:lol :lol

Have I told you lately that I love you? :D

Xbox 360 has lost its biggest competitor this Xmas and Sony doesn't have anything THAT big (sales wise) ready for Q4, am I right? Unless KH2 is released but that seems unlikely.

Now MS, produce a trillion 360s and the world is yours..

:lol

so the "biggest release of 2005" got delayed with 4 months? that's just awesome. poor cubers, now they have nothing to play for another 7 months :lol

edit: How can you laugh about this :(

Zelda is one of the best series to grace the earth, the game from your sig is not even in its league. You should try playing some of them :)

PS2 will have Dragon Quest 8! 4 MILLION OBSESSED. In other words, no, it doesn't.

Exactly, DQ8 and Shadow of Colossus are some of Sony's biggest releases this Xmas and they aren't really big sellers..

That's a very big delay. I was kinda looking foward to playing it this year. Really, I think this pretty much does it for TP in terms of sales potential, it was already coming out late, it's just gonna go by pretty much unnoticed next year. Still quality is more important.

Cube now is really dead in the USA. In 2004 it only sold well in December and it would've definitely sold well this December, too - of course only with Zelda. Now you have decide btween... a Cube with MP7, an Xbox with no future, a PS2 with atleast a few really good games coming out and an Xbox 360 with NextGen Graphics(let's forget GBM, DS and PSP for the moment). It's not THAT hard to figure out which console will lose... :D

Edit: On the other hand, fuck it! Cube is dead anyways and I really want the best game they have ever made, it doesn't change that much if they sell one or two m cubes less.
Btw. with Zelda releasing 2006 WW it seems as NRev can't be released until atleast the end of the second quarter(unless they wanna launch it the same day to present BC :lol ).

That does it. I'm so done with Nintendo. Just packed up GameCube from my living room and took it to the basement. It's Halo 2, GTA: SA and MGS3 until Xbox 360 release for me. After that, it's next gen - Xbox 360 and PS3.

Oh crap...I've just thought that maybe Nintendo will see what "gamers" want, and use the time to put that into the game.

I guess that means voice acting, blood, and a moody storyline and all the other bullshit that people like Matt C want in a Zelda game (ie all the stuff that doesn't belong in there)

I woke up to this? fuck fuck fuck fuck, and more fuck. :(

oh well DQ8 and Fire Emblem PoR to the rescue

Cute, except the only other game Nintendo delayed this gen like this was Pikmin 2.

Goddamnit, nintendo's gonna cry this christmas, and me too ; ;

Oh well, i'll never argue against the time it takes to make a zelda game, i dont want a rushed product, but now all weight's on Shadow of the collosus or this fall, i need my action/adventure fix, badly.

I hope they wont @123rl...
But considering the last game Nintendo delayed, Pikmin 2, finally became one of the best gaming experiences this generation, my hopes are high now, that Zelda TP will really be the best Zelda ever. I'm OK with the delay, althuog I think, it will hurt sales. Buisness wise it isn't a good decision, but for me, quality of the games is much more important, than the amount of games sold by Nintendo. It's undoubtly a good day for Microsoft, as the biggest competitor to 360's release won't make it into the stores at time. I hope, they release it before Revolution, so that I can play through, before playing Mario :D.

Racoon - Laugh about it.

Can you give me solid ground,
cause all my footsteps turn me down,
one by one.
Can you give me free advice,
I don't know if I can,
but I'll try to listen.
And I can blast friendship to hell,
or I can try to make things better.
They change the rules when it's my turn,
so they can laugh and watch me burn.

I can laugh about it,
or I can cry about it.
I should ignore the words you say.
Cause they can hurt,
but won't kill me
They can hurt,
but won't kill me.

They can hurt but won't kill me.

A fist full of the things you love.
Life's a quiz so cough it up.
Go on and cough it up now.
When the future's far away,
it's always better then today.
And everytime I'm having fun,
there's something I'm doing wrong.
And all these warning lights are lit,
but always after you need it.
Yeah well anyway

I can laugh about it,
I'd better try to laugh.
I can cry about it.
You'll never see me cry
I should ignore the words you say,
they can hurt,
but won't kill me
They can hurt,
but won't kill me.
They can hurt but won't kill me.

So I can laugh about it,
yeah I'd better try to laugh.
I can cry about it.
You know you'll never see me cry.
I should ignore the words you say.
They can hurt,
but won't kill me.
Cause they can hurt,
but won't kill me.
No they won't kill me.

I suppose this is pretty awful if you only own a GC, but how many of us can claim that? For the rest there's loads of good stuff coming out this year still, so one game getting delayed to add content and improve what's already there shouldn't be too hard a blow!

You have to admire Nintendo for it really (though apparently you don't, given some of the replies in this thread about giving up on Nintendo and selling the GC and stuff). There's no way they're going to get more sales than if they released this Christmas, in fact they're likely to get considerably less, and the game they were going to put out this year would probably have been great and loved by many, even if still bitched about by other like WW. There's really little to no business advantage in this for Nintendo, they're just doing it for the quality of the game.

This better be a fucking great game though, it's going to end up with a considerably longer development time than Wind Waker or Majora's Mask. I'd think GC owners would be a bit more welcome to delays though, given how Mario Sunshine wasn't delayed and definitely needed quite a bit of polishing, while RE4 was and worked out great.

You're guaranteed to be playing Zelda:TP by May next year. Either in your home or at E3 2006! :lol

As much as i was looking forward to this i'll actually have to find time to play it if it's released when i think it will. Grandia 3, Legendia, KH2, FFXII, whatever 360 games are out, gonna be a busy 2006.

one thing I have been noticing is the guys at a local EBgames really pushing this title, probably because they have a pre-order deal for it...

what is funny is one of the guys is pretty anti-Nintendo but I guess Zelda is the type of title that appeals even to Nintendo haters...

I remember one guy telling a guy he could give him about $20 more credit for a Zelda reserve (because they are giving out $10 credit per qualified trade-in) and the game would be about in about 2 months...

there are going to be a lot of disappointed people, but at least it should be one of the most pre-ordered titles ever, probably challenging Halo 2 if Ebgames continues pushing the promotion (which I think they will when it gets closer to release)...

I just don't get it, that's a huge delay, and one they should've seen coming and eased into.

I wonder if this isn't a case of the game being "bad," per se, but someone making demands after seeing some things he or she didn't agree with, or think typifies Zelda. For example, we know Miyamoto has had his strong opinions about the series (such as feeling that it was getting too "adult" when Link started to wear an earring in OoT and such, and in response jerked the series back in the other direction with Wind Waker), and I thought he was trying to sit this one out, yet right there in the news, his name gets top-billing. Maybe he didn't like the plot or something about the game, and has demanded that a certain portion or portions be significantly altered.

I don't know, that game just looks incredibly far along to suddenly need an additional 4-5 months at least, and the fact they hadn't been warning press and such that the game may slip from the previously predicted release date suggests that the decision was sudden, and unrelated to resource creation or testing.

Fuck.

The word has never had as much multi-layered meaning as it does now.

Thank the Lord for the release of several AAA PC & DS titles this holiday season and 360 launch, with RR6 and co.

That's because everyone thought it was coming out this christmas, and it's the biggest game to push. Fuck, a local small store had 200 preorders already and we have 110. Besides, it's easy to get preorders off a big game like Zelda.

Theyre gonna have to take those videos out of the shops now. Doubt we'll get the demos this year too now.

Thanks Nintendo!!! I sold my GC a while ago but I was about to buy one from TRU for £49 ($89) with with 2 games I don't want, in anticipation of Zelda TP. I'll save my money and wait for the Revolution!!!
This is the final nail in GC's coffin and it's a Godsend for the competition.

Ninty will be wasting it's resources by releasing Zelda TP on a console that will be all but dead in 2006. Better to cancel it on GameCube and release it as a Launch title for Revolution.
:)

Finish the game, THEN release it. This is how Nintendo used to be, you know?
QFT.
I really don't understand the reactions of many Nintendo fans here.
Nintendo would have moved millions of Gamecubes this holiday, but they opted to delay Zelda to have time to make a better game.
Simplified:
- money
+ prestige, credibilty
+ new Zelda=all-time classic
Isn't this exactly the opposite of what most accuse them of, that they only care about milking their franchises with lackluster sequels while ignoring their fanbase?
This is the return to the "let's delay the whole console launch for a few months again, Super Mario 64 most be the best game ever"-mantra from the N64-days - and I'm thankful for that.

So far then, assuming Twilight Princess is the only title knocked out so far, Fall 2005 looks like this:

Mario Baseball
Mario Strikers
Mario DDR
Mario Party 7
Fire Emblem
Odama
Pokemon XD
Geist
fixed :)

BTW: In the end of 2004, I thought to myself "2005 will be the best year ever, with a new Zelda and a new Tool album"... apparently, 2006 will be that year. :)

Exactly. This is a GOOD thing. They are delaying it to make it better...whether that's to add new areas, fix bugs, improve things etc. We don't know but they are trying to make it as good as they can. I'd rather wait and play it when it's FINISHED than get it early and be disappointed.

I wish people would stop being so selfish and short sighted.

I can't believe I had to wake up to this !!!!!!!

What the hell?

Heh, and I waited on the Zelda line at E3 TWICE.

.....

Guess I'm going to have to go to the Fusion tour this year.....

Dammmit :(

this also probably seals the deal for RE4 to be "consensus" GOTY... I think people thought Zelda might be the only possibility to top that...

I would think people would be happier about this, given all the bitching that goes on about how the Nintendo of the N64, while second, was willing to delay a game to make it just that much more special. Seems like this, if anything, signals a return to that philosophy.

Personally, I preferred not having the Nintendo games I wanted delayed 500 times before coming out, but whatever.

So... Shadow of the Colossus and Okami are going to launch before Zelda. Maybe Nintendo wanted to see how to really do a wolf-based action title before committing to release, and a game with massive scaleable bosses?

I'll probably still get Zelda, but, this will probably be the first time I have to literally dust off / unpack a console after a year of no use, just to play one final game.

What I don't understand is...how can this game be taking so long, when pretty much ALL OF NINTENDO is focussed on it? It's been at 2 E3's now, and potentially will slip to seeing a 3rd? I guess E3 2005 wasnt even Zelda's 'Coming Out' Party, eh? Sounds like Nintendo is getting pretty fucked up internally with Anouma talking about Zelda Revolution starting production and obviously focus now having to be on the Revolution and making sure it has a good set of games already in development.

I'd rather they dropped the utterly fucking awful out-of-place wolf sections from Zelda and still launched this year. I just know when I am playing them I will not be able to stop thinking "totally gimped from Okami and not as good". A Zelda without a gimmick! Imagine it.
