He admitted that a lot of it was just shtick. But even then, his relationship was very hard to grasp. They were open swingers after all. Yeah, but I have to wonder which of us is being the respectful one right now:
--The person who finds Patrice to have fucking idiotic opinions, but takes him at his word when he's trying to give his real views on social issues and have a serious moment.
--Or the guy who thinks "HAHAHA Patrice is a comedian! Nothing that comes out of his mouth is real or worthy of being found to have enough merit to be considered, ever!"
It matters because every thing that follows that sentence could be applied to any piece of comedy ever. What you think is clever, highbrow humor could be considered immature stupidity by others. I think if you had enough confidence in what you like that this wouldn't be the case, you'd have just told me.
And to be frank, your description of their show is wildly inaccurate, but that makes sense since you said you haven't listened in a decade. Personally, I wouldn't feel qualified to pass judgement on something I've been away from for 10 years. There's almost nothing "shock jock" about O&A anymore; it's mostly news talk, celebrity interviews and commenting on random internet videos. It's been that way for quite a while now, mostly because of age and the restrictions of their latest studio.
As for calling both O&A "racist assholes", I would like you to find me one example of Opie being blatantly racist. Throwing around unwarranted accusations of racism is really disgusting behavior.
No I should have phrased it better, it is funny a lot of the time but whenever politics or race issues come up it really is hard to listen to. Whenever they have comedians on like patrice (RIP) or louis on it is good stuff.

Wouldn't be surprised if Sirius sat down and came to the conclusion his story sounded bullshit. It's one thing to do business with a (blatant or otherwise) racist because they're profitable, but when someone starts making up crazy sounding stories and generally seems unstable, it's time to get out because something far more serious will happen.

I always hated Anthony after this show where he was talking about this porn star he started jerking it to. I think it was Tawnee Stone or something. He kept raving about how she didn't look 18 and how awesome it was. Opie didn't say much but you could tell he was like wtf man. He came off like a total pedo lol. Coincidentally I stopped listening to them after that.

Yeah, considering their contract is almost done, Sirius just said fuck it and ditched him, my guess Opie will follow suit and likely it'll just be the Jim Norton show. They've been saying their distrust to Sirius for awhile now so likely, this is the straw.

Anyway, I became more of a Ron and Fez fan years back. I suggest everyone check them out. Ron Bennington is an incredible interview and the show has become more comedian focused this year as they moved to Raw Dog. The guest overlap is pretty big now. Fez unfortunately is still unstable and mostly silent but the rest of crew is very funny.

O&A were pissed about Sirius helping pay for Howard's birthday party while O&A wanted their studio to be redone. They spent almost the entire show talking shit to Sirius.
Surprised they actually fired him. It was a long time coming but thought because of the money they were bringing in they wouldn't do it. Glad that wasn't the case and they had enough. There were reasons why then XM Radio was their only option. When they were on normal radio some of this crap while still there wasn't as bad as it was once they went to satellite radio I think. It got turned to full blast once that happen. It's why I couldn't stand the show after that. Now he's gone and screw that up and I couldn't be happier. I doubt Opie will continue the show himself unless he and Norton do it together and it becomes the Opie and Jim/Norton show. Then again the two of them aren't much better. Norton was only good when he had O'Neil to play off and check him. I never cared for him outside of that.

I think the one where I even said "wow, how can he not be fired?" was when he went on a huge rant during the George Zimmerman trial in response to a black caller. (The guy calls every once in a while) I'll see if I can find it. This is actually the only time where it didn't feel like shtick and felt too real.

Late thursday night? Careful consideration? Those two things don't add up. Seems like they didn't give it a second thought. But they've made it obvious that management did not care much for the show. They were looking for a reason to get rid of them and found a good one.
