Yusuf Mehdi on Xbox One: 'We have a better value proposition than our competitors'

The only thing the Bone has on the PS4 is its launch line-up as D4 and Crimson Dragon sound more interesting than... nothing.

I think the PS4 holds its own nicely against the 180 launch lineup. Factor in the Indies and I'll say it's looking pretty good. I'm excited about getting my launch PS4 and I also admire the 180 games that I'll get to play next year. It's a good time for games, regardless of which console you boot up.

The PS4 Camera is what, $60? A year of PS+ is also $60?

For $520, $20 more than the base price of the XBO, I get the motion gimmick games, PS+'s free games every month, access to MP, and all my subscription services.

For $500 for the XBO, I get a box that puts everything, including services I already pay for behind a paywall, inferior hardware, and the glorious motion gimmick garbage.

How is the XBO a value proposition again? That's assuming you want to even bother paying for a PS4 camera and PS+. You could get a game and a year of PS+ for $20 more than a gaameless, serviceless XBO.

PS+ is $50 a year.

They really need to show more of the XBone dashboard. Albert Penello showed it off behind closed doors at Gamescon and said he would have something to show in public in a week or so, but I haven't herd anything else about it. I'm excited about the XBone can do beyond games and love to have a powerful interface like XBone dashboard be the main centerpiece of my tv for all things entertainment.

Wow at all of the anti kinect comments. None of you have even used the thing, and you're already shitting on it without even waiting to see how it turns out.

Also, the guy is doing his job. I don't understand the vitriolic reaction to MS employees spitting game about its own product. If this were yosp, or cerny, you'd all be fawning all over this thread.

Why hasn't MS shown ANYTHING that is so super cool for Kinect that should make me want to pay $100 more over PS4 for it? Kinect Sports? Seriously, this whole OMG Kinect will be great!!! is a joke and has been since the original came out. Nothing fun or interesting has been shown.

I guess there's a few indie games that look interesting on the PS4, but I'd never buy a console specifically for indie titles. I just want a few interesting Japanese titles to be announced at TGS and maybe I could join in on the hypetrain.

To each their own. We will see once each console launches and we actually start next generation in full swing.

I'm getting both.

I am as well.

I thought that waverace game looked pretty cool. Also, fantasia looks cool too. But hey, that's my opinion.

And I never said kinect will be great, I'm reserving judgment until I have that thing in my house, or watch some launch day footage of it.

I think it's rather myopic to simply dismiss the Kinect sensor the way a lot of people here are doing. I think Microsoft has demonstrated the value Kinect will bring to Xbox One. And I think the entertainment features of Xbox One also contribute to its value.

I have both consoles on preorder, but I'm looking forward to Xbox One a lot more, because it brings a lot more to the table than PS4.

I'd argue they haven't demonstrated anything currently in games or menu that isn't already done with Kinect 1.0. Name one game that's showing off Kinect 2.0.

They've demonstrated that it'll be cool for UI navigation and nothing else.

The GAF is becoming worse than the IGN comments section.

It's going to get worse. Once people have actually dropped money on these consoles/games it's going to get downright stupid. There are a few differences between this Gen and last Gen. Nintendo coming off of a flop to be a runaway success, Xbox 360 coming off of a flop and launching a year earlier, Sony having to give up market share, PC gamers getting shunned and overwhelmed by console gamer ignorance...the whole game has changed. Nintendo is treading water for now, MS has no head start or ease of development advantage, Sony has the more powerful and cheaper console but PC gaming has spread like wildfire so there's no more "lol'ing" PC gamers out of threads and they're rightfully claiming their right to be part of the power discussion.

It's going to be anarchy if you aren't playing for all of the teams. Actually, I'm playing for all of the teams and I know that I'm still going to be aggravated. Strap in, it's going to be a wild ride.

Launch lineup can't really be counted as a positive or a negative for either platform because it is all based on personal choice. MS's lineup does absolutely nothing for me, but Sony's lineup has me extremely excited. I love the Killzone games, and Shadow Fall looks like a ton of fun. Driveclub reminds me a lot of Project Gotham Racing, and that has me super excited. Also, the F2P games may be available on PC, but they are new to console gamers, and this will be the first time that they are really playable with a controller on the couch (aside from DCUO), so I am excited about that.

Hint:

It's not a gaming device.

It is a smoke screen for a device that was engineered to collect data on you.

i like how they are stating more launch games then playstation4 at launch but the true fact is

- 3rd party games will matter

- beside forza and ryse what other games will be anything special?

killzone shadow fall looks the best next gen game of anything releasing so quanity is never quality microsoft.

Dead Rising 3, Crimson Dragon?

Could you inform yourself at least a little bit, before you make such ignorant comments?

I'm sick of you guys bashing Kinect! Nobody's excited about Kinect Sports Rivals?.....

You can't honestly expect most people on a hardcore gaming forum to be excited for a game like that right?

Even if kinect wasn't a joke of a device it's still a motion control device and that game is a casual party game. It's not exactly our favorite kind of stuff on here generally speaking.

There's that "value" word again...

Tell ya what, swap out Kinect for something like OR, and we can start talking real value.

It maps your face when you create your avatar, and it has improved motion capture. There are videos from gamescom.

You seem to have followed KS:R better than me so I'll ask you; Does the jet ski game use your wrist positioning to determine acceleration? If so I'll probably have fun with that and it's something that I know the old Kinect couldn't do.

I'm not sure anybody can argue with opinion, which is all you've stated. Some people will like Crimson Dragon, DR3 etc.

I find it hilarious. Especially when Bish randomly pops in and names start going gray.

Funny thing about value, if it were really there they wouldn't need to talk about it this much.

The only reason they "talk" about it is because journos ask them "So guys, why is the X1 100$ more?". It'S not like MS is sending PR about how paying 100$ more gives you more value. They're not there... yet.

Controls are easy: hold both hands out, closing your fist for the accelerator and opening your hand to let off the gas. You pull one arm in gently in order to turn in that direction, or lean your body into it for a harder turn. Pull back off a jump to do an in-air flip. It's all extremely responsive, just like you always wished it was on the original Kinect.

From the ign article.

I was joking bro, ha.

I plan on eventually getting both systems, but the statements Microsoft have been giving lately support my decision to purchase the PS4 first. I'm sure some will fully utilize its entertainment capabilities, but that won't be me. All I need is my core video games and the Netflix app.

Lol, yeah Bish don't give a fuck. He at least sends them off with a humorous quip before he revs the lawnmower. Sometime. Other times it's more of a mountain top sniper. *bang*

Alright! Sounds fun to me. Thanks dude!

I don't see this value proposition when I get squat for extra content for my $60 yearly sub and the xbox is nothing more than an offline SP gaming machine without it.
Therefore I won't buy it. Now if XBL gold wasn't required to use all the entertainment functions and was focused on online gaming, I'd sort of understand the value proposition MS is talking about.

It would have been fun to see them selling this proposition, had they not done a 180. An absolute PR nightmare.

It's not like the thread is brimming with the Xbox disciples. Look around. That's why it's news! A chance to shit is a chance to shit, even if you have to force a pebble out.
Corporate whiteknighting at its finest. Even after launch MS isn't going to sleep with you, much less give you a hug.
