Bet that PR will be titan fall stats based on titan drops hours played since launch and some weird stat that can get them to say billions
There is also a little bit of "dominant PS2 era" vibe coming from them, and fixing old/PS3 problems with the PS4.
But games like COD sold far better on the 360 last gen. Being the most powerful console at the lower price is a huge reason the PS4 is starting to reverse that, especially in the US and UK.

I'm not sure why you think that anyway. It sold a million copies in 9 days. I'd say Sony and Sucker Punch is ecstatic with that. And it should have great legs as a go to game for new console owners.
If they dropped it to another hundred less id still wait and save for a ps4. Im not loaded and I much prefer the exclusives in general and want the best too.
But I'm thinking from the average persons view and they see the price and its a decent deal. Amazon bestsellers also suggest at this moment its very popular.
What reaction would there be if somehow they got the xbox titan fall bundle to $399 in the us? Same as the Ps4 standalone console.

Do also not forget the amazing years PS3 and thus Sony as a brand had critically, during 2011, 2012 and most of all 2013. In relation to their competition they were on a roll and people have a long built confidence in that brand.
Or event: "we've sold the double of our competitors while not even being able to meet the demand". You can still get PS4 only from scalpers in DE, I've just seen Saturn advertising sales of PS3 (!!!) it's that sold out...
Highly unlikely they'll drop prices at the rate they're selling. Take a look at Ars' data on the topic:
Aligning the price drops to each console's launch year splits the market into two groups of almost identical size. On one side are the consoles that dropped anywhere from 20 to 50 percent in price within just one calendar year of their launch. These tend to be systems that performed particularly badly out of the gate that used steep price reductions as a last-ditch effort at relevance, from the Atari 7800 and 3DO to the 32X and Dreamcast. While some relatively successful systems saw steep price drops in their first year, including the original PlayStation, most systems that were in it for the long haul don't drop to below 80 percent of their original price (in real money terms) until two or three years after launch (or sometimes more) tanking in the market.
There are outliers to these trends and historical data isn't always a perfect indicator for business decisions. I still can't see what would drive Sony to lower prices on a console that's selling so well as is.
It's NPD day... I hope Microsoft gives us WW numbers today too.

For PS1 they had a clear simple message, made a straightforward non-gimmicky piece of hardware, and bent over backwards to make life easy for developers.

The 2014 one yes and it should. The titanfall bundle with price cut was quite recent.
When infamous was released the ps4 was higher but its dropped off in the current bestsellers list days ago.
Was only thinking with all this that if I was Sony id want to cut out this mini revival and make ps4 even more appealing here. E3 uk price cut maybe or there own digital download cheaper version or something.

If I take the stock situation in all of my local shops as indicator, then I'd say Microsoft shipped at least 7 million consoles too.
It was due to it not doing so well in the UK, looking at the sales there, about (less than) half of Titanfall launch numbers in it's first week, and -67% on the second week and loosing number 1 spot in third week. I dunno, maybe I shouldn't read too much into UK's sales numbers.

Yea MS aren't going to come out and say: we have sold 4 - 4.5 million (I made this number up) when Sony has just disclosed sold 7 million. It would be so hard for MS to bring this out in the open light.
They are going to play the NPD card. It's their moment to shine. even if they lost NPD they would say, it's a neck on neck race (tortoise, hare bullshit) and how Xbox is unprecedented in sales for the brand.
I should have made it clearer. When I said for the year, I meant every single charted month, including March and so far for April. Looking at hourly sales is useless to make any wider commentary. We even had a funny thread here at one point because Ouya was outselling X1 on the hourly charts. Does that mean X1 should react to Ouya by dropping its price?

I don't think it matters. The PS4 already comes with free games with PS+ and Free to play games with no subscriptions. So for the cost conscious the PS4 is still the better deal.
Not everyone is into MP run and gun shooters so Titanfall does not appeal to everyone. There will always be people who look at price but not value and those who are brand loyal regardless.
Before the shit storm of last year anything could have happened but now people have had a year to see how things played out and do their research.
People buying their systems today know what they are getting for their $$$
We may see some game bundeling with skinned consoles later this year with the PS4 but I doubt we see a price drop, especially with sales numbers like this and who could blame them.
Yeah I just don't see MS ever releasing hard numbers unless they win a month, then they may release the month's numbers, or overtake a territory like the US, then you will get that territory's number. Otherwise, they likely aren't going to willingly give the public numbers that are millions below the competition.
No way there are circa 3m sitting in stores. They just wouldn't take them in.
You don't keep buying stock of something you can't sell.

I don't know that it would make a huge difference honestly.
If they could get Halo 5 done (and not a bad rush job) by and pack than in a $399 bundle that could jump sales a lot.
I'm not sure Sony could counter that really, unless Uncharted 4 was also ready. Stuff like The Order looks great, but isn't a huge established franchise like Halo.
But probably unlikely to happen since we've seen nothing of Halo 5 really, so it's probably a fall 2015 game, Uncharted 4 likely as well.

Xbox one might sell a few for a week or 2 thanks to titanfall, but not made much of a dent in 2014 so far for UK

Wasn't PS4 widely unavailable for most of Europe this whole year up until recently, though? At least not as readily available as Xbone.
Edit: and where do you see Xbone best seller? Per link above: Titanfall for Xbone is #1, PS4 is #4, and the first Xbone console is the Titanfall bundle at #63
A joke obviously. Mario Kart will chart on the individual SKU list. Will it raise Wii U sales out of mediocrity? That's the real question. As for NPD today, I'm going to stick by my original assessment in the prediction thread of PS4 squeaking out a win, but the more I think of it, the more I feel like this was kind of Sony's way to get into the news before NPD numbers dropped. I known they did this for Feb. and still won, but I'm not to certain that's the case this time. Would make for one crazy evening on GAF if it did though.
He is talking about daily bestsellers. PS4 might have not been in stock or people rather went for the Infamous bundle.
Anyway XB1 including a game same price as PS4 without one, it is hard to top that.

but even that's unlikely to be a long term problem for Sony IMO since most studios/publishers will have decided to use PS4 to lead console/project development and go for Sony exclusive vs MS exclusive

Yeah ive checked myself before. Infamous was a big game and kept ps4 above for a while but its dropped quite a bit and yes only currently for the last week the xbox has been above the ps4 and not just by a bit now its 2nd vs 11th.
Titanhype seems to have legs and is a systemseller somewhat. Are there any big games for ps in the next month or two?
But the point was at this point the price is better ie a ps4 or an xbox one with its biggest game in a very xbox friendly market and the current charts on there are showing this. The ouya was some daily promotion or something wasn't it? If I was sony id want at least a digital version of infamous and a ps4 for same or less than titanfall as its a very price conscious market.
