SiriumXM DJ Anthony Cumia, co-host of long-running radio program The Opie and Anthony Show, launched into an extended racist tirade on Twitter after claiming to be assaulted by a woman in Times Square Tuesday.

Cumia said he was trying to take pictures of the area when the woman got angry for being caught in his frame.

The 53-year-old host said the woman objected to being in the photos and started punching him. He said after calling her a name she punched him repeatedly, and was then harassed by “5 blacks.”

He then took to Twitter to tell his story and rail against “animals” who “prey on white people”

Wow. This guy seems like a vile piece of shit. Can't understand how people would listen to his radio show.
 
If he had just been attacked he was probably upset, but of course he should have known better than to take to Twitter with it.

That's kinda his entire schtick OP and now that Patrice is dead nobody can check his racist ass on the show. My god, if Patrice were alive we'd have some epic radio right here but sadly he's gone and Anthony can just rail against "the blacks" all day long.

Its been difficult to listen to Anthony talk about race for a while now. He's really gone off the deep end during Obama's second term. Unfortunately, this probably isn't even some of the worst shit hes said. His Twitter feed is a mine field of shit that would get most people fired.
 
God damn, you can't misinterpret that. What a piece of shit. Is this the guy that says crap all the time? How is he even still employed?
 
What the hell was he trying to take a picture of? She was basically the subject of the photo he took.

The only people "shocked" at this are people who have never listened to O&A. He's said much worse. Also don't expect an apology, Anthony lives for this shit.

Internet radio. No one cares. He HAS (they have) been fired from like 4 radio stations. Most famously for reporting that the mayor of Boston had died, which is why he's barred from* (you can still get his show here if you want) in the state of Massachusetts.

No one will call him out on it because this is what he's known for. It's like getting mad at Howard Stern for the way he talks to women on his show, it's part of the persona.

Newsflash, some people just don't want you taking their picture and will act poorly when you press the issue. See that story about the 16 year old Ballerina in Times Square taking photos for her portfolio who was harassed by a random photographer also taking pictures, which resulted in said photographer getting into a fight with her dad.
 
I love how the dude has a picture of a white woman in a tight dress from behind as the center of the fucking frame and he wants to pretend he wasn't out snapping pictures of women. He'd never be caught dead thinking a black woman was attractive!
 
He was once a really funny guy that wasn't consumed by his hatred, but he totally deserves whatever he gets out of this. This isn't some isolated incident, he has hours of audio that makes this look tame.
 
Not condoning this guy's tirade, but when you are out in public you have no reasonable expectation of privacy. Your photo may be taken. This does not give you the right to assault someone.

This reminds me of the recent incident where a kid was playing with his quadcopter at the beach and a girl attacked him thinking he was photographing women in their swimsuits.
 
Yeah the dude's story doesn't add up, I don't believe him for a second, who's to say the girl didn't escape the situation though, either way he's still a racist can't who needs to stfu.
 
The way these guys think, it's not being racist unless you call them a nigger. And even then you can just deflect and say that black people do it, too.

Well, the fact that he has a concealed carry permit and was carrying and did not shoot her for assaulting him makes this a fine story to refute people saying if you have a gun you will automatically escalate the situation to a shooting.

While true, you can't expect that everyone is just going to be okay with it, especially if you're acting like a dick, see that google glass woman who was being super annoying all night, even after people respectfully asked her to stop filming them. You should use common decency if someone clearly doesn't want to be recorded and all you're doing is trying to film some random back alley.

But that's not what he was doing. That woman was on the charge in the photo so if that's the one picture he took of her, he had her lined up in his frame for a minute.
 
Anthony is a racist. And not in a "says racist things when angry because that's somehow still ok" way, but in a "has certain prejudices about black people because they're black and for no other reason" way. This has been known forever.

I only ever listen to Opie and Anthony when they have Louis CK on, and that's mainly just for the back-and-forth between Louis and Jimmy Norton.
