'Fraid we're all out. That's why it's no longer available in our online store. Sorry!

-Tom

Rats. Even I'll just settle for TitS going on dame on PSN so I can double dip and have it on my boys (pleasepleaseplease).

The draw distance in this game is absolutely insane, and Falcom knows it because they set up convenient spots where you can stand and look out into the distance. Hahaha.

That's a total Ys trademark. It happens in almost every game and is always my favorite part.

I've never played an Ys game before, is this a good starting point or will I be lost story-wise?

You'll be alright. The main character gets amnesia on a regular basis (he should have that checked out), and the stories aren't connected after I+II.

Ys Seven had a returning character from VI, though. Not in this, though.

Isn't combat mostly top downish at melee range?

There's a lot of side angles that let you see in the distance.

Really hoping for a shipping notice on this tomorrow. It's a great game though I agree with Aeana, it's not my idea of a definitive YsIV. I personally prefer Dawn of Ys but I'm glad to see this appealing to fans of Ys7 and turning people on to the Vita. Big kudos to Xseed for bringing it over, the limited edition looks great.

Have my Silver edition all set for me on Amazon.

Loved Ys 7 - although had to painfully learn to block reliably about 2/3rds into the game. Right now slowly playing Ys Origin on Steam on and off.

Maybe I will try Dawn of Ys - although I hate to pay for an emulator, not because I can't afford it but because every other emulator out there is free :)

Hey now! Whatchu got against anime?!

It's the kind with all sorts of supernatural powers, alternate dimension-y things and deus ex machina, basically. It's all done very, very well -- the quality of the writing never decreases, and nothing is stupid or suspension-of-disbelief-breaking -- but the first half of the game is largely devoid of such things, so it was a bit of a surprise to see the story shift gears like that.

One way to think of it is, the first half is kind of like a travel adventure with a "Who am I?" mystery attached to it... and then the second half is Thor. ;)

-Tom

I don't have anything against anime, except the shitty kind :)
Anime-ish storyline is fine for me as long as they are tight and well written.
To have a drastic change of tone like that, it must be because certain part of the game that shift it, am I right?

I tried the Japanese demo and was instantly sold by the awesome music during the first part of it. I actually kept the demo after I had finished it, so I can listen to dat music again some more.

Another score for Sonodagod and co.

can't wait to put celceta next to my copy of Dawn of Ys

When I go to my amazon.com order page, it is listed as 'pre-order' still, but if I click the 'order details' link it says 'Shipping now' -- not sure what is going on there, but hopefully it adds up to me getting the game on release day :D

Wyrdwad, do you know what's going on with Amazon.ca? Can't seem to place a preorder on the game.

Fellow Canadian here, I preordered the collector's edition from gamestop.ca just fine.

Amazon.ca is generally pretty unreliable for preordering non-mainstream games.

Well, I got charged for my collector's edition today. Completely forgot it was coming out this month. I'm still playing through Seven on the Vita. I played a bit of this one at E3 this year, and had a good time. Looking forward to it.

My LE is coming from Amazon tomorrow so I'm happy. It said yesterday to get 1-day shipping to get it Tuesday. Asked them about the discrepancy between that and the standard (which only required 2-day). They said it was a display error on the product page then they waived the fee and will have it Tuesday. :D

so there's a chance i will get this tomorrow? the last time i did this AC4 or something was stuck as "preorder" which is why i had to use the actual order page to see whats up. even when i got the tracking it got stuck at that status. darn holiday time. i hope they sort this out soon.

Amazon has a delivery date of December 2nd for my silver edition bleeeehhhhhhhh

At least that'll give me more time to work on Pokemon and Zelda.

FlyinJ

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Does this game have the same uber-hard bosses that Oath had?

I was loving Oath until I got wiped by the first boss about 20 times in a row.

Maybe! Not sure though.

Can we expect any reviews for this release before it's out(tomorrow)?
Also any idea on the length based on imports etc?

Haven't seen any reviews out or anyone even mentioning it, so not sure if it is embargoed or they have some issue with digital copies (I've heard of some publishers just giving out PSN codes for review copies before).

Haha, it's been on PSN for ages, like all other PSP Ys games. Also has been on sale several times already. Where have you been? ;)

Shiiiit. Game looks a bit like a psp game upressed on vita too.

Might need to wait for impressions. Ys 7 wasn't the best recent one which this seems a bit similar too. Hmmmm

It saddens me that fps even came up in a discussion about a handheld RPG. If that's what you are looking for in an RPG, particularly on a handheld, you are going to be disappointed. This isn't the genre for that. None of them need 60 fps(the majority of non-PC RPG's run around 24-30), and rpgamer's aren't looking it.

Greatly anticipating this game. I've had the LE pre-ordered on Amazon since it went up. Going to swing by Gamestop to see if they still have the LE available, and if they are going to get it on release day.

have you plays Ys 7? this is like the only rpg ever that fps matters. Celceta would be nuts in 60 fps.

but ys is barely an rpg franchise. more action adventure. its only recently they started having loot and skills and stuff no? with how fast combat tends to be, and how unforgiving bosses get, better input response time doesn't hurt.

its been 60fps on pc all this time and was only 30 on the psp ones (correctly me if i'm wrong here)

Took me like 10 times to finally understand what the title said. Ees. Not Eyes.

Well, the "modern" Ys games do have action game trapping, so it's not that unexpected for someone to want a blistering framerate. I have yet to play Celceta (tomorrow! :D) so I'm not too sure if it would impact it one way or another, but yeah, a quick framerate is pretty much always beneficial.

It is true that the JP patch 1.02 improved the draw distance and loading times or only is a compatibility patch for the Vita TV?

Framerate definitely matters for Ys, it's one reason why I prefer the PC games over the PSP ones.

I wish Celceta was 60FPS. It's even more disappointing they couldn't hit that when you consider the game doesn't even run at native res.

Yeah, that really does blow. It's not like the game is a graphical showcase either.

I just got the email from Amazon saying my copy of Ys MoC Silver Anniversary Ed. has been shipped!

I should have it tomorrow. The only problem is that it's shipping with the new Zelds 3DS game.

It's a good problem to have.

Right? I'll be juggling Mario, Zelda, Tearaway and Ys. Great time to be playing games. 2013 has been pretty amazing.

Well shoot. Went to go cancel the Amazon order after finding out my GS had theirs in for tomorrow when I get the shipping notice. Not quite sure what to do.

Really on the fence on this. I enjoyed Oath in Felghana but played about three hours of 7 before quitting due to just not liking it very much.

Guess I'll wait for impressions.

ooooh yeah i remember what little thing i disliked from 7. the addition of dodge. Just seemed silly dodging your away across the world D:

seems like you kinda do teh same here too.

Whaaaaat? How can anyone dislike the dodge roll?! That's one of the best parts of Gurumin, Ys Seven and -- indeed -- Ys Celceta! It's sooooo satisfying rolling out of harm's way at the last possible moment, and Celceta even takes it a step further by rewarding you with a "Flash Move" if your timing is perfect, making enemies move in slow motion for a few seconds afterward. Really makes you feel like some sort of ninja. ;)

its fine in combat, but when you use it for moving around the world map fast, its a bit silly/immersion kililng.

so thats what 'flash move' is... is there a detailed list of gameplay changes vs 7?

Seems like you can't spam 1 skill anymore?

Dodging was the best thing about Ys Seven (apart from the music)! I played through the whole game without guarding just by dodging.

Edit: And rolling through the world seems quite natural, if you played enough Zelda. ;)
