I've never seen any.
Not right now. First one I found is a blue level 10 helmet. So of course can't use it.
Of course. I've found a few things that are Uncommon that I can't use because of the cap. Such a tease.

There was Int gear in the Alpha but they may have adjusted it so that Int gear is higher for the Beta. With Control being the only game type, Int gear would be insanely powerful and the game could quickly become Super spam.
Ah, that makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure if PvP is my thing or not yet, so I didn't even think of how it would be abused in The Crucible.

Do others find the enemies in Destiny to look a bit too similar?

Also, how are they different and why do I care (as a player)?

I know they're going for different races and species etc., but I have trouble really distinguishing anything other than captains and the flying robots. I was expecting a bit better art/design similar to Halo where each enemy felt distinct and was easily identifiable. Perhaps it's because I'm on PS3 right now. I'm looking forward to trying it out on XB1 soon.

Not particularly. Both races in beta seem to follow the general pattern of having weak unadorned guys who attack at close range (Dregs and Thralls), medium sized guys with fancier hats who attack at mid-range (Vandals and Acolytes), and leader-types who are taller and have even fancier hats. (Captains and Knights) Fallen also have two types of floating enemies in the form of Shanks and Servitors.

And it ends up the guy was being sarcastic :P.

You don't really go into why you think it's unbalanced. And I don't really agree with you and I'm terrible at the Crucible. :P

I played the alpha and feel it is a step back in weapon balancing than before.

1. Pulse rifles feel useless, the area effect seems reduced and hit reaction seems glitched. I used a pulse rifle exclusively in the alpha and had no issues, and now I couldn't get 1 kill with one in the first few minutes. Almost everyone who's mobile is using an auto/shotgun combo. Unless you're sniping far away, that is the only good combination. Scout rifles aren't bad, but they also seem to have been nerfed like pulse rifles.

2. If you're not using vehicles on the First Light map, you're pretty much screwed, that map can be easily dominated by a couple people good enough with the vehicles to keep control of all 3 points, vehicles can easily be pushed into inside control point locations, making it near impossible to overtake an in progress point takeover.

3. Super charge powers are simply overpowered, when a Titan can come in and clear a control point that is being taken over with one super charge, that seems so ridiculously overpowered. Compare that to the Hunter's super charged gun where you can get a couple shots off, even the supers are unbalanced between classes.

4. Spawn points can be awful, getting spawned onto a point that is being contested and then being shot up within seconds.

Its a step back from the alpha and definitely wayyy back from the Halo series.

Unimpressed.

Edit: One of my biggest issues is that the gear and weapons you use and like in the shared world that you are upgrading and enjoying, are then rendered useless in PvP. I used Pulse Rifles and Scout Rifles a lot and upgraded them because of their use, but then going into PvP they no longer feel like the reliable weapons you attached yourself to and the time.

So, considering they have 2 more games coming and a 10 year plan for Destiny
I'm assuming their current lorebook is huge and growing even bigger by the day.

For those of you worried that the story might be too shallow, give it time. The original halo took place entirely on one ringworld, by bungie standards destiny is massive in scope for a first entry in a series.

I recall either DeeJ or Urk saying that Bungie felt that Legend was still too easy in their book, so they may be retuning it. The multiple difficulties that we see in Beta seem to be a middle ground.

With the shit weapons I had, story on hard was fun and challenging. Once I got a decent rifle, though, the Strike didn't have the same allure that I remembered from the alpha. I'm glad to hear that there's potentially still more difficulties to explore.

It's not just you, it stinks IMO.

Vortex all the way, baby.

Especially for control, just lob one on a point and scatter everyone.

I also love it as a deterrent when I'm taking a point, chuck one into a narrow corridor section and it stops anyone running through while you cap. It has so many good uses

Agreed. I don't know why some people judge the story when we only played the first chunk of it, really

Thanks for expanding. You seem to have valid concerns about the Crucible.

1) I kinda like the variety in weapons, and snipers are incredibly important on the moon. And I absolutely love that you can see someone sniping you when you see their scope shine. It's saved me a bunch of times.

2) I agree about the vehicles, which is why I hate the Moon map. Although I will say I've watched dudes on twitch that still own on the Moon map. I think it may be a combination of skill and vehicles for me which are frustrating.

3) You need a way to differentiate between classes and honestly if you look at the top leaderboards, you'll see the Hunter class up there the most. I find the Golden Gun way more powerful than the Titan but I haven't had a ton of experience with the latter.

4) I've only been spawn killed once and I've played about 30 PvP matches or so, so I guess my experience is a bit different.

yeah as much as i love destiny right now, they've nailed the gameplay 100%, the dialogue from the ghost, the enemy names (wizards, the darkness, knights, the speaker, etc etc) is all just so uninspiring to me :/ i can look past the similarities between halo and this game and tbh i don't see that as a bad thing at all, i just hope though that they're holding back the story with this beta, although wouldn't you wanna showcase some cool aspects of the story for your beta? don't wanna turn people off before the game comes out :p

All this talk of Vortex grenades is getting me hot under the collar.

Nothing like a Post-Mortem triple kill when everyone waltzes back into your vortex after thinking they one-upped you by snuffing your light.

So satisfying.

Seeing that "15" tick off their name multiple times as they back into the trap unknowingly...It's glorious.

The voices in Destiny are laughable really. Really annoying, cringe worthy even.

Hire the guy from Unreal Tournament or something.

Hell yeah dude!

There's a big issue with that though, walking through a friendly grenade and an enemy grenade doesn't feel that different and I think that's why people are running blindly through them most times

Also is anyone else noticing a horrible lag in kills sometimes? Especially with melee? I've traded so many kills with people that I really shouldn't have

I can see it now:
The Traveler wants to help us, but also wants to keep us confined to the Solar System so we'll be safe from the horrors of interstellar war. Being equal parts heroic and bullheaded, we prove our worth and seek even more dangerous adventures out among the stars.

Is the CITY located on the Traveler or is it on Earth? Looks like on traveler but I've read elsewhere it's on earth.

So my final impression for Crucible is that I hate it. It is unbalanced and not very fun IMO.

I just don't like the fact that a lot of gear, events, etc. are being walled off in Crucible and feel those who don't want to play PvP will be at a disadvantage gear wise, XP, etc.

I think it would be better if PvP used different characters and such than the Co-op/shared world experience.

Not liking half the game, and that's not a good thing.

Same here, I absolutely hated PvP. Seemed like a terrible combination of everything bad about COD Ghosts and Halo 4. I'm a borderline average PvP player but I usually don't mind sucking. Here, I just don't find anything about this implementation fun.

The City is directly underneath The Traveler. Surrounding The City is The Wall which encircles The City. On The Wall is The Tower, where our vendors and such are.

I felt the same at the start but as soon as I upgraded and got better at it I started loving it. You can really kick some serious ass at times

Lol, it really is satisfying. I think I have a video from last night when a guy on a pike killed me but headed back into my grenade and kill himself.

Hell yeah dude!

Yes, sometimes people are dead when they have gone around a corner and I have been shooting at them.

Not sure about that last part. The Wall seems to be further in, and the Tower one of several on the outskirts of the city. If you look, there's no wall connecting the Tower we know from the ones you see in the distance. Or maybe it's a shield?

I wish shotguns were a primary weapon instead of a special. It'd force people in Crucible to decide whether they want to be effective at medium range or close, kind of like the Assault Rifle or DMR choice in Halo.

Now, what' does GAF think is the best bit of music in this game so far?

I'm personally torn between the sheer wonder of:

http://youtu.be/H1a-htYxLFI?t=12m30s

and the tension of:

http://youtu.be/D7E3_hWkWeA?t=26m45s

especially when that bass (?) guitar riff kicks in on the latter (why didn't they extend that?).

It's pretty good, not up there with Marty's best work.

The Hive though is one hella hype track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7E3_hWkWeA&feature=youtu.be&t=29m11s

Already miss my Badass Hunter. Managed to get up to 160 defense before the maintenance. Raishin can vouch for my awesome gear ;)

So what's the basic concept behind the handcannon? I don't understand why it's in the primary category along with the precision rifle that does the same thing but much better. Both the handcannons and precision rifles rely on skillful aiming and high impact damage. The difference is that the handcannon only has 6 shots and a much, much slower reloading time. It's also noticably worse at range.

I don't understand why they didn't just make the handcannon a powerful secondary. Slower firing rate but much higher damage and impact.

No doubt, and I'll invest more time at launch, but for now my initial impression of the PvP is that it's very disappointing. Love the PvE stuff, though...

I think scout and auto rifle are suitable replacements that decide if you will be close or mid range when you fight. The shotguns might be too strong to be a primary. I was killed in one shot from one during iron banner (unless I mis-identified the gun).

Love playing with my Titan. I haven't tried the other two classes yet. It's too much fun going on runs trying to upgrade gear.

I can't wait till this comes out. Haven't had this much fun with a game in a while.

You could be correct there but that doesn't make a ton of tactical sense. The Towers would then be under constant attacks and too far from The City if The Wall's perimeter were breached.

I guess The Towers could be Outposts built before The Wall was constructed but it would still then make more sense to include Towers on The Wall itself.

Edit: Guys, if you have huge images that you want to share, can you please put them in quotes?

Just started on the PVP last night and had about 20 games, managed to keep my head above the water...just. Not a fan of the tank, think the game would be better off without it, also not a fan of the heavy ammo drop. If I'm just starting to neutralise a point and the 10 second call out comes there's no way I can neutralise, cap and get to the other side of the map in time. I'd rather see heavy ammo dished out for playing the objectives, get 3 caps, have some heavy ammo, cap 3 more, here's more heavy ammo...etc Reward players for playing the objective, not camping a box.

I 8'd a hunter and warlock. Ready to try the Titan out when the beta comes back.

Where are you guys finding the 62 attack weapons? Buying them or getting them in drops?

Hire the guy from Unreal Tournament or something.

I like dinklage now with the modulation.

The crucible guy though....what a creep

"HAH HARRR, SHOW THEM NO MERCY"

uhhhhh, ok.. guy.

I know he's one of the greatest announcers ever but I really miss this.

I like my announcers to sound like they're commentating on future sports, not like they're some creepy dude who gets off on watching guys kill each other and gets super frustrated when his team is losing.
