u_neek said:Xbox 360 has lost its biggest competitor this Xmas and Sony doesn't have anything THAT big (sales wise) ready for Q4, am I right? Unless KH2 is released but that seems unlikely.
Now MS, produce a trillion 360s and the world is yours..

I should have shrunk this.
Mama Smurf said:I suppose this is pretty awful if you only own a GC, but how many of us can claim that? For the rest there's loads of good stuff coming out this year still, so one game getting delayed to add content and improve what's already there shouldn't be too hard a blow!
You have to admire Nintendo for it really (though apparently you don't, given some of the replies in this thread about giving up on Nintendo and selling the GC and stuff). There's no way they're going to get more sales than if they released this Christmas, in fact they're likely to get considerably less, and the game they were going to put out this year would probably have been great and loved by many, even if still bitched about by other like WW. There's really little to no business advantage in this for Nintendo, they're just doing it for the quality of the game.
This better be a fucking great game though, it's going to end up with a considerably longer development time than Wind Waker or Majora's Mask. I'd think GC owners would be a bit more welcome to delays though, given how Mario Sunshine wasn't delayed and definitely needed quite a bit of polishing, while RE4 was and worked out great.

fixedAlcibiades said:So far then, assuming Twilight Princess is the only title knocked out so far, Fall 2005 looks like this:
Mario Baseball
Mario Strikers
Mario DDR
Mario Party 7
Fire Emblem
Odama
Pokemon XD
Geist

I really don't understand the reactions of many Nintendo fans here.
Nintendo would have moved millions of Gamecubes this holiday, but they opted to delay Zelda to have time to make a better game.
Simplified:
- money
+ prestige, credibilty
+new Zelda=all-time classic
Isn't this exactly the opposite of what most accuse them of, that they only care about milking their franchises with lackluster sequels while ignoring their fanbase?
This is the return to the "let's delay the whole console launch for a few months again, Super Mario 64 most be the best game ever"-mantra from the N64-days - and I'm thankful for that.
