As DF said, that 10% GPU shouldn't be enough to go from 900p to 1080p. So either Bungie had a bit of headroom (other than the 10% kinect reserve) in xbone but choose not to use it for anything until now, or there will be some cutbacks to visual effects in release build.
Hopefully Destiny 2 pushes for some cross-platform play.
To be honest, even though there are vast optimisations ahead, I think the PS4 will have more to give at every point of this generation. I'm more inclined to believe that if there is a 'parity' game its because the PS4 hasn't been pushed harder. Hardly a controversial opinion, PS4 hardware is significantly more powerful than Xbox One hardware, especially the GPU.
Case in point, The Order: 1886 and Uncharted 4: A thief's end. Unreleased I know, but those two games look leaps and bounds ahead of everything else announced so far, visually.
Tom Penny is just trolling to start some flame wars here.It can't catch up unless they put faster memory in the system with a better GPU.
Destiny looks good, but it doesn't look spectacular. Xbone is probably the target platform. The added 10% will probably lower the amount of optimisation necessary to hit 1080/30. As for PS4, the game probably hits around that target with less effort.
Microsoft says no.

So basically, every version of the game is roughly the same.
I think we'll be seeing more third parties scale back on PS4 versions to achieve parity.
I'd rather have lower quality assets at a higher resolution than the other way around.
Intentionally gimping the superior version isn't great news at all.
PS4 could have been 1080p/60 Bungie !
I'll have to see them in action. I remember reading the discussions of how killzone and second son killed anything Xbox had graphically but after playing both not to long ago for me they don't touch ryse.[/QUOTE]
Oh boy.

This is correct. However I don't think there is a huge problem with certain games having parity. If a developer has a goal and the XB1 is powerful enough to meet it then there is no reason it can't be the same as the PS4 version. Of course if both were pushed to their limits the PS4 would look better but this doesn't always have to be the case, especially this early on in the generation.
Probably more like 1080p/45
Still amazed with some peoples perception that the PS4 is a super high end gaming PC and the XB1 is on the level of the Wii U.
Bungie apparently unaware of what they can do with their own game, says Neogaffer.

Huh? Bungie only got the Xbox One version to reach 1080p thanks to the July update. PS4 was already running on 1080p at that time. Destiny was completed graphics wise at that point in time. They didn't gimp the PS4 version, they bumped the Xbox One version thanks to an unexpected power increase. Meaning that the Xbox One suddenly could also handle Destiny how Bungie wanted it to look.Intentionally gimping the superior version isn't great news at all.
Neogaffer: Battlefield 4 could run better. It's a broken mess!

The HUD difference is really weird, one has to wonder why.

Frankly, I don't care either way. So what if they went for parity. So what if the PS4 version doesn't have any extra filtering or anything. Destiny is fucking awesome, and I'm going to play the shit out of it no matter what.

Mind pointing me to someone who actually thinks that? Trying to downplay the obvious hardware differences with such an extreme example (that no one actually believes) is crazy man.
The fact is, the PS4 is stronger, and not in some insignificant matter. Being at full parity means that Bungie held back the PS4 version to maintain the parity. Or perhaps it means something else, but what could that be? The only way to achieve parity is by gimping one for the lowest common denominator. It's not a conspiracy theory.
Funny how some people here we're talking about how "terrible" the beta looked on the xbox one compared to ps4
Here as in gaf, go to the beta thread or the 360/one impression threadWhat people? No one said that.
So Xbone is catching up?
It was gimped from the beginning because it also has to accommodate PS3/Xbox 360.
EA themselves constantly admitted the problems.
Nothing special about them.EA are special though.
Well, after the latest IGN / Ryan "Fanboy" McCaffrey interview, it is, somehow.Isn't it official that bungie aimed for parity?
