Another victory for Snowflake society.

Well done for participating, everyone's a winner. No tears, only dreams.

Not sure how and when this all ends but it's going to be interesting to witness. Probably going to get a lot worse before it gets better though.

What happened?! Too much complains from frail snowflakes youtubers?!

Youtube completely turned into shit lately.

If you're not showing numbers for thumbs down I don't really understand why you'd show it for thumbs up.

Just remove the numbers for both or keep them for both.

Don't understand this move. It's probably nothing in gaming but how is this a good thing to do when so many people present their made up beliefs and anecdotes as facts to drive their crazy agendas, be it religious or ideological? Shouldn't it be possible to dislike something that is plain wrong?

Everytime I think about dislike buttons and wether they should exist I think about ReviewtechUSA and then apply that to Science, Economy and Politics and realize we need a dislike button for people that regularly upload innaccuracies for millions of viewers presenting it as facts.

Sounds like a good idea, allows people that are not mentally deficient to advance in life and leave complaining on social media to all the losers.

Disliking something can cause a psychological harm to content creator, this they should be protected. Snowflake society.

Exactly what happens when someone like TheQuartering/Soph Narwitz puts a video up and gets a huge amount of likes for pushback against SJW etc.

You guys know that the content creator still sees the dislikes?? Why do you care if its liked or disliked... the dislikes will still effect the algorithm

This is pure trash, for a topic that I'm mildly interested in and I'm not sure what's correct, I check the like dislike ratio, if it's looking bad I'll look in the comments to see what the issue is. Without that guide aspect YouTube losses some of its value.

If someone is getting more dislikes than likes on Astrophysics the chances are they're wrong rather than offending snowflakes.

Jesus....if you produce shitty content just deal with the like/dislike ratio. There's already the function to disable ratings altogether so what purpose does this now serve

"In response to creator feedback around well-being..."
"Creators, you'll still be able to see the exact number of likes and dislikes in YouTube Studio..."
My bullshit-sense is tingling - it's obviously not for the Creators benefit.

I'm guessing they're trying to see if visible dislike ratios impacts engagement - does it actually matter, or is it just internet-warriors making a fuss. Unfortunately, this leaves like-to-view ratio as the only publicly visible metric YouTube offers with which to gauge general response to the video. And once that becomes the defacto method for determining public opinion - which will be less accurate than the like/dislike ratio - I'm betting YouTube will simply bin the publicly visible like/dislike feature altogether.

Nothing says "social media" like turning your users into voiceless cattle whose express purpose is to be fed whatever you decide is good for them.

That's terrible. There is already an option to disable likes/dislikes. Giving the timing, this is probably due to LGBT videos getting a lot of dislikes.
So it is bigots that ruined it, not snowflakes. Why can't people just keep their ignorant hate to themselves instead of ruining shit for the rest of us?

Not that I have ever used dislike, but I find it amusing that some people dislike popular songs.

Disabling dislikes only tells me the video is so bad that the creator had to disable it.

I will by default hit the dislike button any videos that had it disabled.

Well, of course.

How on earth are major corporations going to be able to sell you their gormless shit, if you have a chance to show them and others that you disapprove of it? Think of all that marketing money down thr drain if people are allowed to be critical openly!

...oh no... sorry... wait... this was done 'for the creators' wasn't it?

Yes, yes. That's right.

I guess that continuous 3/1 ratio on fake news finally was the last straw. I mean hell, you cant even comment anymore.

The press is our chief ideological weapon- NK

I'm sure this has nothing to do with no one trusting mainstream media and the establishment anymore and the likes and dislikes often reflecting that. So desperate to control the narrative.

And there is no campaign to give likes to these people? Many youtubers literally spend half of the video asking people to press the like button. This is just the Youtube establishment trying to protect their market share from emerging/independent content creators.

I don't see what benefit this brings to ANYONE. Given the statistics are still visible to content creators it's not exactly wrapping people in wool as much as it is just obfuscating data points.

Strange, on my end i still have both visible. Did they change their mind?

So what is the truth about sumo wrestling? I kinda want to know now, but without investing 15 minutes of my time, title sounds like clickbait too :p
Haven't watched it yet.
My guess: "Yakuza behind the sport, rigging the results"

Nothing about Yakuza. Definitely worth a watch.

I think you're wrong here, because youtubers can still see and be sad about their dislike ratio.

I think this could be more for big brands/products/trailers etc.

Not fully rolled out yet;

If you're part of this small experiment, you might spot one of these designs in the coming weeks (example below!).

YouTube died as soon as they sold out to advertisers. Arseholes.
