Yakuza 0 |OT| Yes, you can start with this one!

I swear I would buy a Majima hostess club game. This shit is addicting.

Yeah if they made it a mobile game I'd be hooked along with the real estate part of the game. I'd also buy the telephone club mini game haha.

Edit: throw the JCC mini game in there also. Honestly most mini games could be their own games.

The game actually had a companion Vita app in Japan that allowed you to fight in the arena for prize money, or play casino/arcade games. It allowed you to sync your data between the main game.

Same. I've been in chapter 7 for like a dozen hours just doing this shit, it's great.

Gotta say the dancing minigame sucks ass tho. Karaoke too but less so. Whoever made those probably isn't musically gifted. Scroll speed changing on every line of the karaoke songs drives me nuts.

some general tips
- if you wait too long to shift from LOW -> HIGH you'll spin your tires a bit, losing acceleration for a moment. try to shift right when the 3rd green bar is full.
- you don't need to use your break or to stop accelerating at all during the first stage. You can drift through every turn. My time for the first stage is usually 58' or 59'.
- ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS be patient when dealing with traffic. if you have to slow down for a second or two before you can find an opening, that is LEAGUES better than getting into an unnecessary car wreck.
- if you're in a turn and you see another turn sign, you're probably going to need to slow down.

It is possible to complete OutRun even if you get into a wreck. try to not get frustrated and play very attentively.

Hm, well thanks, I'll try those tips. It just feels like there's a very low tolerance for error.

Why would you need to fight during the escort mission. You can sneak and only have to fight at the end.

Well sorry, not everyone has your flawless sneaking skills. :p It was hard for me to judge when I was spotted or not. There's also a bug with the mission in that yakuza would materialize next to me right after beating another group. Not a fun mission.

Is anyone able to play Texas Hold Em as Majima without the game crashing after five minutes? Seems to crash for me everytime I start to win.

Wonderful game otherwise.

Does the game eventually point to you in the map which stores you can buy for real estate? Running around store to store after unlocking this is getting annoying and I hope theres an actual map showing what you can buy

Gotta disagree there. I found myself liking both. As someone who sucks at rhythm games, I'm glad that a "Super!" ranking is a rather low skill ceiling (as you said though, timing can get erratic during karaoke). They could have made either so much harder if they wanted.

Except some of the disco challenges. The latter ones can get dicey real quick.

The game gives you the names of the places but it turns into a case of trial and error since we can't read the Japanese signs.

Use this guide, which has a map: http://www.khhsubs.com/rggzero/moneyisland.html

Where can I buy a fishing rod for Kiryu?

pawn shop has a super expensive one. I was rich by the time I needed one so I just got that.

I got one for free when I went to fish at the pier, and I think another from doing the sushi gin sidequest.

funny thing is going into a cutscene where Kiryu acts broke right after dropping 30 million on a fishing rod.

Yeah, the rhythm games in Yakuza are lame. Sega should have the Project Diva people handle those so we can get something decent. The disco minigame is at least unusual, though not at all intuitive.

The UI could be better, I agree. But I'm laughing so much every time I play Rouge of Love and hear Kiryu/Majima's singing that I can barely play anyway.

Both the real estate and hostess club activities would benefit a lot from a phone app to manage everything, it'd be the perfect complement

I was actually thinking about remote playing from my phone to make some money while I'm away. Shit is addicting. I need all the abilities unlocked! I stopped playing the main story just to focus on taking down the real estate kings.

Sooo I just now beat Leisure King and so Pink Street & two of the others opened up. I started investing and collecting and now Pink Street, the first building you have, is in trouble. Yet on the map I don't see any red or anything for me to fix the problem. Do I have to do some side stuff some more before attempting to fix it or am I forgetting to do something before I can fix it?

Go to the general vicinity of the area (it's highlighted in the business section in the options menu) then open the map. There should be a small red circle somewhere in the area, that's where the trouble is.

Its most likely hidden behind a Taxi or Save symbol, It should be on the edge of the map. Zoom in a bit and you should find it.

Man, Nightlife Island is much better than the passive nature of the Money Island. The Special Trainings and Club Openings really break up the monotony so frequented in waiting for cash/upgrades on Kiryu's side (especially if you went for all S Ranks like I did).

Random things I like/dislike

Like: Hostess management is addictive as f*ck
Dislike: Focusing on new districts puts the brakes on the difficulty curve and money flow

Like: Substories are generally original, funny and well-written
Dislike: I wish they had tiers so the less impactful, more filler-y ones wouldn't be lumped in with the great ones

Like: Switching between protagonists is a nice twist and keeps it fresh
Dislike: It really messes up the pacing and story build-up sometimes. I'm at chapter 7 now and I wish they would've just told one story all the way through first, Resi 2 style. I'm sure that has plot reasons though.

Yeah, the Real Estate stuff is pretty much fire and forget. Then come back in a few minutes. As I said, and others agreed, the Hostess stuff is a ton of fun.

Also, I love that a purple haired old lady was my Night's highest earner.

This game, people. This game.

I don't know if you are far enough in the game. But I like jumping back and forth. There are a couple cool reveals that end up connecting them. I don't think things like that would be as impactful if each story was played all the way through at a time.

Yeah, I made sure to grab all the CP business upgrades to make payout turnaround pretty quick. But yeah, Nightlife Island is definitely better.

Leisure King is down, I feel so fucking powerful now I own the whole district, this thing is addictive as fuck.

Which one should I focus on next? Electronics King district?

Thanks! Got for free the easy starter in the pier and managed to catch a few squids to befriend the Sushi Gin guy

Yeah, it has me completely hooked, I was planning about rushing the story before Nioh hits next week but fuck it, I feel the urge to unlock everything in this game

Yakuza 0 has now become my favorite game of the series

the story is really well done, even though the gameplay hasn't changed or evolved from the previous games, but there is so much things to do in the game

some of the substories are really boring, i just want to know if it's better to just skip them and play the main story or should i play both ??

Thanks, I'll do a double over with zooming in next time I play.

Up to you. Some aren't great, while some are brilliant. If your not really feeling them at the moment you could leave them until later? They never disappear so you can always go back to them. Just keep in mind that you need to complete certain side stories in order to recruit people for Kiryu's real estate mini game, and Majima's hostess club management.

I thought she was a lot harder than Ogita myself. WIth him, I think I was overthinking it and going for too many steps, with her, I HAD to. If I wasn't pulling off at least 8 steps I was toast. And that was on easy.

Anyhow just beat Club Venus.
Poor Yuki really is the Meg of the Cabaret Club storyline.

Shit gets real in Chapter 13. There's a nice little throwback in there as well.

Also, I've always felt that Super Hang-On was slightly harder than OutRun
