Well, you use the thumb on your right hand and you move it around.
Second stick? How does it work?
I used to be in this camp until I saw my friend's 3ds XL. The size is something else, it really makes my OG 3ds look like a cramped mess.
So now that it has all the same buttons and sticks as the WiiU gamepad, does anyone think this new 3DS will be able to be used as a gamepad with the U?
It seems like it might be able to with the extra CPU and all.
New 3DS/3DSLL are up for preorder on playasia if you want to import.
I ordered a New 3DS White ver.
Wait so the thing that differentiates the platform is the word "New"?
Only Nintendo can somehow make their own fucking handheld platform more convoluted than the debacle that was the Wii to WiiU

I was hoping for something like this:

But I guess it's complicated to design around technical constraints and the need to keep it small and portable.
another wacky gimmick from nintendo
While I would like Nintendo to finally take a two sticks design the one above would make people throw away the basic New3DS in about 2 minutes after playing a dpad game, holding it so low would be just awful.
But yeah, the point remains, we need a more modern interface with 2 analogs not a weird c-stick nub. That said its kind of a notable upgrade towards achieving a better experience in MH4G like someone mentioned.
This would make using the face buttons extremely uncomfortable. Nintendo made the right call here.I was hoping for something like this:

The more I think about this, I'm almost positive this will be called one of the following outside Japan:
3DS Advance
or
Advance 3DS
Please be region-free.
Or at the very least allow me to fucking system transfer my US OG 3DS to a new PAL new! 3DS.
I like the colored buttons. Nintendo started the trend and they're the only ones who don't use them anymore. I think being able to tell buttons apart by color is cool. It definitely helps in QTENintendo should use colored button prompts in their games now and keep using it in all future systems. I think they might, since the new XL's buttons also have the colors on the letters. They could have made a sleeker version with white letters if they wanted to.
The C stick looks like an afterthought, so I don't think we're going to see a bunch of FPS on 3DS now or anything. I think games will just use it for the camera and it will work fine for that.
I'm very interested to know more about what the system can do technically. Is this thing just powerful enough to play any Wii port at this lower resolution? The fact that they are showing Xenoblade and giving the 3DS just as many buttons as a Wii CC Pro makes me wonder. Was the purpose of this system to make a portable Wii port machine? Are all the exclusive new games going to be Wii ports? Can this thing play my old Wii VC games?
Virtual Console is a huge no. Virtual Console = Emulation and theres no possible way this would be able to do that. They haven't even gotten a SNES or GBA emulator on the OG 3DS's yet.
This would make using the face buttons extremely uncomfortable. Nintendo made the right call here.
It can do a Xenoblade port, but a VC game port is out of the question? Why is that? I think even the regular 3DS is capable of doing SNES and GBA VC. Nintendo has just been slacking in the VC department, as always.
I have an OG 3DS and using the dpad is already super uncomfortable. I don't think that design would be any worse. While I would like Nintendo to finally take a two sticks design the one above would make people throw away the basic New3DS in about 2 minutes after playing a dpad game, holding it so low would be just awful.

Emulation is very intensive on the hardware. If the 3DS was capable of emulating SNES and GBA, it would have by now.
Seriously, even PCs struggle to perfectly emulate SNES.
Where? i can't find them on the site.New 3DS/3DSLL are up for preorder on playasia if you want to import.

Thanks! For some reason they now also showed up in search while they didn't before. Weird site!
No, I am assuming the apps are the probably the same and he asked about the current ones.
That charging dock looks very nice.

They look cool but goddamnit I only just bought myself an xl to replace my og 3ds a couple of weeks ago. Poor timing on my part :/
Looks like they messed up the colours... there's no white LL, only Blue and Black (they actually have a pic of the White N3DS instead for the Black LL).
But anyway, damn it... those prices are so tempting... But with region-locking, it's pretty useless to me, especially as I've gone 100% with games. Now if I actually were fluent in Japanese...
Are there any XL or LL with the colored buttons as the non XL/LL ones?
They'll be sold seperately. Probably because they come in different colors. The stands are 1200 yen for LL (only black it seems), and 1000 yen for 3DS (white, mint and pink available).I was admiring it too. That vertical stand is super appealing. I wonder if they'll come with them, a la OG 3DS, or be sold separately, like the XL.
So I want to pre-order, but is the LL the way to go? I think I want a white one with the coloured buttons.
