Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

Always glad to see a batch move through, if only to renew hope that one day my game BasketBelle will make it onto Steam as well. It's gotten a slight bump for being in the current Flying Bundle, but it still has a long way to go to be recognized by Valve, which is kind of funny because I already have a game on Steam.

Congrats to any devs here who made it through! :D

I'm still hoping to one day see BasketBelle and The Sea Will Claim Everything get greenlit. I actually own both games, I bought them more than a year ago, but still haven't played either (I have a big backlog + I was waiting for a steam release to play them).

I didn't know you were on GAF, love all your games :) I think I mention Before That Was Yesterday around this place once every two months XD Hope to see BasketBelle be on Steam too, loved it.

Ah, thanks. I've been lurking here for a while, mostly to check in on HOT TOPICS without the fluff found in major games blogs. This is probably the most active forum that talks about my games (mostly thanks to you?), only second to the official Steam discussion page. I'm also prepping a new game mode for Soundodger+ based on the feedback I've read here, so hopefully some people who were turned off can come back and enjoy themselves. ETA: Cupid Time

So, noticed that Arcadecraft is back on Greenlight after being removed last year:

Wonder what made them change their mind? In any case, I hope it makes it this time.

Well, when they removed it, that was when GL was still only accepting 10 games per month. At that rate, they figured that it wasn't likely to be Greenlit for a very long time. They mainly wanted to work on another game, and they also needed to design a replacement for Xbox Live's Avatars. Fast-forward to today, and Greenlight is now accepting 50 or more games each month, so spots aren't as rare and you don't have to worry as much about getting caught in rankings purgatory.

The dev posted in this thread back when AC was up the first time, and they made a blog post detailing the PC release and the reasons behind pulling it off of GL:

It cracked a sales barrier that allowed it to get made. So we took some money that the Xbox 360 version generated and put it toward finishing the PC game. Next build will be available this time next week. The Greenlight numbers on it are a little grim at the moment but hopefully that changes if it can get press visibility.

Put our first game on Greenlight!

I'm an editor at a video games site but want to see the other side of the industry, so I designed the poster for the game.

Niko: Through the dream®" is a minimalist adventure accompanying Niko in her return to her world. We will travel through different islands, each of them being the oniric representation of an important event of her past. Happiness, solitude or fear melted with hidden riddles, you will face up dangers and traps and, with Niko, you will confront them with determination, ability and logic.

Playability intends to be direct and varied. Each island has a setting and mechanic of its own. Puzzles, riddles, platforms, stealth and exploration are the ingredients of the adventure. Prepare to start a journey which you’ll never know what hides ahead. A journey whose paths must be wisely chosen.

Challenges you must face are based on different colors, shapes and sounds. Sometimes you can notice how game mechanics intertwined, being necessary to pay full attention if you want to advance in Niko’s journey.

Music will evolve along with Niko, from happy and vivid melodies to sad and dark ones, the same way as the journey does. Music and sounds are key elements to stimulate both imagination and mood of the player. Don’t just play, feel the adventure as yours.

The narrative develops as symbols and little tales deep within the scenario. We must explore it by ourselves to discover every detail of this fascinating adventure, fathoming the mysteries of Niko’s tale.

"Niko: Through the dream®", a place where reality and fiction fusion to show our true soul. Dare to dream.

I dig the style shown in the video and screenshots. Also, some nice, relaxing music in the video. It seems pretty interesting. Got my yes quite easily.

Anyone here post about Gang Beasts yet?

Download the alpha here
Gang Beasts is a Local Multiplayer Co-op Party Game with puppetlike character animations and brutal mêlée fighting referencing scenes from classic arcade Beat 'em ups such as Capcom's Final Fight series, Sega's Streets of Rage, Konami's Crime Fighters, and Technōs' Double Dragon and Renegade titles.

Even in its extremely early playable alpha, the game is one of the most fun and funniest I've played in a while. RPS was right when they said "every fight turns into a desperate action sequence." Gang Beasts is pushing and prodding your opponent into an industrial grinder. It's having a four-way brawl atop speeding trucks. It's punching your opponent in the face while both of you dangle from a window washing platform. What's more, those exciting fights are incredibly simple to control - keys for movement, for punching and grabbing - and your cute colorful brawlers all have physics-based animations that add some satisfying yet oddly hilarious brutality to every fight.

And that's only the 0.0.1 alpha. Reading through the developer's IndieDB and Greenlight pages, they have even greater ambitions. A shopping mall with glass elevators to fight on top of. A hotel/casino featuring a bar for a good old-fashioned bar brawl. A construction site with destructible walls and floors to smash through. An amusement park with a Ferris wheel and roller coaster to fight on. Levels ranging from fights in the middle of freeway traffic to fights on top of a train. A single player mode with levels and bosses. Various moves like headbutts, elbows, and evasive dodges. It sounds incredibly promising and the alpha is a clear evidence that Boneloaf is well on their way to achieving those goals.

Okay, seriously, Crawl was added yesterday! It hasn't even been 12 hours yet. Can a game really get the necessary amount of votes needed to reach the top 50 in that amount of time?
