It was a nice scene but I don't think they were actually gay. I still need to catch up though. And I think it's cool that Sakura Trick is actually a thing, even if it isn't my thing.

Everyone in the show is bi. It actually has a very plausible reason.
How is saying there aren't many openly gay anime character on TV obtuse?
I think there's a plot point in the show that
the character will relieve their sexual desires unrelated to their sexual preferences due to...stress or something? I don't exactly remember.
They are encouraged to get in samesex relationships, but that doesen't change that they are. Even if they later swing the other way, the feeling of love is genuie, they won't just get together with anybody.

I personally think that anime are more open to the topic of LGBT, than western shows. In any case far more than cartoons.

C) So was it like an AoT situation where they had limited time so they had to throw a zillion animators at a job to get it done in time? Granted the show is much longer so by default more animators will work on it.

I thought this show on the other hand got it right
- The bit with the luggage was awkward. I gotta say though the Jojo crew are an imposing bunch. Polnareff looked like he towered over that Security guard. Man also has no tact, poor girl
- "Soul Sacrifice" didn't sound like a name that made sense nor did it match up with what people were saying but reading the other thread I guess it was one of those potential copyright issues
- Your friend just told you he was attacked. Why the hell are the lot of your waiting around in a room for a meeting instead of rushing to Polnareff's room :/
- This Polnareff vs. SS fight is hype. Great use of music and animation
- Polnareff can be rather sharp between the final stroke of this battle and when he first noticed SS. Makes it weird that he wrote off the doll. Thing is WAY TOO CREEPY to be normal.
- Pretty interested in seeing where this Kakoyin plot thread goes......

Yeah, but at teenager age they are encouraged to get into same-sex relationship to prevent early pregnancy, so they can finish their education. Childbirth and childs themselves can be very distressing and that is something the village certainly don't want with those powers.
Yeah, ok, it wasn't a good example. Should've choose better.
But generally gays and transgender are displayed pretty positive in anime. They are often weird and over-the-top draggy, but they are most of the time on the good side and usually nice and helpful.

Great episode. I'm really glad that they are reinvesting in this show. If the animation levels were still back at PB or BT levels I think it would have hurt this season more than it did the last season.

In some respects, you definitely get some amazing shows like Wandering Son. But you still get the "Man in Drag" characters a lot and I feel like that really wouldn't fly as much on western television, or would at least get a lot of backlash. Even my favourite anime comedy, Gintama is extremely guilty of it.

In all honesty though, JoJo as a franchise has never been rooted to extremely heterosexual roots, ESPECIALLY after the art style shift early in part 4.
Compare early part 4 Josuke to later (but still early) part 4 Josuke:
The character designs, especially shown off by GioGio and Diavolo, grew more and more flamboyant as the series has gone on, too.
Fuck, LOOK at Josuke Higashitaka from JoJolion. Motherfucker is a fashion model wearing a mid-riff showing sailor suit.
Araki is fabulous and I love it.

I'm excited to see how they handle the style change for part 4's anime. Part 4 is also going to make the best anime, seeing how it's practically built to be one. All dem slice of life moments and shit.
Yoshinari described Imaishi's directing style as skanky and perverted while he aspires to be a gentleman.
Still things to see on that front ! :lol
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
Jin-Roh was one of those anime that I had always felt guilty not having seen. It seemed like a rather well-received film when I would glance conversation of it. Not to mention it has Mamoru Oshii behind it. Not knowing much about the story itself, I was quite excited to sit down and spend some time in this film's world, but I found myself a little disappointed. Were my expectations too high or did this movie simply fall short?
Great review. Jin-Roh has been on my "to do" list for a long time as well. Should finally get on that.

JoJo is so aesthetically pleasing and the whole FABULOUS aspect of it comes off as tasteful and interesting rather than stereotypical and offensive. I love it.

Hannibal S2 certainly started on a high note and certainly felt far more cohesive in its overall tone compared the the first season up until about 2/3 of the way through when it went off the rails and up its own ass. Fortunately the season finale was so batshit off the walls it more than made up for it. Doubly so for Fargo ep 6 which tied up the increasing insanity of Malvo's sadistic plot quite fantastically whilst still really pushing the suspension of disbelief to its limits and finally introducing the real power players involved in this.
