Xenoblade Chronicles X - Review Thread

I recently finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3D a few days ago, really hated
Lorithia
, but I enjoyed the whole journey.

Can't wait for X! Pre-ordered and ready to go Friday!

If I am getting the physical disk, will putting the data packs on a usb negate whatever boosts they give? Will a regular external hard drive be better, or do they need to be on system memory?

Wait its a prepaid master? So you can use it on anything or is it strictly pizza?

Redemption site has "redeemable anywhere MasterCard is accepted." So it should be more than just pizza, if it was limited to pizza it should say so.

Same sort of thing happens with other prepaid card bonuses. Like "$10 back in gas" but you can use it for anything.

Me after reading the Jim Sterling, Gamespot and Gamexplain reviews...

I waited so much for this and it's finally here! Now let me start downloading all those Data Packs.
Nooo you should've used this gif

Might as well use it before it's overused lol

!!!

Actually, that was my reaction after the Gamexplain 3 hours showcase when the guy crossed a cave full of enemies using his skell and a combination of vehicle + jumps
just to be annihilated by a high level alien grunt

Oh man I actually avoided that video because of the length. But I kind of want to see that hilarity now.

Horizon pls, you're not helping D:
Soon! In the meantime hype!

You'll pay for your insolence.

Everyone hates that fight, AFAIK. I know I sure as hell did.

My roommate has a Wii U. I was thinking about getting the game and playing on his console.

Just looking for verification: if I were to play this, the disk is something I can carry to another wii u, but the save data is tied to his console unless I do a full transfer to another console, correct?

Unless the online elements locks the save files to the system, you should be able to save/back-up your file and transfer to another system. I know some games on the Wii wouldn't let you transfer save files if they had an online element (like The Last Story iirc). Dunno if same thing applies on the Wii U.
So is this incorrect? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=956182

Just a self-bump to see if I can get an answer.

It's one of the only fights in which you have to move around your party, really weird how they introduced stage hazards in one of the last fights in the game.
They kind of introduced them during the section near Colony 9 (Splintered Path and the bottomless pits) and Satorl Marsh (Poison Swamp filled with... well, poison)

Without having read any reviews yet or played any game in this series, is this similar to monster hunter? I wasn't a fan of those games and I'm interested in this, but not if it is like the monster hunter games.

Based Riki saved me on that battle. I controlled him during that fight and just spammed every single debuff I had on me. It was slow but pretty effective.

Not at all. This is more similar to something like Final Fantasy XII.

It's...nothing like Monster Hunter.

You're in a review thread. Why would you not read a review? Monster Hunter is an action game, this is an active-time RPG. Not even sure how they could be kind of confused.

Not really tbh, this game and his predecessor have more in common with Final Fantasy XII down to the MMO-ish combat and the emphasis on exploration.

Just got notified my CE guide will be arriving Friday! Now if only I could say the same for the game... I got a 40hrs work week next weekand free weekend now, I don't wanna be that late to Mira! D:

Well guys I did it, I just bought a Wii U for this game. I'm a sucker for giant robots and the game looks fun.

Thank god I'm not the only one lmao

I expect I won't play much else than Smash Bros and XBX on my WIi U. I've got a couple of other Mario games too, but I'm not that big a fan.

I have little free time, i am not done with fallout 4, I have not started the Bloodbourne dlc, but that Gamexplain review..

Damn you Gamexplain!!!

Nintendo doesn't recommend it but I'm moving all of the games I had downloaded in my Wii U (Super smash, MK8) into my USB flash drive. Then I free up the space in my Wii U. Now I can download the data packs into my Wii U and keep the USB stored elsewhere.

In the future when I want to play Super Smash and the other titles, which I barely do if at all, by that point I'll likely have finished playing this title to the point I care about so I can remove data packs and transfer these back into my Wii U.

Seriously Wii U, 32 GB save space? Get real. NX better get modern.

Anyone getting the guide?

The online browser version, yeah.

Hoping it'll help with finding items for the fetch quests and monsters for the kill quests. The fetch quests are boring enough on their own, don't want to start guessing where to get the stuff too.

Guys. Kinda a newbie on this metacrtic things but i wanted to ask here on why some reviews is not counted into metacritic while for other game, they are already counted?

Is there some sort of criteria to follow here?

Some will just get added over time. It's currently at 34 reviews and I expect it to have at least around 60. Otherwise some publications just don't meet whatever criteria MC has.

Currently salty that none of the 10s are on there, and the eurogamer review for that matter. They have the italian eurogamer.

Jesus christ nvm on the transferring to a USB flash drive. It was taking forever and the bar wasn't moving so hard to see progression. I just went ahead and deleted game content, kept save files. If I ever want to play those titles again I'll redownload them.

For now, downloading data packs.

You have to be metacritic affiliated or some crap like that for your score to appear on that site. Even then, the weight of the score varies depending of the publication.

Umm isnt that kinda bad? As it force some websites to affiliate with metacritic? And different weight score too? Does that mean like some big website like ign can get bigger score vs like jim sterling review?

Metacritic has like no standards. That's one of their fundamental flaws, but part of their entire platform. They offer unbiased aggregate reviews. I was pissed about the scores they had compiled for something and e-mailed them to point out the PC Version of a game was getting negatively dragged down by several sources that had actually reviewed the Xbox360 or PS3 versions of the game, and they said something along the lines of "that was the review they submitted to us, we can't screen them or else our integrity is compromised".

Jim Sterling is probably weighted about the same. It's so Game Bonanza Croatia or whatever third rate gaming site can't submit a bunch of bizarre reviews and throw off the entire system. For other forms of media they tend to have a wide variance of reviewers ranging from big newspapers to individual bloggers, and not all have the same recognition or prestige if you will. In the realm of gaming, someone from EuroGamer saying a game is 9/10 is probably more impactful than some random guy on YouTube.

Yeah. Everyone knows Metacritic is shit.

e: well, "everyone". A lot of people still take metascore as some sort of gospel for some reason.
