The substories are great, but you need to pace yourself. I made a mistake of going "alright, i'm going to binge some substories", but it gets pretty tiring only doing those for a couple of hours or so. Finish a chapter or mission, play a couple side stories, then get back to the main objective.

At some point though I really did become just so invested in the main story that I stopped caring about the side stories because I had to see the main story unfold. I needed answers.

Kuze looks like he's about to sell a ruby plate at the pawn shop.

Where do i get bait and better fishing rods?
Bait is purchased from the local grocery store (marked brown-ish on the map) and I'm not entirely sure where you get fishing rods.

But the absolute best one is available from the pawn shop (marked as yellow on the map) though it's expensive if you're still early in the game. But it's shared so if you buy it with one character, both have access to it.

So you *have* to do all property business in your hideout? Kinda annoying.
Sadly, yes.

Is there a list of what actor each character is based off of? It's cool seeing them in real life.

Riki Takeuchi (Awano) and Hitoshi Ozawa (Kuze) have actually appeared in a few movies together like the Dead or Alive films by Takashi Miike and this film released in 2012:

Hideo Nakano (Shibusawa) is probably best known for being in the Outrage series by Takeshi Kitano (yakuza films):

arite, so, Majima having that convo with
Lee, Lee saying Majima does not strike him as a killer...

the thing is though, in that mission when you're escorting blind chick through the city, didn't he snap a Yakuza's neck? how would that have not fucking killed him?

also remote play died right in the middle of the convo I was having with
her about the watch. as I desperately tried to reconnect I saw that she took it off and...walked over to the wall?

I dunno I just ended the game there so I'll restart it when I get back home.

Riki Takeuchi is the B-movie KING in Japan. I implore everyone to check out the Dead or Alive trilogy of films by Takeshi Miike.

I love Miike's Dead or Alive. Seen it in a theater and the ending makes people go NUTS.

Especially into the fact that it's a fairly reserved, ugly depressing story about crime and family, bookended by two of the most outrageous sequences committed to film.

Sub-stories became hard to ignore once I unlocked Real Estate. Now I feel compelled to do them with the hope that I will get a new Advisor out of the deal.

Plus some of them give some cool and unique loot.

The ending is so unnecessarily crazy lol

I was wondering why Sagawa looked so familiar. Just saw him in Shin Godzilla!

Anyone else have Majima's cabaret club music in their head 24/7? "I want to be a girrrrrrrl"

I want the fever time tune as my ring tone.

I had to buy the pawn shop fishing rod twice. I could have sworn I checked on the opposite character. Wasn't an option so I figured you had to buy it twice if you wanted it on both characters. Not a big deal anyway. Real estate makes it seem like chump change.

I'm at the point where all my ability upgrades are at 30mil or more (15 for Majima) and I'm just starting chapter 5. I am guessing money will become easier to come by as time goes on and I shouldn't be concerned about grinding it out for now?

Real estate is a pretty good source of money but it takes some time to really pay off and Cabaret kinda sucks for money.

The best way to max the abilities is to farm Mr. Shakedown as Kiryu, but I didn't bother with that until I had finished the game.

damn, never saw any of these - are they recommended? plenty of room in the pile!

it's a great feeling, at least before you reach that point of the kamurocho cocaine 80s where anything less than a billy barely feels with your time, haha

Halfway down to taking down the Media King, and I reiterate that Real Estate is the worst part of this game.

Collect, wait.

Sometimes go beat up some guys.

Do a minigame.

Fight main guy.

Rinse, repeat, only wait longer and pay more for properties each time.

The storyline is alright, but almost everything about Majima's cabaret minigame is better. Which is saying something from someone who hates that aspect of Japanese culture.

I hope Kiryu's fourth style is worth it.

heh, I like the Real Estate. You don't really do much, you do a side mission, you return to your base to get a lot of money. Repeat. It just give more spacing between missions and I also like to just walk in the streets and look at the shops and approach to see if it's a location I can buy.

If there's any suggestion I'd make to new players, it would be to space it out over multiple chapters. I can see it being more enjoyable that way. I'm basically doing it all at once at the very end
chapter 15 I think?
(which put the story on a massive halt) and it's killing me.

Hmm I have been avoiding them up until now because I was assuming I needed more health and abilities, which are also behind money. Guess I could try spamming health items and see how it goes.

I would just rather avoid really stretching my legs too early (sidequests and such) if I could be doing the same and making more money in the process later.
