Want this, but spent too much and backlog is high. Sigh, hope the Silver Anniversary edition stays in stock until my funds recharge. :p

well I seem to be stuck about 22% of forest and everywhere I go is a dead end or something blocking it. Found 2 caves that I keep goin in circles in and nowhere else to go.

It... really shouldn't be this easy for people to get stuck!

Where are you at in the story? If you're still at the point where Duren suggested either visiting the giant tree or heading to the river, then you should see marks on your map for both of these. Head toward the marks and you'll eventually come either to a forest where every screen looks the same, or a mountain where every screen looks the same. There's a trick to breaking out of these looping screens, though, which is hinted at in the dialogue. Make sure you carefully read everything everyone says, NPC or otherwise, and it shouldn't take you long to figure out the solution.

Once past either the forest or mountain, you'll find yourself at Comodo Village or Selray Village, and the story will pick up from there.

Thanksgiving why you gotta be tomorrow. Game will be at the post office today probably. Just won't be delivered until Friday because of the holiday.

Oh well, it's not like I'd be able to jump in right away anyway. Need to finish Mario. Also hoping TN-V4 is out before I update.

Not sure, lot of people saying it's sold out locally. Wonder how many of them XSEED had made, maybe all of them haven't been shipped out yet.

Only Ys LE that was "common" was the Oath in Felghana one though, Seven and Chronicles both disappeared relatively fast I think.

There are a number that got delayed in shipping from the manufacturer due to unforeseen difficulties, so more might start to show up on shelves in late December. Until then, this is truly a limited edition, so be sure to nab yours while you still can! ;)

Thanks for this. I was stuck around the same part too.

Hmm! The graphics aren't amazing, but I don't think they are bad or PSP quality by any means. I've spent enough time with Ys Seven and this game looks beautiful in comparison in both geometry / design and color. The sub native resolution didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I think this hurt Gravity Rush a lot more due to that game's color palette.

I did notice that the equip screen has the character models in native res so I took a screenshot.

Here's another random screen showing the sub native resolution

I also quite like the slight use of bloom lighting and the soft effect that they use in the game which reminds me of Animal Crossing. I hope this isn't what people are calling the vaseline filter...

Hey would someone help me out? In the beginning of the game right before you go into the mine for the first time is the game supposed to get all fuzzy and have broken lines
before you collect the first of Adols memories
? I just want to make sure I don't have a broken copy of the game lol

Got mine, also some help with the above if I could trouble you

Yes, it is. That effect is used throughout the game whenever there's a memory nearby -- it's kind of like Adol's "spidey sense." ;)

Awesome, thanks! Really amazed with the Limited Edition I was not expecting such premium packaging, especially for the 3 disc OST, my hats off to you!

Just got mine and it's a great collection - though I haven't even played the game yet, haha.

Only problem I have is that I WANT to read the book, but unfortunately I really don't want to bend the spine and risk pages falling out (I have horrible luck with the kind of binding used for this thing). Sort of wish they'd sprung for a hardcover binding like in the books that came with the Silver Star Complete collections way back when (still have mine!!)

Also, is there a high resolution version of the CD cover art somewhere? Google isn't helping, and I'd like to embed it in my ripped files.

lol same, surely we don't go to the same GS, or that there is just a handful of store layouts lol.

took me 4 mins to find this section ;_;

looks like a used game section from a glance... but it does have all the latest vita games like tearaway ys and amazing spiderman (lol).

Alabama per chance?

Thanks Tom for the help.

Was able to buy one Silver Edition off my local Gamestop without Pre-odering. Great packaging. Will play this after I finish Oath in Felghalla which I recently bought off PSN

Just got mine a few minutes ago from the mail. The journal is awesome. It being "written by Adol" is a really nice touch. The final section is pretty funny when he says the photo collection of females keeps him warm on cold, lonely nights. Ha, anyway looking forward to playing it, congrats to Xseed for shipping it and including wonderful extras.

Picking mine up tomorrow. Between this, Zelda, and Tearaway I'm going to be busy.

Also, how the hell do you pronounce "Ys" and "Celceta"?

Things are going much more swimmingly now that I've got a full party. Karna's great at smacking enemies and keeping them on lockdown before I can reach 'em with Adol or Duren, so it's less chances of me getting hit (and losing half my life on one hit). I should really play as Duren more often though, poor guy only has two Skills to Adol's four right now.

I'm still playing through Ys Seven, but I booted this one up just to see what it was like, and I actually think it looks much better on the actual system than the screens display (as par for the course with Vita games not named Tearaway). Even so, the native res in the equip screen is impressive. Character models look nice.

So far, the game seems cool, but I'm going to put it on the backburner until I beat Seven, and Tearaway, but it's hard! I wasn't expecting Ys until December, so it was a surprise to get it yesterday!

Until December 10th -- two weeks from yesterday.
Perfect! I should be able to take up on that Ys Seven sale then!

Just finished the Burrows and
Bami
has now been introduced. Things are getting interesting, but now I can finally return to town and get my first paycheck from exploring the forest after so long. lol

First boss on nightmare was a pain in the ass. I had to grind to level 4 to make sure I could actually do damage and withstand a couple of hits. Felt satisfying once I beat him though.

Hey, that's not the first thing you see!

...The first thing you see is a random cat, for some inexplicable reason. ;)

-Tom

yep, 'one of the first things' ;)

i think there was a slow pan showing off all the shimmery lower res goodness lol.

now done with dinner, time to actually play this ;)

Hey guys, any hints for trophy collecting? Lots of missables? Is there a NG+ so I don't have to worry about it?

Thanks! This will be my first Ys :)

Yeah, flash guard is pretty easy for me to pull off now that I got a hang of doing it again. Flash move timing is wayyyyy tighter though.

Got my Silver Anniversay edition!
The book is great. So is the map. The compass, eh, but it doesn't feel too cheap.
Can't wait to give the music collection a listen!

The game itself is fun, similar to Ys 7. Loving the tight timing of the flash move and guard. The visuals look okay - PSP assets with more advanced lighting. Can't wait to get further into the game (just finished the intro mine section.

Do everything! ;)

Seriously, though, there are missables, but if you're thorough, you won't get hit by any of them. And even if you do, there IS a new game+.

Thanks a lot :)

Amazon shipped my Silver Edition late so I won't play it until friday :(

played a bit, beat first 'boss'. default control scheme is a bit odd after playing other action games in recent years. never liked R+O for skill1 lol always accidentally switch guys D:

and the framerate is real sloppy in the first town. not solid 30 fps. Was this a launch game? I don't recall it being one...

So, I'm 3 hours in, still very early on Nightmare...but I haven't hit a single dungeon yet...I feel really weird saying this and I kind of don't want to, but so far this is probably the first Ys game that hasn't clicked with me right away. Usually as soon as I walk out into that first field and hear that first track I get all pumped up and I can't stop. It's not happening with this game so far. As fast as the game feels and as refined as the Ys 7 elements are, I kind of don't like how congested these fields/forests are. I feel like there's just WAY too much happening on some of these screens. Hmm...I hope some of these core dungeons change my perspective on this. I think after this game I would like to see Falcom go back to a more Oath in Felghana approach. I'm starting to think that while as much as I loved/enjoyed Ys 7, I sort of miss the platforming and centralized dungeon flow.

Hmm...with that said, is there any way to strip equipment of enhancements? I'm kind of nervous to upgrade my equipment because I don't want to waste some of these materials on low level gear if I'm just about to run into better stuff. But, those fucking poison dudes in the forest, I'm almost always running around at 1 HP because I haven't used any Topaz (or was it Emerald, lol?) gems on my armor. =/

Amazon was supposed to deliver the game today but they didn't. Well, they say they did but I was here when it says it was delivered and it wasn't. Guess it'll be a while longer before I get to play some Ys.

Not so sure about that, a few of the quests you can screw up on, while still completing them, and not getting the achievement. Accidentally did one of those early, kinda annoying.

The tickle one looks to be a giant pain in the ass too.

Whoa, just discovered the first wrap-around-couch in the forest. Knocked that log down. All's good in the world again (lol!).

Played several hours while in the car as a passenger today. Did the introductory dungeons for the first two characters you meet in the forest that are party members. Ended up having to stop since it was my turn to drive, but I really like it so far.

I am glad to hear there is new game plus in case I do miss something. I kind of dislike having characters tell you to turn around if you are heading the wrong way, but I guess it makes sense.

Won't get mine until Friday. I guess spending Thanksgiving without Ys.

Maybe I will play some Ys Origin instead.

Played this for a total of 6 hours now. Loving it!! The graphics are like a slightly better PSP game but the scale is much bigger in this game so it isn't a problem.

Plus, exploring and beating up stuff is absolutely addictive!

Gotta love nightmare mode. Took a billion tries to take down the first boss but now I'm having a blast on the fields.

My premium edition has been backordered in cduniverse. I don't know if they will be able to restock, where should I run to now? It needs to be a store that ships internationally.
