E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

There is so many aspects of inspiration of other strategy games in this. Battlion Wars, Valkyria Chronicles, XCOM, FE/AW, and then the Freedom Force aesthetic. I'm hyped.

Okay yeah, officially past my creepy threshold. Dead joke now.

ehh looks better in motion, but still not a fan of the whole art style/aesthetics of the game, and i'm not really in the mood for this kinda game right now on 3DS (though that could change by the time of its release, who knows) :/

That knee jerk reaction was ridiculous last night, everyone enjoying their crow?

Still not sold on the graphics. I don't know if that's intentional for the art style, but the models look unfinished. It's not enough to stop me from buying the game, but it's still noticeable.

You have no soul. My favorite games of the past few years have been strategy games. I could live my life with only Intelligent Systems and Firaxis games.

You get some good Paper Mario that way too.

And I'm including Sticker Star, because I'm really enjoying it right now.

OMG, you're really doing a disservice of using such a bad picture of her. She's really pretty but this looks like one of those pictures when you take a person off-guard.

I know. :(
The camera is usually so far away though, and this was one of the only frames I found where she was sorta smiling.

It's slated for 2015, I'm sure they'll be cleaning and touching it up quite a bit. It's not perfect, but the massive gross reaction last night was hysterical.

Okay they outright said "overwatch attack", out of curiosity is overwatch a common trope/mechanic in SRPGs or is it normally more related to XCOM?

Game looks cool but I'm not one for strategy games.

Me either, but the crazy thing is, they seem to have been completely right about what they said during the round table last night. Maybe it is the overhead view that kills it for me, but drop down into third person view and let the player do things in real time makes this look really appealing!

It's interesting that you can actually pick up stuff and then double back to move somewhere else without losing those items you picked up.

The presentation is so slow - play and explain on the fly, don't over explain and translate and then do something...

The game also looks a bit mushy - it's a style choice, but it's not one I'm overly fond of. Reminds me of a third person Freedom Force. The gameplay itself looks nice though.

Also the music is barely coming through with the whole background noise, it's exhausting listening to it and the presentation this way.

So you gain steam back by moving back to where you were but you can still pick up items while you are moving even if you don't commit?

Where is the risk in moving then?

Cant i always move to the edge of my range in all directions and then collect items and them commit to the place i want to move.
