Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is releasing soon, who else is getting it?

That first post- GAH!

I'm not sure yet to be honest, I'm excited about it releasing on PC. But I don't really trust Hayashi with anything Ninja Gaiden related... I might get it for the DOA costumes :)

But probably not- where's that T-Rex gif? Found it.

Definitely, but I'll probably wait until April or May as I'll still likely be playing most of March's other releases by the time it arrives.

I stopped caring about the franchise after 2. This game just looks weird. Some random ninja fighting zombies? I'll pass.

I played the demo a few months ago and it was awesome, this coming from a die hard NG fan. It's way more polished than NG3 and RE combined. Really fun game. Will be getting it day 1.

The artstyle is pretty catchy. The tone of the game is really unfortunate, but perhaps it'll surprise me like DmC did.

Definitely not picking it up right on release though.

I'm interested, gonna keep a look out at more gameplay videos before I make a decision. I don't trust reviews anymore because they are all over the place.

Hope it turns out alright but given NG3 and the packed March I won't be trying it until a price drop or two on steam. Which if nothing else is great, more action games are needed on the PC!

I'll wait for the reviews/impressions. It could be a fun mindless hack and slash if you're not expecting Ninja Gaiden Black or 2.

Honestly, it's probably going to be decent. Graphics are very unique looking, and it seems like it's got a decent amount of comedy in it. And I'm actually kind of excited to see Ryu from a different perspective. This could be one of the only games I can think of where the main character never had a fucking chance to win, and will get destroyed in the ending, badly.

But to make me put down $60, I need a demo. The actual gameplay and combat are totally up in the air. And I don't know how long it is.

I'll definitely be getting this game at some point, but probably not for a few months. Just purchased like 4 games last month.

Is anyone able to confirm Keiji Inafune's actual role in the game's development? Wikipedia lists him as Producer and as Director, but I am unable to find any other source for his role in the game's development.

They're not even trying to make it like NG1 or NG2, so don't expect that. It's something else completely.

You have a chain weapon, and even shoot rockets sometimes.

From what I'm seeing it's more of a hack and slash combat, don't go in expecting NG1 or 2, but if you're looking for a colorful action game with Japanese wackiness and Grant Kirkhope music, you might like this game.

After the absolute clusterfuck that was NG3 and Razor's Edge, I'd rather eat glue.

Plus everything that I've seen about Yaiba leads me to believe the game is boring as all hell. Plus it looks bad.

Character Action games and 30 FPS go together like hot sauce and my balls.

It'd be 60 FPS on PC, and I suspect it miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight be like DmC 2013 where IIRC low end PCs and lappys can run it fine.
Step up you game, noob~

I played it at EGM Expo last year. I enjoyed it. Played well and responded nice and quick, didn't hear much sound because of the noise in the arena being deafening. Humour seemed like my kind too. Not sure if it will be a buy at launch, but I will be picking it up at some point in the future for sure.

Yeah, like I said, I think it's actually going to be a decent action game. Just the ending of the trailer alone seems pretty damn hilarious and awesome. I also like the look of the platforming. Probably fairly basic, but looks fun.

I'll be playing it, but probably not for a little while unless a demo or reviews sell me on it further.

More polished? I gotta see that. Is it even 60fps on consoles? Some of the gameplay I saw looked kind of janky to me. actually really liked NG3: RE and the game felt smooth and quite polished to me. I am considering getting it mostly because I love Ninja Gaiden as well as action games in general. I have a terrible feeling that this game will bomb like no other unfortunately.

It should be 60 FPS everywhere.

That's how I feel about 'next gen system' games, but let's not get into that.

Well as I posted, if you are interested in this game, or just want a wacky Japanese character action game, I've already given you an option: Get the PC version as it would be 60 FPS.
Controller? Get a PS3, PS4 or 360 controller and hook that sucker up.

Well over teh top crazy switch brain off hack and slash games are good fun too need a demo to decide :)

I'll wait for some opinions from Character Action GAF, and see how it goes in a Steam sale. I find the game really ugly-looking, and a 30FPS action game doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

The combat in this game already looks like it shits on LoS2's combat. I really need something to fill that void. This games combat style looks really awesome. The new combat trailer really helped seal the deal for me. I'll be picking this one up on the one platform that does framerate right. PC

The fact that they didn't prioritize frame rate for their CharAct game pretty much spells out "Hey, our gameplay is Busch League at best!". But even if the FPS was 60 everywhere I'd still have to deal with the Spark Unlimited design and the Tameem level writing. I do think I will pass on this.

If people want to grab it for a cheaper price, Amazon let's you trade $20 worth of video game stuff and gain an additional $10 (this also applies for these other games some people may be interested in.) I'm considering picking it up. I like dumb action games once in a while.

I'm going to buy it. Not at $60 but closer to $20-$30.

It's important that investments like this continue being made. If publishers aren't not willing to develop new IPs, then I certainly want them to expand IPs beyond what they've traditionally been in order to remain interesting and fresh. It's the same reason why despite being a disgustingly HUGE fan of Devil May Cry, I supported DmC's existence and my open mind was rewarded with a very fun game with a solid story attached to it. Not as technical as previous games in the series, mind you.

More importantly, however is that this game actually looks surprisingly good. Ninja Gaiden 3 is mega-trash, any version of it, and Spark Unlimited's only GOOD game is Lost Planet 3 which is a very standard third-person shooter largely saved only by the fact that the characters and voice acting are a notch above decent.

But this looks fun. It looks fun in the way Suda51 games always seem fun to me, but I never quite actually enjoy.

IF this game has better combat or even close to comparable combat than NG3: RE, that will definitely help out. Yeah, NG3: RE had it problems, but IMO the combat was still very good and this coming from someone who invested many, many hours in NG1, NG Sigma, NG2: Sigma, Ninja Gaiden: Black, NG2 and even NG3(lol). If the gameplay is good or even solid in Yaiba, that will go a long ways in my book, especially considering that games like this are becoming a rarity now for the obvious reasons.

Apparently Yaiba is voiced by Quinton Flynn, Raiden's voice actor, I just now find this out.
