Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

I am still on 3.01 using 101 exploit. But now I want to load some games from Psn onto vita. I thought you could do this by connecting to ps3 but it is asking me to update.

Is there any way to get games onto my old firmware vita without losing the exploit? And I don't have a second vita.

You should be able to get around the update check on PS3. Use Content Manager to connect to the PC (you probably already have OpenCMA, right?). Then unplug the cable and plug it into the PS3, it should skip the firmware check and drop you straight into the transfer options.

I do have OpenCMA. Great, I will give that a try, thanks!

Can the same memory card be used on two psv with different firmwares?

I'm thinking about getting a slim and using my OLED Vita as my PSP 2.0 machine, but I don't want to get a new memory card if I don't need to.

Neogaf I need your help! :(

I've spent days without solving this problem.

To make long story short

I cannot copy any PSP/VITA/MINIS game from PS3 (with lastest 4.55 FW) to PS Vita (2.60 FW, so not the last one of course) Asap the transfer ends, I get this error

Errore_Vita.jpg

The story so far

I want to explain better what I did and where I failed.

I've used this list to choose the game Arcade Darts.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14112558/Stuff13/VitaExploitChart.png
The game seems available for EU and US, supports firmware "2.60 and below" and it is available on PSN for a few bucks.

Tests were made with 2 different PS3s and using 2 different accounts (EUR PSN, not US)

Test made with FW 2.11
======================

1. On PS3, using my account, I've bought and downloaded the exploit game Arcade Darts
2. I left it as "bubble" on the XBM
3. On PC, I've installed Open CMA and launched CMA
4. On PS Vita, using the same account, I turned on "Airplane mode" and rebooted the system, then I've connected it to PC
5. I've launched Content Manager.
6. When PC and Vita were connected, I removed Vita (leaving the USB cable plugged in the port that's on the Vita), an error was shown (and I left it on screen)
7. I plugged it to my PS3 and tried to move the game from PS3 to PS Vita
8. The transfer started but then I got this error.

FAIL :(

I've decided to update my firmware from 2.11 to 2.60

Test made with FW 2.60
======================

Using the same game I did all the steps shown above. Nothing changed.
I got the same error message when transferring from PS3 to PS Vita.

Test made with different PS Vita
=========================

I got a Vita from a friend and tried the same steps using his Vita (and his account, so I bought Arcade Darts with his account too). Nothing changed.
I got the same error message when transferring from PS3 to PS Vita.

Test made with different PS3s
=======================

I've thought the problem could be my PS3. I got a PS3 from a friend and I've used his account to try again. Nothing changed.
I got the same error message when transferring from PS3 to PS Vita.

Test made with different games
=========================

I tried to transfer other games bought from PSN (Vagrant Story PSX, Luftrausers PS Vita) and I got the same error over and over again. So I don't think that error is related to the game I try to transfer from PS3 to PS Vita.

My 2 cents theory

That issue seems to be related to the fact that the systems are not "active".

Sony Support Forum Thread "E-80558325 help!? not activating my ps vita"

Since my PS3 is updated I can go to my profile and active my system.
Sadly I cannot do the same on Ps Vita because I can't go online with 2.60 FW. And if I want to go online and activate the Ps Vita, I have to update to latest 3.15 FW, loosing the opportunity to use the exploit.

I tried everything.
I really cannot think about a way I've not tried yet

Just got an email from Wololo.net talking about a new ninja release. This is the header that adorns their forums (if you have the right access, I believe):
Ninja Release: developer 173210's VHBL release for Vita firmware 3.15 is around the corner. Details can be found >>>here<<<. The exploit is believed to be non patchable by Sony.
As usual, please do not share this information publicly, and do not discuss it on the forums! Leaks hurt the entire community.
I won't link it or mention the name, but figured it was important to post anyway because of the bolded.

Oh, and it's JP only, so it's not like most of you are missing out anyway :)

My Vita's PSN is not Japanese, so I can't take advantage of this new exploit. However, I wouldn't be able to run TN-V on it anyways because this is just for Half Bite Loader, correct?

Brand new to the vita hack thing. Do any of these exploits get around the entire region locking thing? Really fed up having my PSone games on the US store with everything else on the UK one.

This sucks.

All these posters claiming this to be "good for emulating", yeah sure....

As if there were not another 100 devices that can do that already.

I watch this thread intently. As someone who has a legit UMD of PSP2 but no longer has a PSP, and a Vita at 3.15+... I would kill to be able to play my precious Phantasy Star again :(

It sounds like a lot of people are against this, I guess because a lot of people blame piracy for the PSP doing badly.

But I wonder if that's really the case. I know that piracy isn't allowed or supported here. But I think it's okay to say that I've read that piracy actually tend to lead to more sales by making most people want to spend more money and buy more. And I think I've read studies that pirates tend to buy more and play more games, or watch movies and listen to music. While people who don't pirate, on average tend to watch less movies and play less games and things like that, as so they also don't buy very much.

I'm sure that isn't everyone. And that many people who pirate do so to avoid buying. But I have heard that there are lots of studies that pirates buy more. And that a lot of people pirate things that they've already bought. Because it's a more convenient way to download something, or because the thing they own doesn't have downloads.

Anyway, that's just what I've heard, I'm not trying to promote piracy, so please, um, go easy on me. If I'm not supposed to say things like this, I'm sorry.

But it makes kind of wonder about the PSP, and why it didn't do well. I wonder if it was really because of piracy. Because some of the studies I've read make it seem like it's not. Maybe it was just that the PSP had a really hard time against the Nintendo DS?

So a plugin is coming for Vita that would enable sound on PS1 games.

http://wololo.net/2014/06/10/total_...or-custom-converted-ps1-games-on-the-ps-vita/

Now I feel sad for giving up the hack!
Ditto. Got tired playing around with emus after a while and since no PSX sounds I found myself not giving a damn and just upgrading the damn thing. Used the Kings of Pool hack. I guess this gives me the reason to wait until the next hack and see if I can get another Vita for cheap somewhere.

Damn, sound on PS1 games?

Been a while since I've kept up to date with exploits and such... I assume there's nothing good available for the current f/w?

It's been a while, but how are PSX Dual Shock games from the PSN store handled on Vita? Do they have access to both analog sticks or only the left (aka it's in PSP mode rather than Vita mode)?

Since TN-V is a PSP eCFW, I'm sure the PSX emu will be like it is on there. I'm simply curious if they improved PSX game control options normally on Vita or not.

Don't have any games that use the right stick but I'm pretty sure the Vita emulator fully supports both analogue sticks. In digital mode you can bind buttons to both sticks whereas in analogue mode you can't bind to either.

Now we just need a Micro SD to Vita memory card adapter and I'd never use my PSP again.

Won't happen, a Vita memory card is just about the same size as a Micro SD card (I also have a feeling that Sony is using a proprietary file system as well).

Sony designed the Vita wholly around preventing all of the things that were used to hack the PSP,

The PSP had a removable battery, the Vita doesn't
The PSP used standard memory cards, the Vita doesn't
You can access the PSP's file system via Windows, you can't on the Vita.

It would be awesome if external HDD or just USB thumb stick memory support for the Vita/PS TV could be a thing through CFW. Not looking forward to dealing with Sony's BS prices for that stuff.

There would have to be a CFW for the Vita in the first place. All the current hacks are just PSP exploits that work to break the PSP mode and they don't touch the Vita side (and I'm perfectly OK with that).

Wololo's site says that TN-V 9 will be released within the next 48 hours and that it's not the only CFW that's going to be released this week. I assume that means the Ark team is releasing their new CFW and there should be a new kernel exploit released with it.

I hope not. I hope that they wait until the PS TV launches. A PS TV with the kernel exploit would be amazing

I'd say the odds are pretty good of getting a new kernel exploit soon. The ARK team said that if they were satisfied with their testing and released their CFW, they would release a 3.15 kernel exploit for it and in Total Noob's video for TN-V 9, he specifically shows that he was running it on 3.15. If anyone has an account at Wololo's forum and wants a kernel exploit, they need to start watching for a ninja release.

Damn, I must not miss the game before it's pulled this time. Last time I made it to the store page and it gave me errors before I could buy it.

It's out

Changelog:
* Added Pete's PEOPS SPU plugin which emulates PS1 sound.
* Added 'PEOPS SPU configuration' to recovery menu.
* Added option to show Vita FW in 'System Information'.
* Added and fixed some internal things.
* Unlocked 12MB extra memory in every FW for internal use.
* Removed in-XMB FTP feature, because it was overbugged.
This fixes internet radio incompatibility.
A better FTP port will be added in the next revision.

You can upgrade either via system update in TN or download the files from the thread above.

PS1 sound support is really shaky (it's the first release though. Some games are hanging (my Lunar crashed and forced me to power my Vita off). I got to the Richter\Dracula fight in SOTN without any problems.

Yeah, I tried King's Field and I got excited when I heard music...but it froze on the title screen. So this will be good next version I guess. I just want to play my Policenauts translation on Vita finally...

Too bad at the removal of FTP, but glad it's returning later.

Strange regarding that some games run fine when purchased from PSN (Chrono Cross, Persona 2) have issues with this FW.

Do the PSN PS1 games not use the PSP emulator to run?

New game has been announced!! But I don't expect much talk about it here:
Availability and important notes >
The game is not available in US, JP, Canada as far as we know. It is available in Europe, Australia
WOOHOO!

Can anybody pm the name of the game?

The game will be publicly revealed in the next few hours, so you can just wait and be ready to buy it.

Should be possible.

I've got a question myself, too:
If I have the persona 2 exploit working fine on my vita, is it safe to update?

OFW 3.15 breaks compatibility with the P2 exploit.

Also, on top of that, the P2 exploit running on 3.01 is able to run eCFW (emulate PSP games), while the exploit to be revealed in a few hours only works with VHBL, so it doesn't support PSP games.

I say you should get the game once it is publicly announced and then wait until full compatibility with eCFW is announced.

If you only want VHBL though, you should go for it.

Yesterday I realised that my Vita firmware was at 3.15 and I bought Space Invaders Extreme a while back, y'know, to actually play it!

So after a bit of fiddling last night I got the VHBL to work but it was coming up with a "no homebrew found" error, so I used 138Menu instead which worked fine.

I tried Snes9xTYL 4.2 but it was slooow (about 19fps), I then tried to install Metal Slug X (I used PSX2PSP on my .iso, then Vita Homebrew Preparer) but it froze 138Menu.

Is this par for the course with Vita/PSP homebrew or am I doing something wrong? If so, I might not bother. :(
