'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

I feel like Sony's going to pull a Sega Saturn with this game, mostly because I want this to be what they give away during the E3 movie theater event.

I doubt this deal is still on track for a summer release.

Why not? We haven't received any updates on it at all since the announcement, and half of ND staff is working on an already finished game.

What indicates to you that something has changed?

If anything, they are probably going to do a surprise launch at E3 and begin the marketing campaign that day. Probably making a nice looking trailer for it to make up for a couple delayed games.

Debatable. ..the opening is the high point.

Eh, the opening is great but it is significantly less complex in terms of gameplay, emotional resonance, and character ideology than the drama that happens as you progress further through the game. It's an amazingly tense tone setter that is really well acted and presented, but it relies more on shock plotting to generate emotion than any of the well written character conflicts that highlight later emotional high points of the game.

Not when you have a daughter of your own.

I am not dismissing the other parts of the game the story is great all around.

Really hope it's got the same weather / atmosphere / swaying tree / fog upgrades that Tomb Raider had. Naughty Dog is the most technically-capable team working, so I don't see how they wouldn't. Or is it too much to hope for beyond 60FPS/1080?

A big local chain is showing an August 12th shipping date. Release dates are usually the same as the American dates or very near to them.

I guess you personally could connect to the opening more, but in terms of storytelling and writing I think the game builds on itself and gets stronger as it goes along.

I don't think so unfortunately. Druckmann said in interviews he didn't really want to maketo many changes

I don't really mind if this comes out late summer...no matter what I do it seems like my backlog never shrinks...

I hate being an adult and working full-time -_-
