Idiots on my twitter feed are posting that picture "out of respect". Ugh.

She should be reminded that those people are just scum. Twitter is such a public place. There's no way not to get offended. You're searching for topics close to home and away from it as well. There are cruel people in this world. I deleted my person on twitter years ago. It's also the reason why I never stayed on Facebook either. If I have to live away from someone knowing who I am than I rather it be my tag name.

I feel fucking awful for her. :(

The damage is already done, but it might help her a tiny bit if someone could get a hold of her and tell her it's fake...

If it was me, tbh it wouldn't comfort me learning that either. The damage is done. The fact that it's being put out there as truth is as bad as the act. Were it my father... :(

It's more then that pic, bunch of twitter ppl harassing
her with vile comments too...

Some people are absolutely vile. It surprises me every damn time. What exactly kind of high do you get out of being so torturous to a grieving daughter? Taking time out of your day to tear down someone who's not even part of your life...fuck me...

Somebody linked a picture to her? What the actual fuck is wrong with some people?

Who says it makes me feel better? I just said going out like that makes me lose my respect for that someone.

I apologize if it made you uncomfortable.

Get out of this thread. We don't need this toxic shit in here.

How are you guys getting someone linked her the pic? She never mentions it and doesn't seem to imply it.

She deleted it afterwards - but they were harassing her before they linked the pic, then she asked people to report them so she didn't have to actually click the link.

If you search someone's Twitter handle in terms of posts instead of users, you can see what messages people are sending to them.

edit: I guess she did mention it as well on her handle before deleting the message.

I reported them but I'm getting an automated message from Twitter that they only review cases where you are actually involved. This is so STUPID It's making me angry.

Every time I play Final Fantasy VIII I'm going to think of Robin Williams. Cid always reminded me of him and I was always happy because I loved the character. This whole thing just really sucks. :(

I don't get people can behave like this. I hate how social media had given idiots such a large platform to express themselves. I kinda wish there was a way to upvote downvote twitter accounts for example. The lower your rank, the lower you'll appear on feeds, and if it's low enough, then you can't post content anymore.

I don't either. Had a person do this on private RO server a long time ago when we thought a friend had died. This guy made me angry for the first time in a long time, I wanted to reach through the screen and punch his face in. Finally a mod showed up and IP banned him but it wasn't enough! He kept coming back until the mod decided to IP ban the entire area for a bit.

These people hit all sorts of buttons in me. You never speak ill of the dead and use that to hurt their family and friends.

As if intelligence and number of followers have a positive correlation.

So it really is suicide? Damn.

I like him as an actor and many loved him in real life, but suicide? I have no respect for a human that takes his own life.

Who says it makes me feel better? I just said going out like that makes me lose my respect for that someone.

I apologize if it made you uncomfortable.

The cold-hearted, standoffish stigma regarding suicidal tendencies and depression is an unfortunate reality that many suffering people have to deal with.

When you tell a depressed / suicidal person to "suck it up," that they "should just get help and get better already," or that "they're a lesser person," it tends to just push them deeper into despair.

As we have seen from the tragic passing of Mr. Williams, even the most beloved actor and comedian can suffer intensely. It isn't something that's easily fixable.

So please...be sensitive about the situation.

Those two that were sending Zelda the picture have had their twitter accounts suspended at least.

The brain is just an organ, things can go wrong with it like with anything else. If they do, the way your mind thinks changes too.

Depression isn't just someone being sad or weak. It's a disease.

I searched the thread and didn't see this posted, but Fresh Air is replaying an interview with Robin in 2006. It's incredibly funny and insightful, with Robin even touching on the topic of depression. When the interview is over, you could almost hear the radio announcer's voice break when he reminds the listener that this is a replay of an interview and that Robin Williams has died. I felt a lump in my throat towards the end of the interview, and I think you will too when you listen to it.

The part where he talks about depression is heartbreaking.

Whoever is linking those pictures to Zelda can go fuck themselves. I wish ISPs could track those people down and cancel their service forever at the very least. It's clearly harassment. I don't mean just because she's a celebrity -- anyone doing this kind of bullshit to someone that just lost a loved one deserves nothing but my contempt and maybe a thorough asskicking.

Moreso than that though, I wish there was a way to reach out to her and her family and find some way to offer support. She is a fantastic woman, as was her father. This is so upsetting.

Well put. Losing respect for someone who commits suicide while not in their right mind is tantamount to losing respect for someone for falling asleep. There are biochemical issues going on in the brain. The very core of what helps you make decisions and be yourself is compromised. No amount of mental fortitude can combat that.

To imply someone who commits suicide while depresses is a coward is, at best, to lack any semblance of empathy, and at worst, downright ignorant.

Oh, so the picture is fake?

I'm not sure how they figured out how old the pic is, but a reverse Google image search leads back to a Spanish Tripod.com site about strangulation.

What picture are you guys talking about? Please don't tell me it's a picture of his body or some disgusting shit like that.

It's a closeup of the neck of a corpse of someone who hanged themselves.

Well, it could be fake, or if it's real, it could still be of anyone else right? Still pretty pathetic and baffling. People who do this kind of shit are suffering exactly as much as Robin was probably. Can't explain this shit with just "They're evil.".

I'm glad you don't know what true suffering is, and I actually hope for your sake that nothing will force you to change your view on this. What you say is pretty hurtful to people who do understand this however. Please keep that in mind.
