Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

They're significantly different from the originals. Considering we have form changes like Shaymin and Megas like Kangaskhan, I wouldn't say that you can judge if it's a mega or a form based on how different it looks.

Significatly? Eh, no. At least not Kyogre. It just looks glowy.

Either, I figure we'll find out at E3 what the dealio is anyway.

They are full-remakes of the Game Boy Advance “Pokémon Ruby” and “Pokémon Sapphire” games

So remakes, not sequels.

I will stick with my bet, but i'm not admitting defeat until we see the game for real. If the player character is different then its probably a sequel. I feel like they will do clothes again and I just feel like they won't give clothes change abilities to may and weird hat boy.

I think some of you are vastly overestimating the importance Gamefreak puts on the official Pokemon canon. They'll just retcon megas into these games just like FRLG and HGSS had added and changed content, it's not a big deal.

I'm assuming the game will change up a bunch of story events to some extent. Like how HGSS added all those events with the kimono girls
Unless they're changing when the games are set, Mega Stones won't be invented for years and years.

It's actually pretty different when you compare side by side. Even if it's not... Kangaskhan.

Hopefully not. I hated that. I loved how GSC had the option to go confront the ubers, but you never had to. Was cool and special to discover them on your own. In HGSS they tried making it more like the other Pokemon games and requiring you to fight them, and it lost its specialness in doing so.

I agree that they don't see to care about the timeline and canon to a large extent, but they pretty much said that megas have only been discovered in kalos right? It just seems like a werid retcon to make. lol heres some megas kid. da faq is a mega? shhhhhhhhh no questions. Only megas now.

First off, I think it's dumb to think of the pokemon timeline as some concrete thing with the exception of direct sequels. And second, mega evolutions were a thing that existed in the pokemon timeline before x and y existed. It's pretty clear from x and y that they existed for a long, long time. It's just that the ability and means to use it were really rare so it wasn't well studied. It's ridiculous to assume mega evos won't be in the game at all

Because it needs to keep compatibility with X/Y
Yeah. I could see Lati@s as a bonus or something maybe, but outside of that...

I'm sorry you feel that way, but there's definitely a timeline lol. And you think so? There weren't any Megas in any of the other regions before XY, what makes you think they'd been around for a while?

I think they mostly just said that to explain why Kalos Pokemon don't have Megas. Which irks me because Unova Pokemon got swept under the rug and didn't get any either :(.

Because it needs to keep compatibility with X/Y

Just like Platinum didn't add any forms, or BW2 didn't add any forms. At least this time they can release a patch so XY players can see the new forms and Megas they're fighting (although I doubt they'd be able to use them).

I don't see how that's related. I mean you seem to dislike one specific change that isn't even relevant to this version

Look closely. Mega fo sho.

I doubt this is a new form. New forms seem kinda redundant now when you can just mega evolve them for a design change.

got dayum. I just noticed this. Its in the name as well.

OMEGA RUBY-------MEGA lol

The fact that they say it had in that tower where it's first introduced? And you honestly think they care that much about the timeline? Please explain why no one aged for B2/W2 PWT then

So I guess Mega Latios and Latias are not DLC for X and Y.

Great news, I know a bunch of people asking for this. I just hope its not just a remake and add new elements and story, like a mini sequel to Ruby and sapphire or something.

The only new Mega Pokemon I want in the game are Mega Sceptile and Swampert, along with the leaked Mega Lati@s forms. I don't think the new cover art for Groudon and Kyogre are new mega forms, they don't seem all that different to me. If they are mega forms then they're by far the ones with the least amount of change, even moreso than Venusaur :p

It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
Check the fingers and tail.

Because it was only two years lol. That's literally the worst example you could have picked.

You sure you wanna stick with a bet when the horse's mouth already spoke? I think its safe to take Nintendo's word for it.

OMEGA RUBY-------MEGA lol
You do realize that mega evolutions are form changes as well, right? And do realize they don't have to use mega evolutions as the only way to change forms in the future, right? Mega evolutions and different forms are completely interchangeable.

The characters in PWT haven't been seen in more than two years though. It's not said how long BW took place after DPPt, but considering a Rocket grunt has started a family since then, it's implied it's been a while. Yet everyone (including Red, who's at most 15 in HGSS) hasn't aged one bit.

The mechanics of form changes are significantly different from those of mega evolutions.

TBH, HG/SS had way better boxarts. I'm not even making this a gen vs. gen thing, their boxarts were just more interesting.

Mega Evolutions are not form changes. You have to have magic rocks and the power of friendship and they revert back after battle. They are interchangeable I agree. It just seems to me like they would do them less now that they have megas.

Groudon has black spikes on the sides of its tail while Kyogre has different tail fins.

Edit: Most of Groudon's spikes are black now.

He got quite the subtle changes, the lining is no longer red, the design on his hands are full right now instead of an outline, got new lines on the forehead and lost the frills on the site.

Not a new form because is almost identical. Totally a Mega.

but how will you be able to battle between XY and ORAS with new mega evolution exclusive to ORAS, XY would have to be patched and that is not possible because it has never been a requeriment

I would say something, but the picture right above your post shows all their differences pretty clearly.

Post is referring to HGSS and RSE cast.
Yep. If they cared about the timeline, they shouldn't look so identical, especially when not all of the Black and white returnees had the exact same design

Oh yea, they don't have the form change from the start. Other than that, there is no real differentiating factor.

EDIT: Mega Evolution limitation I guess is another one.
