Fighting Games Weekly | July 7-13 | EVO 2014: Putting Q in more games than Capcom

Are there a lot of GAFfers attending Evo? I'll be one of the photographers this year ... would be cool to wrangle everyone for a group shot.

So for the streams we have:

http://twitch.tv/srkevo1
http://twitch.tv/srkevo2
http://twitch.tv/capcomfighters
http://twitch.tv/madcatz (Madcatz Stage show and side tournaments)
http://twitch.tv/nycfurby (Team Pie SS)
http://twitch.tv/jyosua (Guilty Gear side tournament and anything anime related)
http://www.twitch.tv/arkadeum (Tournament of Legends 2, X-Mania and V-Sav)
http://twitch.tv/vgbootcamp (i don't think anything is announced yet but I'm sure they will have Smash stream at EVO)

One more to add if the 4g connection can handle it:

http://www.twitch.tv/thebrett (EXVS Full Boost side tournament)

Is Tokido really better at Kof than Mexico and Korea' s finest?

He's much better now but I wouldn't say his chances are especially high to win because there are so many killers in the tournament and all are very, very close in skill.

Its really hard to tell who will take it tbh.

Oh. Well now my entire weekend is set, haha.

I like how the Evo staff are trying to justify screwing over BlazBlue.
Saying this is the best time for the Japanese to watch.
1 to 3 AM on Monday morning is clearly better than 3 to 5.

I thought it had to do with flights or something?

Wizard said in the last thread, I believe, they set the schedule months in advance and it kind of got locked in due to various things with companies. It wasn't until after that they found out the final player numbers and the massive pot bonus.

The explanation of catering to developer's flight schedules is pretty questionable. This isn't a matter of switching a game's final to a different day. It's switching order on Sunday. A mere 2 hour difference.

I'm not going to complain about BB at 9AM as long as nobody turns the TV off during Grand Finals. Weird it's not after KI but I won't complain.

No streamed pool play is kinda lame though. Actually the entire schedule for Saturday baffles me. KOF, Injustice, and ST finals before UMvC3 quarters/semis? I know people love Marvel but that just seems like weird scheduling. I guess the times just line up better for the venue or something? I'll keep my eyes out for somebody streaming pool play but I won't hold my breath.

Announcement before and after Marvel 3 finals...

BELIEVE IN ME WHO BELIEVES IN YOU!!!!!!!

this is my exact same sentiment. how probable is it that the arc sys dev team has a fllight scheduled at the same time as ki finals?

Aw fuck, BBCP pools still fucked. Seems like Spark, Wuku, and Huey253 have to play each other fairly early on depending on how it goes to even qualify for Top 16. That's really ass as they're they've done really well in BB at Evo and they're basically the best from my region. >=|

It's always a bit peculiar to not see many in-depth but basic guides for a game like MVC3. That game really needs a Vesper Arcade like mega tutorial series. I would honestly try to make one myself if I had time for it (plus the recording equipment and console/game etc).

So many things are taken for granted in that game because of its legacy from MVC2. People just assume that newcomers know how/when to call assists, do basic air combos (or even launch properly) and know how to construct a playable team.

The point is that it was scheduled months before they had entrant numbers, etc. Everything people are using as ammo for why BB should be going afterwards. The difference in time is irrelevant too, as they probably have meetings/interviews scheduled as well.

BBCP had less entrants than KI?

Yo, Shouta/Beef/Vulva/Q, we should get something going for a big group on Sunday to watch finals together if you're all up for it.

Also, got a confirmation, so my room will be open for USF4/UMvC3 casuals with you guys.

It's a shame the strategy guide is out of print. I'm one of the few UK owners of it. It's exactly what a newcomer needs to get started.

Useless as in it was a lot "I would like to make that" without actually making confirmations on anything.

EITHER PUT UP OR SHUT UP SON!!!!

Even the strategy guide isn't enough. There is only so much you can teach in a book, you need like hours of videos to just cover the basics of stuff.

Like you can't teach someone how to block or avoid standard "call beam assist, teleport" mix up from a book. You have to show it in a video, slow it down if you have to and show various alternatives to said mix up/escapes. People still don't know which direction to tech in which situations (although not as much of a weakness to have in MVC3 due to TODs but there are still situations where you can make things worse for yourself if you tech improperly).

No streamed pool play, but instead streamed quarters is definitely ok.
Besides Pops and Grandia and Lord Knight and Shouta
actualy KOG
, we're not really missing any exciting matches.

Plus, overall, it gets more stream time than any of the other smaller games.

You need someone to practice with to actually learn how to block it in a real-life match though.

If you're picking up UMvC3 this late into the game's lifespan, given that the online play is near unplayable I'd hope you actually have people you can play with locally.

shouta is too cool to hang out with the gaf scrubs.

But remember smedwicks, can't say it enough, make sure you throw those shields

More like getting in da favor of the JPs so I can practice with them in August. >=)

If anyone remembered from a while back I posted that stick pcb lag chart;

http://forums.shoryuken.com/discuss...arcade-stick-input-lag-testing-results-thread
http://teyah.net/sticklag/overview.html

He does a much better job explaining his methodology than my previous explanation that butchered it.

Coopa pls!

Coopa isn't going apparently. He has school, I believe?
