DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Ha! Sony once again fooling people with their shitty graphics. First Uncharted 4, now Driveclub, and soon Bloodborne at Gamescom. If Nintendo and MS can push therracing games at 60FPS, why not Sony? All smoke and mirrors.

How old are you? Because if you're older than 13 you should take a serious look in the mirror and ask yourself why you say stupid shit that makes you sound like an idiot.

Its hard to tell with the resolution/compression in the video. Especially with how small the rearview is. I thought I saw rain, but its too hard to see whether it is actually there. As you said, if its not there, it should be in the final version.

Yeah I tried scrolling back and forth to see any rainfall, it seemed the roads reflected the headlights, but that's about it. I'm sure they'll have it eventually, would be too incongruous otherwise.

normally not that into racing games (sim racing games especially) but the ridiculous visuals and multiplayer aspects make me more likely to buy this.
The best part is that for casual racing fans or even non-racing fans, you don't have to buy it. Just having PS+ gets you pretty much the whole game minus the complete roster of tracks and cars, which is good enough to mess around with.

The weather just looks incredible. I didn't know it was possible to make this game look even better.

Like someone said, if you take away the HUD and show this to someone, they would never think it was a game.

This needs to be their advertisement.

All you hear is the engine roar and see 10 seconds of this and then in a calm, British voice you hear: "this is not real life. This is not CGI. This is actual gameplay. This is Driveclub"

No music. Just a narrator, the roar of the engine, and that exact gif panning out to reveal the HUD.

"Create your own Club. [cut to gameplay on new track] Compete with friends against Rival Clubs [cut to online gameplay] Own the road, and earn your club fame [cut to social interface/clubs all around the world]. Driveclub. Exclusively on PS4"

That's it. Sounds perfect imo.

This game needs a no hud option. This looks too good.

Looks like you hooked one!

Yeah, but unfortunately, he literally hooked just one. BAD ROI ;)

It has it :)

This is literally the only fault, and I noticed it when they showed gameplay with puddles at E3. Literally no splashes. I don't know how long it would take to individually create splash effects on each puddle, but I assume it would take a whole lot of work.

I think the 'puddles' you are referring to at E3 weren't puddles. That was black ice on the Norway track.

Is it me or do the tire effect seem not to take the wet pavement into account? Even the wet gravel sounds dry when it ran over.

Is it just me, or is it both raining AND snowing in this one?

It's astonishing how different the two kinds of rain are. This definitely looks like sleet, but I could be mistaken.

I wonder how wide the variation will be. Keeping in mind the time of day + the level of precipitation (which I assume we can control, seeing as they are aiming for roaring thunder and lightning to light up the roads) + geography (snow, rain)... it seems there's going to be an incredible diversity to the tracks.

I assume the first clip isn't even the rain at its heaviest?

I mean, it's at least not nighttime, as the track would have been dark. On top of that, we've yet to see a full out snowstorm... I think I'll go on a media blackout, I want to see some of this for myself.

Well, snow and rain together is kind of the definition of sleet. I just wasn't sure if snow was mixed in the video. Sometimes a heavy rain can have a snow/ice like look to it.

Then

HOW FAST DO YOU WANNA GO

You know the game looks good when you're in awe of a compressed gif. I usually demand direct feed HQ videos whenever new driveclub media is released but these gifs are soo damn good that I'm not even complaining.

Could be our eyes deceiving us, but it kind of does to me too. That would be cool to have wintry mixes. Also would be cool if the weather changed over from rain, to sleet and then snow.

Hope so. Can we even alter the temperature so the game produces snow if we set it at 0 degrees or if we set it to 20 it would rain instead? Love to know an exact list of all the variable sliders we'll get and how many settings on each slider to adjust the weather i.e. will it be 1 - 100 or 1000?

I would have thought there might be:

Atmospheric pressure
Moisture in the air
Wind Speed
Wind direction

So if you wanted a super sunny day you'd set pressure to highest and moisture to lowest. I think I need a meteorologist here but you get the idea.

I do not know which is more deserving of praise, between the superb cars, the dense and perfectly rendered surroundings, the lighting engine and the weather effects.
This looks ridiculous...

Looks fantastic, in the possibility that devs are viewing the thread, would be great if we could

Disable the corner flags, the more realistic the visuals become, the more the red, green corner flags stick out as a video game conceit.

Yep, all that would be cool. Hopefully they'll release some more info on the weather system soon.
