as her yet they're seemingly acceptable while Pyra was outrageous. Very bizarre. Now see, this is a clearly "anime design" that is "sexy" to people (aesthetically speaking only. . .I hope) without going the "Fuck it just throw some tape on her huge milkers" style armor route.
I also dont have issue XC2 designs at all, it matches type of story they are going for, I have much bigger issue with XCX's doll face character models.See I never understood this kind of hysterical reactions about Pyra (I assume that's what people mostly criticize with the chara designs in 2 because she's the heroine). yep, same with people complaining about Fire emblem and wifefus, but its never been more popularPeople still complaining about XB2's designs. They thought it would hurt the game's sales. It didn't. Made Xenoblade even more popular. Learn to live with it.
Its seems no matter what they do people will keep complaining, when XC2 came out people complained the character designs was too flashy and now with 3rd game is not flashy enough.People still complaining about XB2's designs. Yup. All those characters look like plastic. To me XCX models felt like all character were made through character creation.

And they had very limited facial expression, very similar to Star Ocean 4 3D models.

I love everything about World Trigger (except the long release date between chapters), so it's a win for me!The XB3 characters thus far all look like they do their shopping at Old Navy. Maybe it makes sense in the world they live in, but if so, that world is boring. They're in an anime inspired videogame. They could have any sort of visual style and we've gone with the most mundane one. I still think that the characters have a "World Trigger" design, which despite being a decent show for other reasons was absolutely a snoozer visually.

I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Is this real?![]()

So now we know why their outfits are blander this time around. Its to facilitate them switching jackets between each other to visually indicate the change in job class they are currently using.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not. Is this real?
Awful lol.Yes. They swap jackets when they change classes.

Awful lol.
This is like the "don't you talk to me or my son ever again" meme come to life.

How would you have addressed them switching classes? Would you have been cool with just the weapon change as the indicator or should they have made six unique outfits for each class per character?
Because in Final Fantasy XII from I can remember they were only 4 characters in active battle, while in XC3 they can go up to 7 characters in active battle.People played FFXII just fine with no visual clues as to which job class the characters were.
I'll hold out judgement until we get more gameplay stuff, but it seems as if the characters work in tandem pairs, so it's more like 3 character pairs than 6 individual characters. I don't know yet if we can issue individual commands to each character or you give a general command to the pair and they follow through with it. If it's done in pairs, it's exactly like FFXII - 3 characters (pairs) with a guest 4th position. Regardless, having a color coded jacket scheme seems really lazy, to me at least, and confirms that we get almost no customization to the characters or their outfits.Because in Final Fantasy XII from I can remember they were only 4 characters in active battle, while in XC3 they can go up to 7 characters in active battle.
From all information we have so far it seems to me pairs mostly about them turning in to Ouroboros, it seems you can give command to your party members through "Tactics" command.I'll hold out judgement until we get more gameplay stuff, but it seems as if the characters work in tandem pairs, so it's more like 3 character pairs than 6 individual characters. I wonder how it works if you have your pair set to "tank", for example. Do they both taunt at the same time? Is there a need for 2 "tank" class characters at the same time? Same with 2 healers I guess. From all information we have so far it seems to me pairs mostly about them turning in to Ouroboros, it seems you can give command to your party members through "Tactics" command.

I personally dont have issue with the the way class outfit works, combat in XC3 much bigger scale than pervious games and we have two different type of Tank, Healer and Attacker class so those outfit shows what type class your character is in during hit of the battle.
The MC in DQXI looks like Trunks.DQ11 the male cast is pretty distinct visually.
It seems XC3 Tank class can give other party members defence boosts, so you can have Mio who is Evade Tank draw enemy's aggro while Lanz can buff defence of other party members.wonder how it works if you have your pair set to "tank", for example. Do they both taunt at the same time? Is there a need for 2 "tank" class characters at the same time? Same with 2 healers I guess.
DBZ is pretty popular even among none anime watchers, my younger bother who doesn't play any games let alone JRPGs but he casually watched couple episode of DBZ but as soon as he saw the MC in DQXI he thought he was trunksguarantee you that if you show those two DQ11 characters to random people, the last thing that will come to their minds is Trunks and Gohan.
Worst case scenario, they'll just ask if they're from DBZ.
Well Akira Toriyama's generally have very different style compare to others, but his artstyle doesn't fit the aesthetic Xenoblade going for.The sword on the back and smooth hair might confuse when looking from behind. But from the front they're nothing alike.
Regardless, compared to other recent JRPGs, DQ11 still has more distinct looking male characters than the average SAO generic hero.
You can set all tanks/healer/attackers for the Blade on Xenoblade 2.I wonder how it works if you have your pair set to "tank", for example. Do they both taunt at the same time? Is there a need for 2 "tank" class characters at the same time? Same with 2 healers I guess.
But now we have 7 party members in active battle, now think about all them DPS attacker. You can set all tanks/healer/attackers for the Blade on Xenoblade 2.
We'll get speedrunning a superboss video lolBut now we have 7 party members in active battle, now think about all them DPS attacker.

Nobody wants those big ass weapons visible all the time, that would mess with customization.Huh, so it's confirmed no weapon when running on the field. That's kinda disappointing.
Also, some new plot description from Gamestop
Live to fight and fight to live in a warring world with a dark secret. Every minute counts for the soldiers of Aionios who are given a mere 10 years to live and fight. Join Noah and Mio, members of the two opposing nations at the center of this conflict, on a heartfelt journey to end the cycle of violence. A group of six characters from these nations join together to awaken the colonies of Aionios to the underlying threat both nations face. Traverse massive, fantastical sci-fi landscapes as you expose the true enemy pulling the strings behind the conflicts.
To me it make sense, I mean Lanz's weapon super big and Eunie's weapon is very long, it awkward see them caring big weapons like that on their backs while on field.Huh, so it's confirmed no weapon when running on the field. That's kinda disappointing.
Interesting, I understand why Mio might have limited time since she is Flash Eater. Also, some new plot description from Gamestop

What kind of customization? Xenoblade 2 have weapon customization and we can see the weapons in smaller form.Nobody wants those big ass weapons visible all the time, that would mess with customization.
Sharla also have big sniper rifle lol.To me it make sense, I mean Lanz's weapon super big and Eunie's weapon is very long, it awkward see them caring big weapons like that on their backs while on field.
Maybe there is story reason for that, because you can see Nopon's weapons on their backs but not main party members.Sharla also have big sniper rifle lol.
I like seeing the weapons variety, not just in battle.

I just saw an analysis from a Japanese YouTuber. His theory isAlso I'm wondering why their weapons is called "Blade" because I don't think the the "Blade" system from 2nd game is returning in 3rd game.
