The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I don't have anything against Zach Braff, and I've generally enjoyed his work, but I'm certainly not passionate about it or him, and I think that's the issue. I don't think you can get a lot of mileage on kickstarter with stuff that people just "like", at least when it comes to video games/tv/movies. It has to be something people really care about and are clamoring for.

I would've backed this if one of the lower tiers had a copy of the movie. I was kind of confused scrolling through the rewards and not seeing "digital download of the movie" anywhere.

It'll probably succeed so I'll just see it in theaters/blu-ray. I have no issue with the fact that someone from the upper class is doing a kickstarter. I'm sure it's not the first time.

Why aren’t you offering a Digital Download or DVD reward?

I wish I could give you all everything you want. Unfortunately, giving away the movie could scare off the good distributors for movies like this, because the theater chains insist on having the “first run” of movies before they are available on DVD or digitally. I want all my fans to be able to see this movie in their hometown theaters on the big screen if they want to. I hope you like the rewards I am offering, and if there’s something you don’t see on the page, please comment and let me know.
Makes sense I guess.

In for $100, i like the guy and his work. If you don't like it or KS simply don't back it. Crying on the internet is going to do nothing but make you look like a bitter and jealous fool.

Yes, God forbid anyone should express a negative opinion on an Internet forum. Excuse me while I go to the gaming side to inform those bitter and jealous fools they have no right to say bad things about games they don't have to buy if they don't want to.

(Still want this to make a sh*tload of money just to spite MJH)

So it's not about the art, or doing it for your fans or any of that shit. It's about making money. Also how is it 'giving away the movie' if some chump gives you $100?

Oh and it's also about letting your fans see it on a big screen. *rolls eyes*

The fact he plans on distributing it and thus can't give away copies of the movie really dulls the appeal of the whole thing.

I remember talking a film discussion class in college and for a week the discussion was about whether Garden State is the zeitgeist of our generation. Ugh. I wanted to drop the class so bad after that point.

I had a friend say that she thought Garden State was the movie of our (college) generation a year or so after it first came out. Ugh.

I don't really feel anything more needs to be said with the characters from Garden State, nor do I feel Kickstarter is the right avenue for this.
I'm probably a hypocrite, given some of the things ive backed, but this shall not be one of them.

It's not a sequel

Much like The Postal Service, this is better off left as a memory of something cute and treasured of my youth and not an embarrassing aside of my future.

It's already over $320,000.00, while the Melissa Joan-Hart project that's been up for days is stuck at 35 grand....ouch.

which seminal indie-pop favorites will be on this film's soundtrack.

"you've never heard Grizzly Bear? oh, they're going to change your life."

I wish I could get this donor list publicized.

"Unfortunately Mr. Bob, it turns out you gave Zach Braff money for a Garden State sequel. Your opinion is worth less than dog shit I'm afraid."

I dont see the problem. People spend their money the way they like. If they want to contribute to this because its something they'd like to see, who cares? A lot of people seem way too personally invested in what OTHER people do with their money and I dont understand why.

I think the take away is that encouraging Zach Braff encourages self-absorbed wankery.

I like Braff and loved garden state. But I find ks gross, especially celebrity kickstarters (of whatever industry).

Conflicted.

why? Its not like its bill gates asking for it. I doubt he has enough to fork over 2 million...im sure their is reasoning behind this

I wish him the best of luck on this, he gave me Scrubs.

I'll only back it if he reprises his role in Arrested Development.

I thank Garden State for introducing me to two things:

1. Imogen Heap by way of Frou Frou's Let Go (great track, especially for the trailer)
2. The term "manic pixy dream girl" (inadvertently)

Outside of those two things, I really don't like the film.

His celebrity status and the cult-following that Garden State has will ensure that this makes it. He's almost a quarter way there and he just launched. Good for him. I forget sometimes that Zach Braff is also quite an avid screenwriter as well as an actor. Sounds like the studio was pushing him around with the production of this and he decided to take another route. I've been fascinated as to whether Kickstarter has the potential to support films (with their ridiculously high production costs) so this could get set a good precedent.

I'd support this if I wasn't broke. He has my support in spirit.

Garden State wasn't good at all. Soundtrack: The Movie. I did see some indie movie with him a year or two ago where he was a drug dealer in Montreal that I thought was pretty good, though.

he's already at half a million dollars. will this bring in more than the veronica mars kickstarter?

Rewards for film kickstarters are always kinda weird. Hmmm. They need to find a way around that. The online screening plus Q&A sounds neat, though!

Anyway, yeah, he'll fund this. I do like Zach Braff. Charming guy.

Garden State was one of the most insufferable, self-indulgent movies I've ever sat through. The world does not need anything else like it.

Request DENIED.
