Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition – Coming March 20th, 2025 (Nintendo Switch)

I didn't love it the first time around, but I'm willing to give it another chance. I'm curious what the additional story content is going to look like - the original was waaaaaay too sparse on that front, and then the last like ten minutes of the game were super cool and intriguing. That was frustrating.

I also think this means that the last WiiU game that I really want to make the leap over is Yoshi's Wooly World. Someday.
Thank you for not forgetting about poor Yoshi’s Woolly World. The lone remaining game locked to Wii U. And we just won’t even speak of the 3DS rerelease.

No question they’ll do one. But they’ll make like 20,000 of them and none of us will be able to get one because they’ll all be sold by scalpers.
Wii U collectors edition was awesome. It came in a big box with an excellent art book and the soundtrack on a USB stick.

Also with the Wii U version you could attach a USB hard drive and it’d install some of the game files there for faster loading. I don’t know if any other games did that.

Oh I remember. I made use of the download packs for sure. It was the only one that did it. Because the game was so damn big the disc took forever to load.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

If even DKC Returns can come back from the abyss that is the Wii and its waggle controls, I believe Yoshi can do the same. I'd be down for the additional 3DS content, too, just... not looking and running like absolute garbage.

Wooly World also still has one of the all-time great soundtracks. Xenoblade Chronicles X could learn a thing or two.

Scalpers are ready for grabbing the whole 201 special edition Nintendo will produce.

Nintendo are better off selling those themselves straight on eBay..

Now we just need a Xenosaga collection and a Xenogears remake
There is a chance with Xenosaga with amount of reference of them we got in both Xeboblade 2&3 but I’m not sure we gonna get Xenogears (I hope we do).

Don’t know what to tell you. People on GAF who loved Chronicles tended to dislike X.

Hey, the new Dragon Age has same critic score! Wonder what GAF is saying about it.

Anecdotal evidence from 9 years ago doesn't really hold weight, unfortunately. All empirical evidence (reviews of the original release, reactions here in this very thread and everywhere else online) show that the game is universally beloved.

No Xenoblade X was less popular mostly for it was on WiiU and was less story driven compare to pervious Xenoblade games.

But Xenoblade X still very much beloved and I’m also hoping the game expand on story in DE much more.

No one can’t deny the fact Xenoblade X has greatest open world in JRPG, both the scale and how you traverse through them with your mechs.

Would've rather seen them wait to release this on Switch 2 but I'll take it. Put 200 hours into the Wii U version.
This basically confirms BC, it has new content. They wouldn’t let the multiplayer be dead at end of Switch life.

This is actually perfect Switch 2 launch or cross game. For the features in the game!

IIRC XCX got slightly lower review scores in Japan. Then there was some doom and gloom in the western fanbase that focused on the Japanese review scores and especially on how different the game was from XC1 (including some bullshit about it being more of a mmo-like game and less story/character driven).

Then it released in the US and most of us realized it’s a kickass game and many of us ended up liking it more than the first. But that dark cloud of pessimism stuck around for a while.

Man, i always wanted to play this game..I have a Wiiu..but don't see a reason to buy it on there when I was hoping to have it on the Switch.

The game’s review scores really didn’t impact my enjoyment or experience playing. It’s just words. The game speaks for itself. I greatly enjoyed my time with it, warts and all. I hope the DE on Switch fixes and tweaks some of the common gripes.

I might have to get this. Had a good time with it on Wii U,I kinda lost interest (or didn't have time to fool with it anymore) after getting a mech.

Is this game more like the first where you can customize individual pieces of armor? it is one of the let downs I have with 2 after playing the DE of the original on switch.

I've been putting off getting the Xenoblade Chronicles definitive works edition. I picked up a copy today in case this news increases demand for the first game. I played through maybe 80% of the game on the Wii. Tried XBC2 several times and always bored to death. I'm curious if my tastes have changed or if the first game is just that good.

I just had an update on my Switch, coincidentally went and checked the news menu, expecting nothing in particular. Discover the antics of Mario and friends. Ok. Gametrials. Super Mario Party Online Jamboree out now. Hmm. Scrolls down to see whatever else is new since last I checked. New classic Nintendo 64 games added. Oh nice. Clicks on it. Shadowman and Turok 2 very nice. Goes back to the menu. Just announced Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. Eh what. Sees the picture of the game. Whaaa Whaaaaaat. Whaaaaa... yeash, I actually started to scream out the words. Watches the demo. Was that very last bit new? Will they add to the story? Yessss. Nintendo saving the best for last. My favorite Xenoblade.Oh yeas oh yeas oh yeas...

I've never beaten a Xenoblade game. I get bored with the combat. I should try 3 again though. I'm sure I'll buy this one and never finish it like the others lol.

Sweet and it comes out early next year. The trailer shows off some nice touch ups.
Yup, the character models biggest improvement, which now they have actual proper expression instead of doll face similar to Star Ocean 4.

This is never going to be 60fps on Switch. Fuck this, should have waited for Switch 2. Then, maybe Switch 2 won't be more powerful than Switch 1.

Hopefully they make the text possible to read. Some of it was barely visible on TV.

The rest of the 1st party WiiU games that haven't been ported to the Switch:

Do you really think Canvas Curse is an almost guaranteed and not too gamepad reliant? I don't think that game would be nearly as playable without the gamepad honestly. And I would be so into a Devils Turd switch port 😆

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

Honestly, I would have thought the same about Xenoblade Chronicles X before it was announced this morning.

Probably based off of the censored EN version, but at least they fixed (most of) the faces.

I'm hyped for this and will buy it, but part of me really wishes they waited until Switch 2 so the textures could get proper upgrades. That trailer looks rough by today's standards, despite the art style and Monolith's ability to push Nintendo's shitty hardware to the max of what it's capable of.

Maybe in the coming months we'll see Switch 2 revealed and it will get a special edition for that instead.

oh fuck my body is ready! Now only a Bloodborne remake on PS5 pro and my gaming collection will be complete!
I would still love a way to play Bloodborne. Somewhere, somehow. I do think eventually it will be on PS5 as a remaster.

I had a really hard time getting into this game. It was extremely lacking in story. I struggle with the Chronicle games due to the battle system.

I WILL pick this up, for no other reason than to complete the xeno collection on switch. Hoping something will click this time around and I'll be able to finish it.
XCX can be brutally difficult. The thing is, there’s so much to do and it’s fun enough to just wander around for hours and hours and just see the vast alien world. Eventually it just clicks, at least for me. And my God, the music. GOAT-tier.

Nice, out of nowhere!.
With this I think the Zelda remasters are the last games still stuck on WiiU that I'd like to see ported over.

Have the Collector's Edition on Wii U unplayed. Only played the first game on Switch last year despite owning it on Wii and Wii U as well. So may as well wait for this one before playing.
Was thinking of starting this and playing it on cEmu but then saw it uses the Gamepad. Wonder if it'll be much trouble integrating the Gamepad functionality.
