so many smiles. so few answers. mkay.
Nah, the NFL could have said that he was suspended until they completed their investigation, which would have been warranted. Instead they acted as if they saw all of the evidence and then decided it wasn't all that bad after all so two games.Actually they kinda had to. They had to make a judgement on him before the season. It's the issue that they're facing with McDonald. Do you suspend a player indefinitely everytime they're accused of a crime? The player union would fight that to the death.
And you're a misogynistic fool. Go away.
Just because I'm not going along with the outrage of the week machine does not mean I'm a misogynist or need to be insulted.
If you can't see how this is BS, you have no sense of fairness and are just eager to see a guy's career ruined.
Again, the NFL needs to start banning DUI guys on their first offense as well. If not, they are full of it and just reacting to the mob.
Not like this, fam.
Not like this.

What I wonder is as a society do we believe in rehabilitation and second chances? Can Ray Rice redeem himself or should his career be over for good?
These are the kind of questions we have to ask ourselves and have answers. The punishment is the easy part but what happens afterward? Should anything happen afterwards?
Mike Ditka has repeatedly proven to be completely clueless when it comes to anything besides football.Mike Ditka Laments Ray Rice Suspension: "His Earning Power Is Destroyed"
If you don't know someone at all, and you have seen a video of him knocking a woman out in a casino elevator, why would you be "sure he's not a bad guy"?

What exactly is the NFL going to do about their recent domestic violence rules? If Ray McDonald is found guilty, don't they now have to ignore their six game policy and instead give him an indefinite suspension?
I hate the idea of someone's life being ruined over a single mistake but he compounded it by participating in this PR stunt. Instead of taking full responsibility for what he did and throwing himself on the sword he let his wife humiliate herself by publically taking part of the blame. I can't support that. It's really distressing to see people wanting this guy's career destroyed over this.....especially when based on all accounts, he's not a bad guy. Some folks just have bad tempers and I hope everyone wanting to bury this guy over his worst moment never do anything wrong in public
No exactly like this. Let him build his own casket.
I can confidently say I'll never punch the shit and knock out someone. I get through life just fine without resorting to violence.
I'm sure he can get off with the "aggressive step" or "dehumanizing stare" argument. She lunged at him. He was just protecting himself. If his fiance was a young black man and Ray Rice was a cop, then Ray Rice would have been within his rights to shoot and kill her. She got off lucky with just a punch.

He deserves at minimum a year suspension.I can say the same. That doesn't mean I feel anyone who does so deserves to lose their career with no chance at redemption. It's even more infuriating to me with the reactionary, ad-hoc way this went down.

UPDATE: TMZ says they have proof the NFL knew about elevator surveillance video before today, will release Tues AM
I don't think that they'll have any choice. They've lost all credibility on this issue now.
He deserves at minimum a year suspension.
The revised NFL rules are kind of stupid I think. Better obviously, but still stupid.
Based on what? Public outrage? Don't you see how ridiculous this is?
If true then Goodell should probably start packing.

What? If this could be done all over again, he should have gotten a year right off the bat rather than a joke 2 game suspension.Based on what? Public outrage? Don't you see how ridiculous this is?
Somewhere Jay z is glad he didnt camel kick solange

Goodall will not get fired regardless of what happens. Rice was expendable to tamp down a PR mess. The commissioner isn't

If I beat someone unconscious at my university for example, I'm kicked out via an administrative judicial proceeding. Done. Not two days, two weeks, two months. Done.
In this situation, if the NFL knew about this second video at the time of the original sanction of two weeks, then they are profoundly stupid. And now revising the suspension with all information already previously known is also stupid. Rice if he wanted to could probably successfully sue that his due process rights are being violated. But I don't know the NFL administrative hearing procedures.
He didn't beat her unconscious. He punched her (terrible thing to do) and she hit her had on the recoil. I see a big distinction there and I feel a year with no way to earn a living in his profession is too harsh punishment for that. That doesn't make me a misogynist as another poster said though...
One punch can be deadly.
Savings are important. You think he couldn't have figured out a way to eat for a year with the contract he was getting?
Or he can get a different job? Like most people have to do.
That's the major thing for Goodell. Let's look at what's happened
1.) Rice is suspended for two games after the NFL finishes its investigation
2.) A month later the NFL announces a new domestic violence policy that will result in a suspension of six game for a first offense and a lifetime ban for a second
3.) Goodell apologizes for the length of Rice's suspension
4.) A little over a week later Goodell suspends Rice indefinitely
He doesn't seem to know what to do with this. He's reacting instead of doing anything to actually lead.
If true then Goodell should probably start packing.
Hey he went to college, right? Sure there is a finance class peppered in the general education program somewhere.NFL players. ... Save .... Lol
It would be pretty crazy if Ray Rice brought down Goodell when the whole CTE issue couldn't touch him.
Why isn't he? They're all about protecting the image of the league, right? That's why all the suspensions have been handed out. Why there have been so many rule changes. Well, how are you going to protect said image when you have a commissioner disrespecting 50% of your fanbase?
I heard edited clips from his "apology" speech on NPR and it sounded like he only apologized to his team, coaches, and fans, NOT his wife, and then made his wife apologize too.

And the NFL instituted financial planning training for rookies, IIRC.
