Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is releasing soon, who else is getting it?

actually it's bad developer = skepticism

and when it comes to bad developers handling franchises like DMC, Ninja Gaiden, Strider, etc., the skepticism is perfectly justified.

Ehh, fair enough. Skepticism is justified, but I can't stand people immediately dismissing a game's quality because of the dev

Have you seen the gameplay vids? I think I would rather play Ninja Gaiden 3. If Spark Unlimited are going to prove themselves, I don't think this will be the one to do it.

I've been following the game since it's been announced, because the art direction appealed to me a lot yet at the same time my expectations for it were along the lines of 'as long as this is better than NG3, I'll play it.' I've already decided I'm not buying a Hayashi-directed NG title for a long ass time. But since he really doesn't have any involvement in this, and the game is actually being headed by someone 'competent' (Inafune) , then maybe it'll be...something.

idk maybe im tired of being pessimistic regarding action games lol

Dude Comcept, Keiji Inafune, you don't like them?
The gameplay I saw didn't seem bad *shrugs*

I found out about it's existence just yesterday.
And I don't think that nowadays that's a game a lot of people will buy near to its release.

2 is an incomplete broken mess. If the first is a 9, the sequel is a 6 or a 7 (at a push). What worked was great, but the game had a lot of problems that bring the score down. It's most definitely not a 9 or anything close to it.

What level could you get past?

One section of one level having framerate and slowdown issues and higher difficulties being unbalanced (but beatable) does not make a game "a broken mess".

A properly balanced Ninja gaiden 2 would easily have been the Second best Action game of the generation, in fact some may argue it could of been the best.

Just because it was objectively the opposite of Ninja gaiden black (based on offense to blacks defence) does not make it a lesser game.

It's coming out at the worst possible time with so many strong releases around it. I'll give it a go when it's £17.99 in the usual two month price drop over here.

There seems to be alot of double standards going on where this game is being termed dull with wonky combat but people are looking forward to the new Infamous which looks conceptually much worse than this and even more static.

Let's see, a Ninja GAIDEN spin-off, coming after a terrible NG 3 and a less than terrible NG 3:RE, and developed by none other than the mighty Spark Unlimited and Team Ninjadog?

I'd be surprised if this shit isn't 20 bucks 2 weeks after release.

Keiji Inafune is working on it, it has music by Grant Kirkhope too. Also Yaiba is voiced by the same VA as Raiden from MGR.

It's always fun to look at the gamertag of people who say things like this :^)

Kenji Inafune has never made an action game of even DmC cailber much less Ninja gaiden.

The only soundtrack a ninja gaiden needs is the sweet sound of chaining UTs.

Who gives a fuck about the voice acting?

Looks like dumb fun, I'll probably pick it up cheap. It's just a spinoff, that maybe came at a sensitive time for the franchise but whatever since I have no hope for a possible NG4 being any good lol

You write that as if Keiji Inafune being involved with a game means anything. It really doesn't.
He had the luxury of having very talented people working under him for almost his entire career, but that's about it.

It's always fun to look at the gamertag of people who say things like this :^)

He's not really wrong though. NG II is incomplete and NG II is not properly balanced.
Now, granted the combat system is God-like, but the game doesn't have anywhere near the polish it needed to be what its potential would suggest.

Want to see reviews before I consider anything. I think this could either end up being a nice breathe of fresh air or terrible.

Im not one to say "You have to 100% a game before you criticise it, but when you haven't even beaten mentor mode, you have no real understanding of why the game is designed the way it is.

And to call it "broken" when you haven't even touched the higher difficulties? Dude......

Unbalanced and broken are two different things.

The only thing broken about NG2 is you can not beat it doing a no hurt run, something I very much doubt this dude would even attempt.

Inafune said that the character is more important than the combat system

This right here is exactly why I have no interest in a action game he is involved in. I dont give a shit about a character if it comes at the expense of the combat.

Inafune said that the character is more important than the combat system & I'm far from impressed with what I've seen of both. Combining that with the Unreal 3 engine & Spark Unlimited tells me not to have faith that this game will be good.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Complete Edition comes out the week after so I can get my "Mindless Hack & Slash" action there.

I'm gonna wait for a USA release, wait for reviews, and depending upon reviews possibly wait for a Black/Sigma version. Hopefully one of those ends up being kind of OK.

Would love to see a true sequel to Ninja Gaiden Black IMO.

This is probably the most humane way of killing off a series, quick and painless.

DOA and NG are the only things they have going in the West, NG 3 was only the beginning of the nightmare.

Hayashit, for all his hamburgers metaphors, has no idea how to cook sushi. Not to mention that most of the staff that created the legendary NG and NG BLACK is gone, so even if he did have a clue on how to cook the sushi, his team is nowhere near up to par to OG Team Ninja.

Except Keiji Inafune isn't making a Ninja Gaiden game; he's making an action game.
Despite being a MonHun clone, Soul Sacrifice would count as an action game.
For that matter, he also worked on Onimusha 1-4.

Who gives a fuck about the voice acting?

Well in this case, Yaiba and Raiden share the same voice actor, so it'd be if Raiden dressed like a Hobo Ninja out for Revengeance on Ryu Hyabusa.

This right here is exactly why I have no interest in a action game he is involved in. I dont give a shit about a character if it comes at the expense of the combat.

...but how do you know that's the case? While I've only seen 2 trailers, it didn't really put much focus on the character of Yaiba and even then there's really not much to his character .

Looks like dumb fun, I'll probably pick it up cheap. It's just a spinoff, that maybe came at a sensitive time for the franchise but whatever since I have no hope for a possible NG4 being any good lol

I'd toss in the 'no fun allowed.jpeg' but it would seem trite atm.
...but it just seems like the naysayers don't want fun looking games to exist @_@

I hope this is a sign that Tecmo is looking to port more PC games. See: Ninja Gaiden Black.

Not exactly leading with their best foot forward.

When you get Guilty Gear Xrd on your system, and by default the voice acting is set to English, will you switch to Japanese or keep it at English?

Never in a million years will I care about the voice acting in a fighting game. Whatever is default is fine.

I don't trust Inafune after the DmC fiasco. Its really that simple really.

We don't want "fun looking" games, we want "fun playing" games. Having Ninja gaiden turned into another janky unreal title is not my idea of fun.

Well it looks like it'd be fun to play to me.

I'll be honest, I was considering it regardless of its tragic-ness. But it has rap bg music. Nothing against it, but I'll feel like I'm playing some licensed EA game which is a huge turn off for me. So rap helped me dodge a bullet :D

I think the game looks pretty fun, I won't be picking it up at release because I'm not that hyped but it looks ultra fun and I really don't get what the problem is.

It's not even like DmC, this is a straight up spin off, so of course it's going to be different. Besides I love games that don't take themselves seriously...come on "suck a fuck" I chuckled.

That being said I am not a very big fan of the aesthetic and that's the only thing keeping me eeehhh.

NG3:RE was superior to Sigma 2

I'll probably get it. I'm a real sucker for campy games...
Same here. This looks like it'll be that times infinity, and I'm pretty easy to please as far as combat goes.

Price has to be good before I take the plunge, though. A $50-$60 game this is not.

Inafune burned a lot of good will with me when he bagan to champion outsourcing. He is partially responsible for why Capcom is what it is now.

This compounded with 30fps and Spark Unlimited makes me feel tepid. I don't even know if it's 30fps solid, or with drops.

I'll wait for impressions,
sub-$20 too

The game has a lot of problems, though. Honestly, it suffers greatly from being rushed. It was glitchy, buggy and unbalanced. The game needed more time in the oven.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't give the game a 9 for anything outside of the combat. Literally everything was a step back from Ninja Gaiden Black except the core combat... and even that's really a matter of taste.

Isn't it developed by the guys who did the last lost planet? so honestly my expectations weren't high after seeing the first trailer, knowing it's by the guys who brought us Legendary; lowers my expectations even further.

PS3/360 is $60 actually, Steam will be somewhere between $40-60 I suspect.

I'll grab it, but on PC at a discounted price. Not steam sale level drops, but if I can grab it for $30-$40, cool.

Whoa, I thought this would be a $15 game akin to Gunslinger or Blood Dragon.

Outsourcing can be a good thing though. I doubt he meant giving their franchises to the lowest bidders.

Well, at least on the bright side maybe someone will be able to mod it into Ninja Gaiden Black in a total conversion on PC?

Or fix the problems it has like they did Donte Must Cry: DmC (but that went from flaming trash to mediocre).

The marketing for the game has been awful and turned me off to it completely.

Then they kinda made me interested by showing more gameplay.

Then they showed the story parts and characters and I was super turned off again.

It will probably be a fun to play game but the "humor" just does not do it for me.
