You're insane and believe you're "The Emperor of Videogames". What's your 1st decree?

Parity will be banished. Survival of the fittest only. When you play the game of development, you either win or you die.

This here is my first decree of many. Long live Damageinc.

Next random whipping of peasants.

Universal gaming format for consoles, all games works in all consoles regarding of brand, in all regions. Companies may continue to make branded hardware under the specially defined specifications with their own flavor of UI/OS, but they must all run any game by any company designed for the unified console. Since region lock is banned all games are required to have options for at least all the languages of the European union in addition to the language of the country of origin of the game, voice is optional.

Why can't the thought experiment just be "You are now the Emperor of Videogames"? Why do I also have to be a delusional crazy person!?

I'd probably decree that 60fps be the norm going forward.

Ban (kill) console gaming, everyone must have the same specs on their PC and Mobile gaming must be everyone's primary gaming device.

Pretty delusional, huh?

Edit- and the cherry on top: all games must F2P pay to win Freemium money sink.

Videogames are now illegal to play on conventional 2-dimensional screens. Cause fuck letting us evolve naturally, to many grandfathers afraid of change are in the way.

Every game gets a grand total of 2 minutes worth of cutscenes and/or times when control is taken away from the player and not a second more. This is my decree. Better use those minutes wisely mua-ha-ha-ha.

First decree: Games will sell according to my personal opinion on their quality and scaling to their budget.

Second decree: No annual franchises unless it's a sufficiently different game each year (examples: 3D/2D Mario or Forza Motorsport/Horizon).

Third decree: Only remasters of 10-year or older titles are allowed.

Fourth decree: No microtransactions allowed in any game.

Fifth decree: No more DLC unless it's free.

Another one:

Paid DLC is outlawed, unless its in the form of an expansion pack, and to be granted the status of Expansion pack it has to pass a rigorous standard in quality and amount of content. Expansion packs cannot be priced higher than half the cost of the original game.

If a publisher or developer is no longer actively producing their product for purchase, they must comply with an independent print-on-demand game manufacturer so that everyone can always find a new copy, direct from the publisher/developer of even the oldest of games.

Just as many book publishers now do.

It would be a win-win. Consumers don't have to go to second-hand markets, over-priced collectors, ebayers or scalpers, and always have access to full catalog of games. Publishers continue generating some revenue from defunct properties while offsetting the cost of manufacture and stock to the consumer.

Do it. DO IT.

Reinstate the Nintendo Seal of Quality.

I'm unsure if this is what you're referring to, but all the NSoQ means is that the publisher was legally allowed to put the game on a Nintendo console, that someone hadn't made a game and put it on unlicensed carts. Sadly, it doesn't have anything to do with the entertainment value of the product.

All consoles to be region free. If it's still supported a patch has to be released.

Nintendo World Stores are expanded with new stores added in most states.

ban "____ was a mistake, it's nothing but trash" posts on gaming forums

on a serious note though:

- outlaw paid dlc
- no microtransactions
- abolish always online
- gamestop is forced to get my personal approval for their used game prices

I want the Seal to carry its old meaning like during the SNES and NES games not the new age meaning. I also want all games publishers to be a little less lax with the games they let on their system. Nintendo's quality control with the e-shop has been abysmal.

1. All games running on any platform must support (lag-free) output to an external display (TV or monitor).

2. All games must be able to be purchased in full. Free-to-play games may exist, but upon any user reaching $50 in payments, the game becomes purchased and all transactions from that point are free.

3. No game may be online-only. Online games must have tools for local servers to be created.

4. All games that support online play must support offline LAN play.

Swery, Platinum, Mikami, Kojima, Igarashi, and every other lovable japanese developer I can't think of now has infinite money to make anything they want. They also don't have to deal with any kind of copyright laws so Iga can do more Castlevania if he so chose to.

I mostly just want Swery to make more D4, DP2, and his masturbating girl detective game.

I like you. I hereby declare you the new Emperor of Video Games, and abdicate my position.

Everyone's buying a Wii U, so that Iwata can stop crying himself to sleep and being called "not a real man" by his wife and children.

-No more mobile games.
-No releasing games that do not run at at least 30FPS 99% of the time.
-Trailers must state whether it is in-game or not, and what platform it is running on.
-If a game has been downgraded before launch, you must a) Remove trailers and screenshots that show the game pre-downgrade and b) As soon as the decision to downgrade the game has been made, that information must be conveyed to the public.
-Localised versions of games will not be censored or have content cut from the original version.
-Digital games must be priced at least 10% lower than the MSRP of the physical version when applicable.
-All systems must be region locked.

Shit FPS & crashing wasn't shown in the reveal.

so they would be flogged.

For all you know, those things were right around the corner in the current build that they showed. There are only two surefire ways to prevent downgrades: show off the worst parts of the game, or don't show off anything until it's 100% finished.

Every console game is an exclusive and the only games that go multiplatform are legacy games, remade - not remastered - to modern standards, and they have to be from at least two generations ago, and they're all affordable in poorer countries. Every game and system's OS is developed with interface accessibility for the disabled. Furthermore, COD multiplayer being good again would be a karmic tipping point that would ripple across the overall disdain throughout the whole industry and Silent Hills is alive and well, not only with Del Toro and Reedus, but with Kojima heading Team Silent.

First decree "Thou shalt shut the fuck up and play the fucking game"

Second decree "If you didn't beat the game, shut the fuck up and beat the game before talking trash to others"

Third decree "Any spoilers will be met with swift Justice, and by Justice I mean a guy I'm going to hire to break your fucking legs named Justice."

What did you mean "insane"?

I don't understand why they would risk being flogged.

all they have to do is make it playable by PC gamers at least, the consolers can eat cake.

Second decree "If you didn't beat the game, shut the fuck up and beat the game before talking trash to others"

Awful decree. If I start playing a game and it's shit... I'm sure as hell not going to force myself to finish it before my opinion of "it's shit" becomes valid.

Very true. There was some real bullshit released with the seal of quality stamped on it.

Where do you draw the line on that? What if it takes two Titans to get the game to even run at 30 fps in its most intense sequence? Is that performance truly preferable to downgrading the game? Or do you not want developers to ever shoot for the moon?

And what about downgrades that are performance irrespective? Consider a game that has unfinished textures in 50% of the game, and in which the trailer only showed parts of the finished segment (hint: this is every unfinished game with a trailer ever). Is it a downgrade if the game releases before the devs have time to bring 100% of the content up to the standard shown in trailers?

I understand why downgrades are disappointing, but they're deviously hard to avoid with games as large as most AAA titles are.

No more annualized franchises except for sports games. If you want to make another iteration, then you have to spend more than 1 year making it.

Force square to remake FFVII so people shut up about it. And everyone realizes that my opinion on it, aka it ain't all that, is true.

Then they remake 6/3 and everyone heralds me as Galactus.

To make every gamer a squid now and a kid now.

I also want the Konami executives fired and replaced with Hideo Kojima. Konami shall now be known as, "Outer Heaven".

F2P games MUST have a premium option, also games that show off a trailer must be released within 5 years of said trailer or it'll permanently be dead
