Was about to post this very tweet.

Now you see the violence inherent in the system.

a very telling set of statistics, I think. I think we are a ways off from creating an atmosphere and culture that would rectify this, unfortunately. Is the solution waiting for the boomers to pass or will the gen x-rs just continue on? II can see demographics shifts accounting for maybe up to 20% difference in the representation, but this is systemic, it would appear.

Bizarrely, the New York Post felt the complusion to "support" the NYPD, whatever that means:

Googles New York Post...owned by News Corp.

As an Australian, I apologise profoundly and unreservedly for unleashing Rupert Murdoch upon the world. I had a feeling it would be a News Corp paper as soon as I saw the headline. We get the same conservative editorial not even thinly disguised as news here in Sydney.

I never understood how a conservative paper like the NY Post flourishes in the most liberal city in America. Is it because of upstate?

Leaked numbers a week ago reveal news corp papers in Australia have been running at a substantial loss for a number of years. It may be the case in some parts of the US too. I think Murdoch just keeps them running just to sway public opinion and the way I see some people lapping it up I think he's succeeding.

I recall reading a number of years ago that right wing radio was the same way. That many of the various talk shows if not all of them save for Rush Limbaugh have horrible ratings but they're kept on the air anyway. Something like they're all on the same stations owned by a single company or produced by one company. All to push certain agendas since they're not making money.

At one point tonight, Michael Brown protesters chanted "hands up, don't shoot!"
Darren Wilson supporters responded: "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!"

was trying to tell people bigotry/racism and hate towards others is one of the hugest issues in this country. I spoke on the racist folks trolling the chat logs on the journalist live mike brown streams and was told they are just trolls hiding behind there computer so ignore them. Now the bigots are heading to and already arrived in ferguson to spew there hate at a already angry crowd. We have closet racist, in your face bold racism and indirect ignorant racism. They are using this mike brown issue to remind everyone that they hate you because you aren't white.

That's not what that says.

It says he did shoot at mike was running away, unless I missed something. It doesn't say Mike didn't charge after turning around. Which is apparently the story Wilson's side is saying.
Well yeah, but shooting at him while running away is a big deal, no? He clearly tried to hit Brown when his back was turned. Just because Wilson may have finally hit Brown while Brown was facing Wilson doesn't change that.

the problem is you can call them racists all you want but they'll never realize it. in their world they are not racist, they just appreciate and defend cops to a fault. michael brown was a legitimate thug in their eyes. you could sit down with them and have a civil 8 hour discussion with them about racism and it would still never click.

That's the saddest part of the whole ordeal.

i personally feel it is what it is. treat them as white noise and just follow and fight for what you believe in. that's all you can really do.

they're a distraction and if people keep focusing on them too much there's going to be a lot of energy that is legitimately wasted.

Wow, that's seriously messed up. These people are members of a civilized society, right? It's hard to tell sometimes...

Cop: “The Missouri Constitution is different than the US Constitution.” When @Misterbiceps was expressing his right to assemble. #Ferguson

please make it stop

Well I guess I can add this to the lengthy list of reasons as to why the Ferguson PD is an absolute joke.

Already covered?
Darren Wilson’s first job was on a troubled police force disbanded by authorities

The small city of Jennings, Mo., had a police department so troubled, and with so much tension between white officers and black residents, that the city council finally decided to disband it. Everyone in the Jennings police department was fired. New officers were brought in to create a credible department from scratch.

Police faced a series of lawsuits for using unnecessary force, Stichnote said. One black resident, Cassandra Fuller, sued the department claiming a white Jennings police officer beat her in June 2009 on her own porch after she made a joke. A car had smashed into her van, which was parked in front of her home, and she called police. The responding officer asked her to move the van. “It don’t run. You can take it home with you if you want,” she answered. She said the officer became enraged, threw her off the porch, knocked her to the ground and kicked her in the stomach…

it's quite an interesting read

I find it troubling that a fired officer finds a job so easily. I think that black mark on your record should be difficult to overcome.

These same right wing assholes are busy destroying teachers' Unions to create an environment where Suzy Daniels will never get a teaching job again because some 1st-graders did shitty on a standardized test.

I think they do out themselves to people who are on the fence on the issue or who haven't gotten the full story from whatever news program they watch.

Great, protesters who love racism, who actually encourage militarized police and corruption in the police force. The worst of all worlds.

In case anyone missed it: Two St. Louis–Area Cops Suspended After Racist Rants
Amid the ongoing tension in Ferguson, two St. Louis–area cops have been suspended for making hateful, racist remarks. It's worth noting that both of these guys spewed their respective garbage under their own names online, which indicating that they weren't too worried about getting in trouble for it.

The first offender is St. Louis County officer Dan Page, who initially gained notoriety by pushing Don Lemon as he reported from a Ferguson demonstration earlier this week.

Unsurprisingly, the CNN anchor made it his business to look into Page's background. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that after reporting Page's behavior to St. Louis County police chief Jon Belmar, Lemon directed his attention to a video of a disgusting speech Page made to a group called the Oath Keepers of St. Louis and St. Charles. First posted to YouTube in 2012, Page's hour-long talk rant included his take on black people (whom he called "little perverts"), President Obama ("that illegal alien claiming to be president"), gay people ("sodomites"), Muslims ("they will kill you"), and his own willingness to kill people. "I personally believe in Jesus Christ as my lord savior, but I'm also a killer. I've killed a lot. And if I need to, I'll kill a whole bunch more. If you don't want to get killed, don't show up in front of me, it's that simple. I have no problem with it. God did not raise me to be a coward," he explained. You can watch the whole thing below, though we don't recommend it.

Next up is the comparatively tame officer Matthew Pappert of the Glendale Police Department, which operates about 15 minutes away from where Darren Wilson killed Michael Brown. The Daily Caller was the first to note that Pappert's Facebook page began filling up with ugly complaints about the protests in Ferguson starting on August 17.

Pappert also referred to the demonstrators as "a burden on society and a blight on the community," "thugs," and "white trash," and suggested that "a Muslim with a backpack" deal with them somehow. After viewing the posts, Glendale police chief Jeffrey Beaton told the Post-Dispatch that Pappert had been taken off duty while the department conducts an internal investigation of him. "These type of allegations could result in disciplinary action up to and including termination," Beaton said.

So the conservative blogger who came up with that fake orbital blowout fracture story that Drudge picked up is saying Obama is sending an "all-black delegation" to Ferguson.

So much racism. The actual story is here:

Obama sending White House aides to Ferguson funeral

EDGARTOWN, Mass. - President Barack Obama is sending three White House officials to the funeral service of the Missouri teenager whose death in a police shooting in Ferguson, Missouri, has sparked days of racial unrest.

Leading the group for Monday's service will be the chairman of the My Brother's Keeper Task Force, Broderick Johnson. My Brother's Keeper is an Obama initiative that aims to empower young minorities. Johnson is also the secretary for the Cabinet.

Also attending will be the deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Marlon Marshall, and an adviser for the office, Heather Foster.

The White House says Marshall is a St. Louis native and attended high school with Brown's mother.
