Awww, that sucks. No new Megas then I guess.
That's not clear. I'm pretty sure they can make a few more evolutions or megas to spice it up.

They're significantly different from the originals. Considering we have form changes like Shaymin and Megas like Kangaskhan, I wouldn't say that you can judge if it's a mega or a form based on how different it looks.
They are full-remakes of the Game Boy Advance Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire games
So remakes, not sequels.
I'm assuming the game will change up a bunch of story events to some extent. Like how HGSS added all those events with the kimono girlsAwww, that sucks. No new Megas then I guess.
Unless they're changing when the games are set, Mega Stones won't be invented for years and years.I'm assuming the game will change up a bunch of story events to some extent. Like how HGSS added all those events with the kimono girls
It's actually pretty different when you compare side by side. Even if it's not... Kangaskhan.Significatly? Eh, no. At least not Kyogre. It just looks glowy.
Either, I figure we'll find out at E3 what the dealio is anyway.

I think some of you are vastly overestimating the importance Gamefreak puts on the official Pokemon canon. They'll just retcon megas into these games just like FRLG and HGSS had added and changed content, it's not a big deal.
How does them being remakes mean no new megas?
New evolutions were added in HGSS to the Johto Dex.
First off, I think it's dumb to think of the pokemon timeline as some concrete thing with the exception of direct sequels. And second, mega evolutions were a thing that existed in the pokemon timeline before x and y existed. It's pretty clear from x and y that they existed for a long, long time. It's just that the ability and means to use it were really rare so it wasn't well studied. It's ridiculous to assume mega evos won't be in the game at allUnless they're changing when the games are set, Mega Stones won't be invented for years and years.

Yeah. I could see Lati@s as a bonus or something maybe, but outside of that...Because it needs to keep compatibility with X/Y
I'm sorry you feel that way, but there's definitely a timeline lol. And you think so? There weren't any Megas in any of the other regions before XY, what makes you think they'd been around for a while?First off, I think it's dumb to think of the pokemon timeline as some concrete thing with the exception of direct sequels. Rotom other forms. Giratina origin form. Black and white kyuremBecause it needs to keep compatibility with X/Y
I agree that they don't see to care about the timeline and canon to a large extent, but they pretty much said that megas have only been discovered in kalos right? It just seems like a werid retcon to make. lol heres some megas kid. da faq is a mega? shhhhhhhhh no questions. Only megas now.
Because it needs to keep compatibility with X/Y
I don't see how that's related. I mean you seem to dislike one specific change that isn't even relevant to this versionHopefully not. I hated that. I loved how GSC had the option to go confront the ubers, but you never had to. Was cool and special to discover them on your own. In HGSS they tried making it more like the other Pokemon games and requiring you to fight them, and it lost its specialness in doing so.
... Which wasn't compatible with the older versions. You couldn't trade the key items that made them change forms, you can trade mega stones.Rotom other forms. Giratina origin form. Black and white kyurem
Check out the facial markings and transparent fins.Significatly? Eh, no. At least not Kyogre. It just looks glowy.

The fact that they say it had in that tower where it's first introduced? And you honestly think they care that much about the timeline? Please explain why no one aged for B2/W2 PWT thenYeah. I could see Lati@s as a bonus or something maybe, but outside of that...

It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
Check the fingers and tail.It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
Because it was only two years lol. That's literally the worst example you could have picked. The fact that they say it had in that tower where it's first introduced? And you honestly think they care that much about the timeline? Please explain why no one aged for B2/W2 PWT then
I will stick with my bet, but i'm not admitting defeat until we see the game for real. If the player character is different then its probably a sequel. I feel like they will do clothes again and I just feel like they won't give clothes change abilities to may and weird hat boy.
2 years after B/W which is supposedly years after hg/ss which is years after ruby and sapphireCheck the fingers and tail.
Because it was only two years lol. That's literally the worst example you could have picked.
You do realize that mega evolutions are form changes as well, right? And do realize they don't have to use mega evolutions as the only way to change forms in the future, right? Mega evolutions and different forms are completely interchangeable.Look closely. Mega fo sho.
I doubt this is a new form. New forms seem kinda redundant now when you can just mega evolve them for a design change.
got dayum. I just noticed this. Its in the name as well.
OMEGA RUBY-------MEGA lol
Check the fingers and tail.

The mechanics of form changes are significantly different from those of mega evolutions. You do realize that mega evolutions are form changes as well, right? Groudon has black spikes on the sides of its tail while Kyogre has different tail fins.
Edit: Most of Groudon's spikes are black now.
I would say something, but the picture right above your post shows all their differences pretty clearly. It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
Post is referring to HGSS and RSE cast.Because it was only two years lol. That's literally the worst example you could have picked.
That pretty much describes every Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution supposed to look the same with minor differences. It looks identical. The only major difference is the glowy lines
There are set mechanics to form changes? The only difference is that Mega Evolutions are a kind of standardized form change and that you're limited to one mega evo per battleThe mechanics of form changes are significantly different from those of mega evolutions.
Yep. If they cared about the timeline, they shouldn't look so identical, especially when not all of the Black and white returnees had the exact same designI would say something, but the picture right above your post shows all their differences pretty clearly.

Oh yea, they don't have the form change from the start. Other than that, there is no real differentiating factor. The mechanics of form changes are significantly different from those of mega evolutions.
You sure you wanna stick with a bet when the horse's mouth already spoke? I think its safe to take Nintendo's word for it.
.
Groudon also has all its black/blue lines replaced by yellow lava. That's quite a dramatic difference.Groudon's tail looks slightly angled, and I will concede that there are a few other lines on it's belly.
That said, it looks identical to me. *shrug*
