After a wonderful self contained adventure in Xenoblade, I'm crushed to find that XCX leaves so much left on the table and ends on a sequelbait ending. Given all the interviews, and the lack of commitment to the WiiU from Nintendo, it feels unlikely that the following will get resolved:
We don't find out what Mira is, what its mystery space magics purpose is or anything to do with the race of robots and frigates that are left behind, or how the current races got there, we don't find out who or what consists of either side of the interplanetary forces, or where the forces attacking the White Whale went too, Elma is a total mystery now [what race she is, how she knew about the fight over Earth 30yrs before it happened], Cross is even more of a mystery than before [As far as we know, Cross is the only one without any memories and given that there isn't a database for the mims yet everyone knows who they are - that's even more perplexing.] Yelv's ending makes it look like he has copies in the mim lab and his personality is fake, making things even more confusing.
Its frustrating, because the team did a fantastic job of making NLA evolve as you explored an amazing world, but despite thousands of pages of dialogue, none of it went to explaining how or why anything outside of NLA exists. I've not seen any chatter about anything in the works and a sequel looks either 4 years off on another platform or never happening.
