Why are people surprised it requires the iPhone? It's an Apple device, for one, and aren't all smartwatches essentially just a second screen for the phone?

I couldn't wear this watch even if I wanted it. Can't wear any watches with metal bands or backing. I break out and itch like crazy.

Ahh man that sucks. I had an instructor once with this. Even holding coins in her hand for periods of times causes her to breakout. Does this happen to you too?

The idea behind the crown dial is to not cover the screen. Having the dial on the right side of watch clearly is designed for that to be worn on the left wrist and to use your right hand to rotate the dial. Doing it the other way makes it more awkward in usability to not cover the screen.

Seems like people expected this to go along with an Android phone. iPhone being required isn't a surprise. They're meant to compliment each other in use.

You can flip it, no? It is digital, so I would imagine you can reorient the screen.

The size seems a lot better than all the Android watches I've seen.
I also like the round design of the Moto 360, but it looks fucking huge on your wrist.

I'd be interested in this if it just used Bluetooth or something and didn't require an iPhone. The new iPhone Plus seems good, but not sure it's good enough to get me off Android.

It's pretty cool I guess, but all of the things they're showing off would be better done with a phone...which is required to run this thing anyway, so what's the point?

I know this is a repeat of the initial criticisms of the iPad, but the big difference is a tablet is easier to use than an iPhone, not harder.

Android Wear requires Android which is one reason I don't understand how there is any discussion of decision unless you own two phones.

Samsung makes one.

It would be nice to have an actual "detached" smart watch that doesn't require anything else.

Seriously the Pebble is nowhere near this lol, I have one too. Also lol at the Steve comment. Every. Single. Year.

Pbble? That shit is the most useless device ever. Still wouldn't spend anything on this, but the Pebble is like a music remote.

To each their own(if you guys actually own one, which I doubt in see5sharp's case). The Pebble is exactly what I want a smartwatch to be, a simple extension of your phone with long battery life. I love my Pebble Steel and I never leave the house without it.

I think both Android Wear and the Apple Watch miss the mark on why people even wear watches in the first place.
