Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

So I just got this game and its my first in the series, loving it so far, reminds me of Shenmue so much.

Question, I keep hearing beeping when I walk around sometimes, and I have no idea what it signifies.

Also, what does it mean when you hear a sound and the minimap circle glows yellow for a second, or is that what you're talking about? I'm only in chapter 1.

How exactly do you go about unlocking the erotic videos? I'm asking for a friend! :p

I'm in chapter 2 and I've unlocked one video by happening upon a substory and completing it. It was the dominatrix one ... I walked by an S&M club kinda in the center of Kamurocho, just north of the Nakamichi Alley area. After finishing it, the game told me I unlocked a video for the girl who I helped during the substory. I haven't checked it out yet ... I have stuff to sell at the pawn shop!

Ah so I'll just stick to seeking out substories and hope I come across some. Thanks!

Do you mean the gravure model videos?
I think I unlocked some of those by finding cards on the floor, they are all scattered about the map in different locations. You pick up a card and then it unlocks the video in the erotic store.

I have picked up at least one card but I didn't know it was tied to the videos. I'll give that a try also.

I might be wrong, but I have unlocked about six videos so far and I've definitely not done side story quests to unlock them, so I kinda assumed that's what has happened (I recall finding quite a few cards)

i'm trying to figure out what exactly the slugger training does for majima-- it's unlocking abilities that are called "weapon training" for different weapon types, but i don't really understand what that means? does it mean i can just equip that weapon type under the equipment menu and i otherwise wouldn't be able to, or is it gonna make enemies start dropping these weapons so i can pick them up, or are there some secret slugger style moves i haven't found that are gonna have me busting out some nunchuks?

I think that means your objective is now on the mini map (the exact location not just the direction)
I just did the dominatrix mission in front of my wife I was cracking up the whole time her review after it ended: "one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen, 10 for effort though"

The scene with the massage therapist was great.
I'm still confused about who everyone is though.
Further confirming my theory that spoilers make Yakuza better.

Edit: wtf is happening I'm so confused

Ahhhh thanks!

On a side note, this game is REALLY good looking. I just stare in amazement around every corner.

As far as I remember, if you equip those weapons while in slugger they don't lose durability so easy, deal more damage and/or new heat actions.

I haven't fully explored that side of slugger yet.

Unlocked Super Hang-On and managed to get the highscore in my first try. I guess all those time playing Outrun finally paid-off, hahaha.
Made me chuckle that, was great :p Really makes me want to play Yakuza 1 again as well, roll on summertime for Kiwami!
Tell me about it.

That
escort
bit in Chapter 4 was not that good...

Story is great though!

Edit: I'm so glad they put in "Last time with Kiryu" bits before changing characters.

Does this game not install to the PS4? I inserted it and didn't notice the install start, just went straight to playing it. Am I missing something?

Yeah, just finished that bit myself since I just finished Chapter 4. It's the first moment I've felt where I have had something to gripe about in the game. Everything else I've loved. As long as their isn't another
escort section
like that one, I think the game will be one of my favorite games that I've played in a while.

That cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 4 though sucks since I want to play more, but it's late and I have school tomorrow. Sigh... At least it's the weekend after I get out of school!

First Yakuza game, so far so good, played the first chapter.
Only complaint is that Kiryu's voice actor is too old for young Kiryu.

I am seriously hooked on Space Harrier. Had a good run up to stage 7, 8.6 million points, #6 on the leaderboard for now...

I should probably finish chapter 1 next session tho.

YEAH FUCK YOU SHAKEDOWN!!!

Rush style seems to be the way to beat him.

Edit: Also he showed up when I had like 100k. He had 19m.

For everyone who is enjoying the arcade games, I encourage you to check out the SEGA 3D Classics Series for 3DS. The arcade games in Y0 are from the same company, M2, who does the large majority of SEGAs classic game porting work. Check out the blogs about the series. They are infinitely fascinating.

Of course, Space Harrier, Outrun, Super Hang on, and Fantasy Zone all have 3D versions. As do Streets of Rage I and II.

I'd only completed about 75% of the collectables/objectives etc when I stopped playing and I have no idea what you're talking about. hahaha

lol. you should play the other Yakuza games when you're done with this one =D

Nope, don't recall anything like that happening in 0. Then again, chases have thankfully been dropped after Ishin (which ironically did chases far better than the rest of the series up to this point). 6 has a couple of entertaining "chases" though not in the style of 3-5.

Well that sucks. I loved the chase scenes or the races. Especially when they had heat events integrated.

Yakuza 0 actually reminded me how much I wanted it, but then I remembered how awful the EU release of the game was.
