Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

This is VERY disappointing for me because I was really looking forward of the game and its original concept. Now this news just tells me to buy Wii and Wii U (I skipped the Wii's generation) games since i just bought a Wii U.

That's kinda disappointing. Sure, the game doesn't get worse because of that, but it leaves a bit of a bad taste in your mouth.

hoping that it's solid ass locked 30 fps at least. And for a day 1 resolution boost patch.

But seriously, we're so early into this new gen, i understand the dissapointment, but it wasnt all roses etc when the 360/PS3 first came out, if the transition from one gen to another is that hard i beleive them. Give them time.

Still gonna get the PS4 version. Ubi games on PC are fucking terrible and going by the system reqs on this, I don't trust them one bit.

People saying they won't buy it because of the resolution drop should look into buying a PC because the graphics hardware in these consoles were old news before they even launched. I'm thinking there will be an increase in multiplat games on consoles running these resolutions and that PC is just gonna blow consoles away earlier in this gen than in any other.

Haha, GAF meltdown expected. So people are actually canceling their pre-orders on PS4 because of that? Jesus Christ.

i'm canceling my remaining interest in the game, never had a pre-order

Watch Dogs has always had to show and prove, since the reveal.

that being said, it'll still sell well.

Cross-gen development fucking games over again it seems. How is it that Sucker Punch figured this problem out already - while looking 1000x more impressive I might add- and Ubisoft can't even get 1080p?

SMFH.

Even though I have a PC that will crush this game on max, I wanted to get this on PS4 :(

Oh... I dunno.

Maybe because they had 1-2 years extra since they got the PS4 kits earlier than third parties, they are exclusive and Sony so its in their best interest to get kits first.

Hell, the creative director of watch dogs even said they didn't even get the PS4 specs until after the reveal.

what they showed at the PS4 reveal was PC FOOTAGE

There are two PS4 games that don't run at 1080p. Two. BF4 and this. Everything else is 1080p. It's the de facto standard resolution on the console. Infamous is 1080p, and looks much better than this. So while you're right that the PS4 cannot be expected to match a much more expensive PC, there's nothing odd about expecting 1080p. The PS4 has been shown again and again to be fully capable of it, so when a game fails to achieve that it's perfectly reasonable to ask why the hell that is.

Exactly. If anything it's time for people to not underestimate what's in it.

Anyway, I hope we'll find they've succeeded with their goals of systemic gameplay, player expression, reactive gameworld and other such things. That it's more than a well-produced, broad and entertaining, but formulaic and shallow product of Ubisoft's assembly line.

It'll probably be a bit of both.
One thing that's been made clear though is that the story's gonna be silly rubbish, which is a shame, unless it's also funny. Would've preferred if it was more serious and believable.

This basically tells me that I'm going to be spending the first few hours on the PC version of this game tweaking the shit out of in-game and out-of-game settings just to get it running at a stable rate.

Just as I've had to do for damn near every other Ubisoft game.
Ubisoft being Ubisoft, I guess.

Pretty disappointing. Still getting it day one, but if anyone still needed yet more proof that this project was troubled for years here it is.

Sure there's a number of good excuses if you're interested - new IP, cross gen, unfortunate timing for new hardware and so on but bottom line after a half-year delay not managing 1080p is a bad look for the team and puts it in uniquely bad company.

Yeah I'm a bit blown away by this as well line of thinking as well.

1080p is great and all but when did it get to the point where if a game is 900p, 792p, 720p or whatever the case may be, then it automatically becomes a non-purchase? It just seems like such a weird stance to take.

I mean, if that's what the priority is for people than so be it I guess. Resolution will always be a secondary factor for me.

Secondary to what? No one told them to go over budget with shiny and not deliver 1080p/60, unless they'd been cpu bound on gameplay affecting parts of the game.

If this game came out a year ago then it would probably sell better. Now with delays and downgrades I doubt it does well. As for me, I won't be getting it :)

Some of the knee jerk reactions in this thread are fucking hilarious.

792p though, god damn. :lol

Lol @ having to wait another gen to get 1080p gaming on consoles. I don't even know who to blame really. Crazy disappointment this generation.

Why are you acting like such a hyperbolic clown? Last time I checked there was just a couple of games on PS4 that weren't 1080p. Hell, inFamous Second Son which is considered the best-looking console game runs at native 1080p with great framerate.

Cancel the generation!

Imagine what multi platform games will be like in a few years when it requires a ~10tf PC to max it out. PS4 versions will be 720p, Xbox One 480i. LMFAO!

Save us Lord Gaben!

I don't know what to think. The game was running on 1080p in every demonstration so far.

I guess this could be the same case as AC4 ... release at 900p on PS4 so the reviews will tell consumers that both consoles have the same quality ... a week later release a patch to restore the 1080p on PS4.

I bet this is M$ money at work.

What was the point of delaying the game six months if they couldn't even make it 1080p?
I don't know maybe they worked on something else that makes up a game. I just can't think of what makes a game off the top of my head. Oh right: Frame rate.

So which side is right:

- Ubisoft developers not able to output a good looking game at 1080p on PS4

OR

- PS4 not being able to output a Ubisoft good looking game at 1080p

Sorry but people who are cancelling their pre-orders over a resolution are just down right weird, graphics are not everything.

WTF?! Ubi, c'est vrai?!

Intent to
Pre-order canceled!

IF, and that's a big IF, there is a post-launch patch for PS4 that somehow magically increases it's resolution, I'll lose my shit. I'll never buy another Ubi product if that's the case, because then we will all know what's really going on.
