to Tom,

what do you guys at xseed think of the fan translation of Ys 5 ? I've heard that ATLUS or one of the JRPG companies buys a fan's translation and then edits it.

and thank you for your very fast responses; these sorts of interactions with us core gamers are what we need; you have my continued support xseed.

I'm about to go pick up my LE!

So I'm not the only one who loves the smell of freshly printed game manual/art book? Nice!

I always get weird looks from my boyfriend and parents every time I do this, but I don't care! Been doing that since I was a child.

Er, no, that's not Atlus, that's us. ;) Our releases of Ys I & II Chronicles, Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin were all edited from the original fan-translation scripts, with the help of the original fan-translator.

Ys V is a bit of a tricky one, though, as the only versions of it that exist are the original Super Famicom game and a PS2 remake that nobody really likes. And even the Super Famicom game isn't exactly the most popular Ys title out there (it's kind of the real black sheep of the series). So it's unlikely Ys V will be getting the same treatment from us.

I do recommend checking it out, though, if you're able. Unlike most Ys titles, the gameplay isn't very good, but the story and setting are excellent. Ys V is definitely a title better played for its atmosphere and narrative than anything else.

This game is out today and there's not a single review?! What's that about.

Ys game reviews are never a priority on major sites. It probably doesn't help that it's A) A Vita game, B) Launching during the Next-Gen Hype and C) Coming out within days of Zelda. To be fair, JRPGs not by Square are rarely the most talked about games in the media anyway.

It doesn't bother me much, Ys games are instant purchases for me. Falcom is just THAT good.

'Fraid not. Physical manuals are discouraged for North American Vita releases, and we're not about to ruffle any feathers by being "that guy." ;)

Fortunately, the LE comes with a 130-page book, and the book smells better than any manual ever could (not to mention being more awesome in general!), so I don't think you guys will be disappointed

-Tom

Oh that's too bad :(
But no big deal, at least I will have that good smelling collector book :)

Can't wait for tomorrow !

Still amazed the Fan translation on that one is stuck in limbo, the script was done like over half a decade ago.

Since we can't get Ys V, any chances of the PC version of Gurumin? That game is too adorable to be stuck on PSP.

Well, I certainly learned something today haha.

So, Tom, since we've got you here: do you guys foresee there being enough of a market for you to consider releasing Trails in the Flash?

I know this is me trivializing it, but if someone were to tell me to just buy all your games day one and you'll keep localizing, I wouldn't have to be told twice.

Well... add me on the train. Just ordered the silver anniversary edition instead of standard. 3 CD music collection (19, 26, 19 songs) of the franchise was just too tempting for me to not cough off an extra $20. Last Ys game I played was origins, which I loved.

Curious what is the install size? Hoping I have enough room on my vita.

Just read the OP FAQ, was surprised to learn that the game voices are dubbed? I was under the impression that XSEED never dubbed their games. I'm not complaining or anything, just curious.

Discussed earlier, I think you should have around 1GB or so of free space. Size will be confirmed after the store updates.

EDIT: Doh, ignore this, thought you were talking PSN version.

want this, but realistically wouldn't play it for a long time. still have to finish P4G and ALBW..... and start SMT4. might buy it anyway just to support XSEED and vita.

Looks great.

Will add it to my Vita collection along with The Oath in the Felghana and Seven!

All bought, full sale in effect as well live on US PSN.

Looks like the game is sub native which sucks, but is the UI native like Persona? I really hate sub res menus since its like vaseline is smeared on the screen.

Judging from user-taken images, I'd say that its safe to assume that the UI is native res.

Just got back from Gamestop with my regular copy. They had extra LEs that I could have upgraded to, but I needed the extra money so I can pick up TiTS when that releases on Steam soon. More money for XSEED!

As much as i love Ys games, i can't decide if this and Persona 4 Golden make a Vita worth buying. If i see a Vita for $150 on Black Friday i might finally cave.

Quick question: do the other PSN Ys game play on Vita? I remember Sony delaying PS1 classic compatibility at launch and haven't heard anything since.

Why you gotta make me sad Sony? Not used to this staggered store/sales for different regions malarkey. I come from a Steam background, so a sale is a sale....

Anyway anyone know where I can import Ys to the Uk? Playasia don't ship to Uk I believe?

Speaking of Ys V, looking forward to hearing some of the music from it. I have listened to some of Ys: Memories of Celceta's soundtrack and I like what I hear so far, but Ys V I have not heard anything from so the Silver edition soundtrack is welcome.

Oh, and this track "Release of the Far West Ocean -I'm Here For You" a VOCAL version?!? sounds like awesome!. actually all of the tracks from Ys 6 are favorites of mine Especially Ernst and the Depth Napishtim.

Would Ys 6 PC be possible? I know XSEED would probably have to license the existing translation or do a new translation but has there been any talk about that one?

Deuce has offered up his Ys VI translation to XSEED if they do pursue it at least. There exists a PC version of VI but I think Konami has a hold on it currently. Hopefully in the future it happens.

If you mean this Vita game. Playasia do ship to the UK. That said I ordered from videogamesplus.ca and have done so in the past to import items.
