Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

There are two PS4 games that don't run at 1080p. Two. BF4 and this. Everything else is 1080p. It's the de facto standard resolution on the console. Infamous is 1080p, and looks much better than this. So while you're right that the PS4 cannot be expected to match a much more expensive PC, there's nothing odd about expecting 1080p. The PS4 has been shown again and again to be fully capable of it, so when a game fails to achieve that it's perfectly reasonable to ask why the hell that is.

There's certainly nothing wrong expecting 1080p and 60fps from a cross-gen game that has suffered various downgrades.

Infamous is a action beatem up .. Not nearly as complicated as other open world games.

It's not a good benchmark.

Ugh... I hope not.

Second Son was a disappointment as an infamous fan.

Sure your pretty graphics are nice, but with lackluster content, mission design, characters and story you have a forgettable game.

The decision was always PC

Haha I love how everyone is making a big deal out of this. How about playing games for the gameplay and the fun? You know, like everyone else does and how its always been before this generation

don't worry, 95% of people literally do not care about resolution or frame rate.

Took me awhile to really come to terms with it... but we walk among on the garden of the 5%.

The 5% makes a lot more noise and tries to convince itself that things like this will have a big impact on things like sales, but ultimately it has more of a big impact on things like thread posts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not diminishing the value of a group that spends like 80% of an industry's revenue, but some games are more resistant than others to trends in that 5%. Like, for example, we can hate Battlefield 4 for server issues... Battleifeld 4 ends up being a massive seller with a decent tail. Blockbusters may not need as much support here, but Neogaf can make or break a lot of smaller or bubble games.

Cross-gen development fucking games over again it seems. How is it that Sucker Punch figured this problem out already - while looking 1000x more impressive I might add- and Ubisoft can't even get 1080p?

SMFH.

Even though I have a PC that will crush this game on max, I wanted to get this on PS4 :(

It is because Sucker Punch doesn't half-@$$ their games and optimize the system they develop for. Heck, GTAV will probably be smoother than Watch Dogs.

It confuses me how 900p can make someone miss out of the game. You probably can't even tell the difference on a TV.

It depends on the TV. I can *easily* tell something isn't 1080p native on my 60" ST60 (8ft viewing distance). AC4 on release was very obvious and there was a large jump in crispness and clarity when it was patched to 1080p. You could easily see the blurriness pre-patch too, it wasn't something that you only noticed afterwards. Rendering a game at a display's native resolution is a pretty big deal.

I won't *not* buy Watch Dogs because of this, but I will certainly notice the lack of clarity and the extra blur and it will detract from the game like it detracted from AC4 on release.

If we'd known this from the beginning it'd be a different story. Reading that it was going to be 60 fps got me pumped. I don't mind playing games at 30, but getting to play great looking games at 60 fps since the PS4 launch has spoiled me I guess. For me, it isn't a factor in the game being good or bad, but it does pour a little bit of cold water on the excitement.

Whats anyones opinion on his reasoning for it being an open world,MP integration, Lots of stuff going on answer for it being 900p/30? As he is somewhat correct, Corrider shooters are going to be easier to reach 1080p/60 as there's less going on. Then again wasn't Infamous SS 1080P locked 30?

This game really cant catch a break, I feel it's all gone backwards for them since they wowed us with the original reveal. I'll still pick it up regardless as not alot else new to play yet.

Holy shit... I cannot believe this.

And that statement... "They're just numbers." Wow. I'm definitely contemplated going and canceling my pre-order right now. I've been on the fence, but figured it would be a solid visual showcase for next gen open world (Yeah I know, downgrades and whatnot but even still), but if this is the case, honestly I'm not sure why I'm picking it up because I'm sure as hell not set on gameplay.

Seriously, what the hell happened to this game?

So you were basically buying the game for the graphics? I can't imagine how crap and boring it must be basing a game purchase on graphics.

Oh my god! It won't run at 1080p!! 900p games suck! It will ruin the experience!! My eagle eyes can't take anything less than 1080p! What about the DDR 5???

Seriously if you care so much about resolution get a PC and play at 4K and 60fps

First go -yes, you- and cancel all consoles. If they can't produce better graphics there's no use.

792. What kind of resolution is that. They should have just stuck to 720 and admitted their failure. At least it would run a bit smoother.

Same resolution as Titanfall.

Seems as though MS are asking developers to aim above 720p so as not be to be "just another 720p game" on XB1.

The coffin nails are being firmly driven home regarding any interest I had in one of these supposed next-gen consoles.

They just don't seem up to snuff.

Isn't this game running on a new engine? I guess even on PC it's going to be another unoptimized CPU-bound mess like FC3 and AC4. *sigh*

With all the weird resolutions maybe MS made it mandatory that the games be higher than 720 so devs just increase it by a bit to get it above 720?

It's bullshit. They just can't bare to have a game run at 720p on their next gen hardware.

Was expecting 1080p but I'm not shocked given the scope of the game. It still looks great.

Also, someone needs to compile every story and reactions since the reveal. This has been one hell of a rollercoaster.

Wow that unexpected... guess this might be a sign of things to come with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But I guess Watch Dogs could get patched up to 1080p, as that would be the exact same situation as Black Flag.

There's certainly nothing wrong expecting 1080p and 60fps from a cross-gen game that has suffered various downgrades.

if it was 900p with a very smooth, no-slowdown 60fps i'd be okay. if it was 1080p with a locked 30fps i'd be okay. but this is just embarrassing.

WD so far has been the most unimpressive game of this gen to me, the graphics just never blew me away, it looks "ok", like most Ubisoft games. If I had a pre-order, I would cancel it. inFamous is 1080p, open world and that game looks "next gen".
