Yakuza 4 |OT| Welcome back, hostess bars & proper boxart!

bender

What time is it?
12 strikes in a row. I usually set the starting point one dot to the right of center. That way there are two angles that will get a strike every time (just left of center throw and one more left beyond that). If you throw straight or two far left, you can always compensate with spin.

ok, so i know "fashionista" is the only missable trophy, but...this guide says at some point i gotta clear out my save from substory missions - should i be tying them up as i go in my first playthrough to make my life easier, or wha? still trying to finish off Akiyama's, but i really should advance the plot at some point.

Saejima is really annoying to fight as. Too slow and hard to build Heat with him early on, I can machine gun kick my way to meter like with Akiyama. And the way he swings a sword is complete crap, nigh useless with how he swings it so slow and widely.

Saejima can do good damage and build meter quick, but I seriously have no idea how to do his Heat Moves.

it says to bounce off the wall or bounce off the ground prior to performing the Heat, yet I can never seem to pull it off...

I was able to do the ground bounce move once, I think of square -> hold triangle combo, but every other time I attempt to do the move I can never pull it off

For the face wall smash

Grab the opponent with the opponent's back facing the wall. Then hold triangle for the knee bash. He'll bounce off the wall and you should be able to do the heat move.

For the Lariat, you just have to time the Square -> charge Triangle combo. It practically works every time for me.

Just play until you get to Part 5, then you can switch between characters and do all missing sidequests leisurely. This way you can enjoy the plot at full steam and only do the sidequests you come across naturally.

You can easily adapt to his style, just input earlier. Build space with grabs/throws. There's also a combo speed upgrade available.

amazing game. Near the end now and just mopping up Kiryu's sidestories and the gang encounters. About 33 hours played. Glad i traded Krapzone 3 in for this, having so much more fun.

So I thought the random encounters and all but a few sidequests were basically completely worthless in their difficulty. Everything seemed like filler designed for level 1-5 characters. Nothing in this game seemed to scale. This is most noticeable in part four. I was wondering if anyone disagrees with this assessment.

All will be forgiven once you take control of Tanimura. Dude is the most exemplary fighter in the game.

Until you take him into the IF7R machine and can't use any of his Heat moves. Rips out 80% of his ability to inflict damage.

Exemplary? His combos are ridiculously slow.

I never found him slow. He's got that parry move that's piss easy to pull off, and automatically pulls off Heat moves after a combo that reduces an enemies health bar to zero in one full swing. When I started as Kazuma I was like "Noooooooooo, FML."

Go all the way to the left, quickly hit X twice and power to around 95%. Gets me a strike every time.

dammit! 1 more substory with Akiyama to go, then i'm ready to move on...but i cant find it! according to this, it's:

[ ] 15. Beware of Imposters
Time: Any
Pre-requisites: Counterfeit Bills
Opens up: N/A
Reward: Super High-Voltage Battery, 5,000 XP

1. Talk to the man at the south end of Theater Ave.
2. Talk to a lady at north end of Theater Ave.
3. Go to Park Alley near West Park.
4. Enter impostor’s office opposite Kamiyama’s Works, beat up Masked Men (and have a good laugh afterwards).

i've completed Counterfeit bills, and am looking on Theater Ave, no one's about. any ideas?

There's a guy with a green arrow standing on the corner of Tahei and Theater. Just go left from the Tahei lockers. After talking to him, go north past Theater Square and talk to a woman standing there.

guide said i could go back to the office and "reminisce" from aki's chair if i passed something, but i dont see that as an option either.

Yeah, that mission requires Hana. Once she quits on you, you have to reminisce at your Sky Finance desk. I did it during the final part of the game, where you can choose between the 4 protaginists.

hey, you were supposed to keep playing the main story now ;D you can finish this last quest too during Part 5! :D

Doing missing sidequests then is even handier because you can switch between day and night too!

Saejima's helicopter move is amazing in IF7. Cleared all the 5 available ones early on with just that.

Does anyone know which locker key and location gives the item that allows for the roulette to hit 0 or 00 when used? I stopped picking them up with Saejima cause I want Tanimura to pick it up and use it to get the 10 mil trophy ASAP.

Just reached the final part with 28 hours played. Cant wait to complete it and clear up as much side content as I can over the next few days.

This game has been amazing, as it stands its my favorite so far in 2011.

Yakuza 4 is Amazon's video game deal of the day today @ $40.00. If you missed out on Best Buy's $40 offer (or if they still haven't shipped it, as was the case for me), you might want to take advantage of this.

EDIT: whoops, beaten by a mile. Sorry about that.

So how do you actually "unlock" other hostesses. I'm trying to get Rio with Tanimura but got sidetracked on Himeka, and now she's the only one I can specifically request. Do you have to work your way up to her?

Probably won't do all of them since I didn't realize you have to get TWENTY hearts and not ten.

Completed it today. Absolutely loved it!

Ending Spoilers:

I was thinking the ending was pretty disappointing but then thankfully the cutscene after the credits kicked in. It confirms Yakuza 5 and I can only hope we get it this gen and we don't have to wait over a year for localization.

It sucks Yasuko had to die. It would have been nice if she and Taiga kinda finished happily ever after.

Is it still worth playing Yakuza's 1 and 2 after playing 3 and 4?

I've already watched the reminisces.

^Definitely. Both games are very fun. I'd play through 1 again just to hear the english voice-overs, hehe.

I just beat this as well. Those 67 hours fucking flew by. GOTY so far.

Plot question...

We all know that Majima was held captive while Saejima did the hit, however both he and the guy who imprisoned him (forgot his name) both served the Tojo clan together. How does that work?

I don't remember then explaining how things didn't get messy.

aw man, i failed the tutorial on this and still cant pull it off. is there a trick to the timing here? it says hold triangle when you hit square, but that just does a regular hit for me.

just started saejima...
that flashback where majima didnt show and he bumrushed ueno's lunch was some godfather shit.
fucking GOTY right here.

Um, business card hunter won't unlock.

Did all the VS. hostess sub-stories and Akiyama's hostess training, checked and doubled checked the cards now that I'm in the end game and I have every card I supposedly need (their initial generic card, not the special edition that requires to max out all hearts which apparently isn'tnecessary to the trophy)

idungetit!?

EDIT: Bleh! Had a feeling it would delay trigger if I went to all the clubs and had a sit down. How annoying.

Date's side story made me shed man/dad tears.
Yeah, that one was really touching.

The one that got me was
when all 4 guys help Kage The Florist's son seek out his father. At the end when The Florist gives Kiryu the flowers to deliver to his son. He recognizes that they're the same ones that are sent to his mother's grave every year. Pretty heavy shit.
