When I heard I had to play the game 3 times to see the "real" ending I was disappointed.

And then I played it and jesus christ that was so good.

Technically, in the Steam version, you only have to play it twice.

But you miss out on either Yunica's story or Hugo's story if you do it that way, and that's just no good at all! ;)

Used to be having a reason to replay a game was a good thing. Now it's looked on as more of a chore.

"You mean I have to play as Knuckles now to see what happens after Sonic leaves the island?"

... well, maybe the Sonic franchise isn't the best example...

I was scared of getting a damaged LE but I got mine yesterday in perfect conditions.

Now to never play because I don't have a Vita.

If you're only going to play it twice, it HAS to be Hugo/
Claw
.

I personally like Yunica, it feels like her story is the vanilla one and she plays like Adol the most.

I'm about 4 hours into the game and loving it so far. Very reminiscent of Ys 7 thus far. The music is godly as always. The graphics seems pretty horrible even after a few hours. The game is really "bright" as in overly, and I can't find a setting that makes it look better. I think I heard it was a PSP game originally and that shows and is unfortunate.

Otherwise, I like the whole travel journal approach and Adol trying to recall his adventures in a time and place. It's a really cool concept. One annoyance is the AI for your party members. Really it's about them running and grabbing EVERYTHING before I can including those green orbs for healing. Fuckers lol! Now I'm just rambling but all in all I'm having a lot of fun and will continue to plug away at it.

Absolutely loving this game. Finally got 100% of the map, now onto finding the chests and harvest points. Thank goodness I found a good map for that. imgur.com/a/a8Xdy. If anyone is interested.

I never played an Ys game before, liking it alot so far. (I just went into the plain and I had to stop). I started playing straight on Nightmare (The first boss took me like 45 minutes of attempt) but once I figured Flash Dodge and Flash Guard it went prety smoothly (Why did they put the tutorial about these features after...)

My question is do I gimp myself playing on Nightmare at first ? I read in previous game you gained less xp and money, since there's NG+ am I supposed to play on normal or hard and then nightmare ?

This game is just pure fun. Currently on what I assume to be the final dungeon and I've been having a blast. The skill system does kind of irk me though, as it seems you need to invest a fair amount of time in one before it fully levels up - which of course is at odds with all of the new skills that become available as you wreck enemies.

I noticed there are a variety skills that send your character into the air alongside the enemy, despite the fact that you can't jump or attack in midair.. Hopefully the next Ys game will expand on that and allow for aerial combat again. I can only imagine the juggling possibilities...

Finally got my copy today. I'm glad my Silver Edition made the journey from Canada to Germany undamaged, I was kinda worried after I've read all the reports of damaged packaging earlier in the thread.
Now I just have to switch my Vita to my normal account and I can finally start playing.

Edit: For some reason all the OST CDs are making one hell of a noise in my PC drive. Seems they can be read just fine, though. What the hell did they do with those CDs, is anyone else having this problem?

Tower of Providence was the highlight of the game for me so far. That Ys 6 reference, so cool. Neat little dungeon, cool artifact (how it can be used during a particular form of one of the boss battles as great too) and great music there. About 18 hours in, 50% of the map covered. Still unsure of where I would place this game, but I'm still digging it.

Finished it! What a ride. Still missing a ton of trophies but thats why there is NG+ on to Tearaway.

Somehow missed finding all the resource point (98.6%) and all the monsters. Did anyone defeat the one boss in the forest in their fiirst playthrough?

Same here. I was preparing for the worst - I had bad luck with imports to Germany the last few years to the point that I mostly stopped buying LEs. They were either crumbled, crashed, opend and damaged at the customs or got wet on their voyage *looks at crumbled Ys Seven, TitS, Tactics Ogre, BlazBlue and so on LE boxsets on the shelf* :/ But Celceta arrived in super perfect megaMINT condition.

And what a great LE this is! I'm really enjoying all the little things in the box, the general design, the fanservice stuff like the soundtrack. Great work there, this is quite the fine treasure box of a LE.

I also started the game, and it is good... but I think it hasn't completely clicked with me yet. Having played Ys Seven again in the last weeks, I think the soundtrack is a bit better in Seven and the general speed of gameplay seems different. But hey, I will probably get used to this and Ys Celceta will come out great as well; Most Ys games took 1-2 dungeons before they really clicked with me, they always seem similiar to each other at first glance but under the surface they play quite differently. Otherwise, so far, I like the general style of the game and all the little tweaked gameplay elements to Seven's gameplay system. I hope I will be able to waltz through the game on my christmas holiday.

Hm. I find that the boss fights are generally more fun with Solo Adol. Doing Time Attack with just Adol has improved my opinions of many of them significantly.

They don't really compare to Origin or Oath fights, but they're still better than most other Action RPGs.

I've been playing this as time allows and I think I may be doing things out of order. I just defeated my first boss fight after getting the mission to map the forest.

It was the hornet boss after the tree village was attacked

My map is at about 39% complete. Did I miss something along the way?

Not that I'm complaining. The game is awesome.

I also started the game, and it is good... but I think it hasn't completely clicked with me yet.

About one hour later, it has clicked with me :) Fightingsystem is so good, soundtrack grew on me (apart from the tune in the city) and everything's allright.

I also began reading some of the LE book. So awesome in diary style :) Is this some sort of swan song for classic game manuals ^^? It makes me sad that this kind of thing will be/already is the exception rather than something to also look forward to in a new purchase...

I don't know if it's just me and my bad reflexes or because I started the game on Nightmare but I really can't get the hang of the timing for flash guarding/dodging which is not really helpful on boss fights. The boss in the passage is proving to be a slow learning process.

The party AI's a bit annoying as well. I found that within about 20 seconds of the boss fight for the Selray section, they'd either managed to get themselves killed or injured enough so that were doing no damage. Really dragged that fight out.

Just started the game (on Nightmare). Man, I'm already getting my ass kicked by the first boss, the way it should be. But can you dodge the attack where he just falls on the floor with anything else than Flash Guard? He does it so often, I'd rather use something more reliable.

Edit: Finally beat the boss on what was probably the 20th try. I love this game already.

Finding that
crack
in Lake Tolmes that
Ozma could break
took forever. I walked around the whole thing so many times and never triggered the reticule because I was diving underwater.

Still struggling to find the missing resource location. Down to just one. I wish they would ahve done some kind of percentage for the dungeons also, it would have made this a bit earier.

Doesn't each "---" on the resource list when you highlight an area/resource point indicate that you're missing a material/resource from that spot? Should be pretty easy to narrow down what you're missing, right? Unless I'm looking at it wrong (haven't read up on the Trophy requirement either so maybe I'm wrong about how it all works).

Each resource point hold 2 items, so if your missing one item you most likely found all the resourse point. The catch to this is is only list resource and chest you have discovered. Atleast that the way I was understanding it. I have one more left and have all the dungeon items filled and have compared the world map with one that has them all displayed numerous times.

Spoiler I think:

I just made it through the
Underground Ruins to the other side of the river.

Map says something like
50/51
percent.

Is it safe to say I am halfway through the game? I guess I am going slow because I am already at 15 hours in.

Does the game started to get harder at
Tower of Providence
?
I am on Hard difficulty and things seems started to pick up. How far am I in anyway?

Just got this today (my first Ys game), played for an hour or so.

First impressions: It's fucking blurry. What resolution is it running at? Artwork seems fine, but the game looks like an upscaled PSP game with a vaseline filter applied for good measure. Seriously, the difference in clarity between the game and the anime intro was mind boggling.

Second impressions: Wish there was more voice acting, but oh well. Combat is really fun and fast paced, even early on. Movement is almost too fast paced, particularly for non-combat areas. And thank god for save-anywhere. Too few JRPGs do that anymore.

Overall, very interested to play more.

Huh, got an NISA email about them bringing this over to Europe next year. Was this known?

Regardless I'm pretty glad they seem to have become great at bringing this stuff over for Europeans, even though I don't live there.

I'm in the same spot and it definitely seems like the difficulty picked up. I'm pretty bad about upgrading weapons and equipment though. Pretty confident that will fix it

They are in the process of becoming my favourite third party publisher (don´t care for their inhouse games to be honest)

Persona 4 Golden
Dangan Ronpa
Etrian Odyssey IV
Etrian Odyssey Untold
this strange Curry RPG

Does the
King of Jungle
fight give you a chest? I think I'm missing one.

I'm also missing a memory. I don't know if that's in the final dungeon or not. I'm at the point of no return.

Finished the game earlier with all sidequests, map completion, misc trophies etc. except for the harvesting points. I'm at like 98.9% and have double checked the trophy guide maps and there are none missing in any of the dungeons. It's pretty frustrating, and I'm thinking of just giving up and moving onto Sorcery Saga despite the fact that I wanted to platinum this first. I really enjoyed the game though, at least.
