yuzu will pay $2.4 million in damages to Nintendo to settle their lawsuit

Surprised Nintendo settled for just a small payout. Maybe they aren't so confident on their legal take about emulation.

The code is already written. Nintendo can't stop me from compiling it.
But how complete is Yuzu? I'm sure nobody is going to work on this code base anymore, at least not the people originally working on it. That means they've lost good developers to fix issues, bugs and further implementations of Switch software. Although Ruyjinx is still going strong or something, lol.

They gave them basically everything they wanted and maybe some more.
the point of going to court would be to see if they could get a new precedent, instead this is just Nintendo using their money to bully people that can't afford to stand up to them in court ($2.4 million might actually be cheaper for Yuzu than lawyers would have cost even if they won)

Lawyer here - I haven't read the document yet, but a permanent injunction is usually a court order to restrain a party from doing something. Given the context of the case, I am guessing Nintendo got an injunction to stop the distribution of the Yuzu emulator.

Yuzu works perfectly fine as it is. This injunction applies to Tropic Haze. No one else. Others can take this source code and make modifications on their own. And after this news, I'm betting the number of forks of this code is skyrocketing.

Sure did, but that wasn't my point.

I am pretty sure is going to be down after the Final Judgment and Permanent Injunction… Those guys don't want to mess with Nintendo.
This document basically asks the court to enter the settlement as described and end the case.

As soon as the court complies the domains etc will be taken over by Nintendo.

Risky tactic because the court might have found against Nintendo on something.

This way they get what they want with minimal risk.

Virtually nothing stopping the devs from closing down the company and resuming their work on another fork, probably working on Switch 2 support too. Especially since this applies to tropic haze and not the individuals.

The only precedent this case will set is that you can't even teach people how to dump their switch prod keys anymore.

I don't want to say something like "I will kiss you if you're right" because I really don't want to kiss you ... but I hope you're right. 😛

These guys made 2.5M on patreon? Sheesh. People were really thirsty for that build around TOTK launch.

I find Ryujinx to be a bit better anyway. Let's see which runs Unicorn Overlord better.

Which means folks will probably end up downloading it from site illegally, unfortunately.

Why not? I'm pretty

Yuzu is dead, long live Juzu (name pending).

Ryujinx is more compatible, but personally I use it simply because it tracks time played. The silliest of reasons.
